Master of Education [M.Ed] (Early Education, Elementary Education and Moderate Disabilities)

Teachers on the middle/secondary level and moderate disabilities (5-12), according to current MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations, will qualify for professional licensure by earning a master?s degree with 12 graduate credits in their field of knowledge (e.g. biology) and three years of successful teaching under their Initial license. Such teachers may transfer into the AIC professional program graduate credits in their field in lieu of credits in advanced reading and/or in STEM Education and will apply individually to the state for their license upon completion. Please see below for more specifics. Teachers who already hold a Professional License are welcome to apply to this program for the degree only.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicant must have completed a bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited agency
- Applicant should have completed prerequisite course in any one of the following: child psychology; developmental psychology; child development; early childhood
- Applicant should have an initial teaching license
- Prior teaching experience for minimum one year under the initial teaching license
- Submit two letter of recommendation from your supervisor or academic professor
- Submit personal statment
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 80 in ibt; 550 in PBT; 213 in CBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5
