One of my friends graduated from VIT Chennai with a Mechanical Engineering major last year. It is one of the best colleges in Chennai and offers good placement opportunities for the students.

Infrastructure:

VIT Chennai has a stellar 192-acre campus. It comprises all facilities a student would need.
There are two academic blocks, auditoriums, conference halls, smart classrooms, and well-equipped general amenities.
The campus also boasts of state-of-the-art sports facilities and gyms.

Academics and Facilities:

When it comes to academics the college boasts of top-notch faculties and facilities.

The campus is well equipped with lab facilities for all the departments to explore your field of study.
The faculties are well qualified and have years of experience in teaching.

Teaching Methodology:

The teaching style followed by most of the faculty is the presentation method. Only a few faculties teach by following books.
The college follows the Fully Flexible Credit System that allows students to choose their own courses along with the faculties.
CAT 1, CAT 2, and FAT are the 3 divisions of semester examinations. The institute follows an open book examination system.
The students need to do projects for each and every subject in all the semesters. This helps the student with a better understanding of concepts.

Hostels:

There are 4 hostels in VIT Chennai 2 separate hostels each for boys and girls. The hostel provides 2 & 3 Bedded accommodation for the students.
The hostel also boasts of State-of-the-art Gym and Indoor games.
There are four messes that provide North Indian Veg, North Indian Non- Veg, South Indian foods. The fourth mess provides juices, milkshakes, etc.
For boys, the hostel time is 9.30 p.m.- 10 p.m. and for girls, in time is 7 p.m.

Placements:

Placements are great in VIT Chennai as the college has the reputation of providing placements for nearly all the students.

For 2019-20 a total of 713 companies came for recruitment and a total of 7771 offers were made. The students have the opportunity of bagging dream packages in core companies as well.
The highest package offered was 39 lakhs and the average package was 6.5 lakhs.

The competition in placement is fierce. Some recruiting companies choose 2 or 3 students out of 1000 applicants. Even if you have a good academic record, you have to do well in the placement to secure a job.

VIT Chennai will provide you access to top-quality education and will ensure you succeed in it. It is definitely one of the best places to do your graduation from.

Which one is better: VIT or MIT Manipal?

Comparably MIT Manipal is better.

The admission procedure at MIT is transparent. They declare the cutoff for each branch after each round of counseling.
MIT has a smaller batch size. The total number of seats for UG is 2040. Each branch has a proportionate number of seats.
MIT Manipal placements are better. As per the recent placement highlights, the average CTC and highest CTC offered to the students were INR 7.50 LPA and INR 43 LPA. Around 50 Fortune 500 companies visited the campus placement.

Although MIT charges a higher course fee, the return on investment is better.

I got CSE in VIT Vellore and will get mechanical engineering in NIT Calicut. Which one should I choose?

NIT Calicut stands among the top NITs where you will get a lot of exposure to extracurricular activities. As it’s a government college, the fees will be relatively low as compared to private universities like VIT Vellore.

On the other hand, VIT Vellore isn’t that great institute plus being a private institute the fees is quite high for most middle-class students. If you choose Mechanical here then you can go for two different paths.

The first path is to go for mechanical core, in which you will get ample research opportunities every now and then. However, the placement scenario will not be that great and you might get some PSUs as campus recruiters for mechanical jobs.
The second path is to go for IT Jobs regardless of your mechanical branch.
For this, you need to start doing regular coding and relevant skills to compete during the placement rounds.
Most of the students are placed by mass recruiters, Although many reputed companies hire but very few students get placed by them.

At last, it all depends on your interest and caliber to do well on various career paths. However, if you are inclined towards CSE only then VIT is quite a good option because placements are pretty good there for CSE. Some of the major recruiters include PayPal, Microsoft, Amazon, Morgan Stanley, etc.

How do VIT and Thapar compare?

I have a few friends from both VIT and Thapar. I will suggest you opt for Thapar University as it is one of the best colleges in this league.

