This program builds on three existing Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education/Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (NCATE/CAEP) approved Master?s degree programs: Reading Specialization, Educational Leadership, and Curriculum and Instruction. In addition, an integral part of the program is the ability to choose coursework from other content areas that are self-selected by the candidate. The curriculum includes a core of four professional courses, one course from each of the three existing education graduate programs, four elective courses, and a culminating capstone action research project.?This program does not lead to initial or advanced certifications.