Admission:

VIT and Thapar University both conduct an entrance examination for the selection of their candidates. However, VIT does not reveal the scores obtained by the candidates. At Thapar, admission is done on the basis of JEE Main marks. Moreover, both the admission and counseling procedure are translucent and there is no Management Quota. At VIT one can get admission on the basis of the category system whereas, at Thapar, the quality (merit-based) is given more preference.

Batch Size:

The number of students at Thapar University per branch is less in comparison to VIT where there is a crowd on a huge level.

FCCS System:

At Thapar FCCS system is present. It is a system that allows the students to choose the timings of their own classes and the respective teachers for those classes.

Although the facilities provided to the students at the VIT campus are exceptional you should not risk your academic career for mere facilities.

You should rather prioritize Thapar and try for a branch of your choice. If you do not get into it then opting for VIT would be better. But keep VIT as your second option.

Is VIT Vellore better or BIT Mesra in terms of all aspects?

To be honest, BIT Mesra is the dream college of many while VIT Vellore is only considered a backup in case they don’t make it to the top colleges. BIT Mesra is the best private engineering college in India second only to BITS Pilani. Here are a few points that support my stance

A high number of students were selected for JEE Advanced.
Excellent infrastructure and campus facilities make the ambiance vibrant and comfortable.
The institute enjoys an excellent placement scenario. BIT Mesra's average package 2022 stood at INR 13.01 LPA while that at VIT Vellore stood at INR 8.19 LPA.
The admission to BIT Mesra is based on the merit of JEE Mains through JOSAA's counseling.
The institute has a record of having some of the best and most highly experienced faculty.

One of my friends had to choose between these two institutes and eventually went for BIT Mesra. He claimed that it had a better alum network, better placement records, better global recognition, and a coding culture. Now it’s up to you to make an informed decision!

Which is better, VIT Vellore, Thapar Patiala or SRM?

Although all three of these colleges are well-renowned for their engineering courses, there are certain factors that particularly interested me to opt for VIT Vellore. I am currently pursuing B.Tech CSE at VIT.

VIT Vellore ranks excellently in the NIRF Engineering rankings, even better than the other two colleges mentioned by you. In the 2023 NIRF engineering rankings, VIT Vellore ranked 11th.
VIT Vellore is located near Chennai and Bangalore. This allows the students of VIT to gain the much needed exposure which allows them to grab good career opportunities after their graduation.
Academically, both VIT and Thapar are equally placed. VIT offers good academic opportunities, but the North Indian might face some cultural shock.
In terms of faculty, Thapar has an advantage. But even VIT has some really good teachers.

These factors made me interested in joining VIT Vellore. I would suggest you consider VIT for your BTech as it offers good infrastructure and ample opportunities.

How is Dayanand Sagar college of engineering compared to VIT?

VIT Vellore is better than Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering. It has better infrastructure. VIT has an excellent placement record as well. The average CTC for the institute is INR 8.19 LPA. During 2022 VIT Vellore placements, the highest CTC offered was INR 1.2 CPA.

If you are getting the same branch at VIT and Dayanand Sagar, choose the former.

Which is better out of DTU, NSIT, VIT Vellore, BITS (any campus), NIT (top 3) and IIIT (Hyderabad and Delhi), placement-wise and education-wise?

On the basis of placements, I would rank the aforementioned institutes in the following order

Bits Pilani, Pilani Campus>|IT H>Bits Goa>Bits Hyderabad>Top 3 Nits>|IT Delhi/NSUT>DTU

BITS Pilani has a better placement scenario than IIIT Hyderabad although its average package is less than IIIT Hyderabad, this is because BITS has a number of branches and the average package is calculated after considering the packages of all branches whereas IIIT Hyderabad has only two branches ie CS and ECE. Both these branches are top branches so automatically its average package becomes higher than BITS Pilani. If you compare the placements of the CS branch alone, BITS Pilani will have the upper hand. However, if you want to pursue a career in research in CS, ten choosing IIIT Hyderabad will offer better opportunities. Basically, IIIT Hyderabad will make you a better coder whereas BITS Pilani will make you a better engineer.

It's important to note that the above ranking is based on placements alone and if you consider the research culture, then NITs will fare better than BITS mainly because they are government institutes and receive huge funds solely for the purpose of research.
