Common Room for All

There is a common room for all students to unite with other basic facilities within. These include televisions with DTH connection, table-tennis tables, dart game, carrom and chess games.

Common rooms are used for get-togethers, parties, informal discussions and playing indoor games as well. 

Water coolers and purifiers

24*7 Water Supply with water coolers and purifiers are also available on every block. 

Well furnished Rooms

Individual rooms are furnished with teak cots and mattress, a computer table, chairs, closets and shelves. 

Full Internet Connectivity

Rooms within IIM Indore Hostels have a full-time internet connectivity with direct lines to the main LAN. 

Housekeeping Staff

To maintain the overall hygiene, cleaning of rooms, corridors and rest rooms on a daily basis, a dedicated housekeeping staff has been allotted in each block.

The Learning Center at IIM Indore (LC) is a hybrid library with major technological applications, knowledge resources related to management and allied subjects.

  • * Miscellaneous fee includes costs for books & course materials, library fees, Student Activity Council fees and medical facility fees. Medical facility includes a dispensary at the institute where first aid and other routine medical treatment is given. Basic medicines would be provided in the dispensary. For other drugs, doctors will give prescription, which participants have to buy on their own.
  • ** To be refunded at the end of the term after deducting dues, if any.

These fees can be paid either by Bank Transfer, Demand Draft or Cash. The fees are required to be paid by the day of Registration, after which late fees of INR 5,000 will be applicable.

Personal Expenses There are some other expenses which exchange students would usually incur during their stay at IIM Indore. The details of a few such common expenses are as follows:

Rent for a cab is around Rs.600, for a 4 seater car. It is Rs.1500 for an 8 seater car; this rent is for a round trip distance travelled up to 40 km over a period of 4 hrs. Extra charges are incurred for longer distances and time period.

Dinner at a local restaurant: Rs. 400-900 per person (approx.)

Mobile Phone charges: Rs.200/SIM Card + Telephone Usage charges

Other expenses could include expenses on daily used commodities bought by exchange students from local markets.

Yes, hostels are separate. Boys are not allowed to enter girls hostel but the reverse is true. A separate part of the campus for IPM students is currently being built. It will have an academic building and other resources just for them. There are 18 student residences at IIM Indore right now. There are both single rooms and rooms with three or four people sharing for IPM students. The hostels are clean and cozy. There are also residences for married people. You can play volleyball, table tennis, and badminton almost everywhere you stay. There are many places to eat near the dorms, so students can choose from a wide range of foods on campus. Extra housing is also available for students in executive classes and for the teachers, all hostels are guarded. There are no constraints on timing, the hostel fee is included in the course fee itself, it's not separate. Allocations are randomized after selections.There are only sharing rooms for IPMERs, all the necessary facilities are provided by college itself, there is a common room in every hostel. IPM is a residential program, which means it is compulsory to stay at the IIM Indore hostels while pursuing this course. 

A number of assignments and group activities will be given to you in the duration of this course, and as a hostel resident, it will be easier for you to stay back for late hours in the college. The hostels for IPM students have all the necessary facilities, even though you’ll be sharing your room with another person for the first three years.

I have a few friends from IIM Indore and I learned about the hostel accommodation, on-campus through them.

As mentioned by my friends, the girls from their first three IPM years are given to stay at a recently established Student Residence 10, also known as SR - 16. It is in front of the cricket stadium.

On the other hand, the girls from both IPM fourth and fifth years stay with the PGPs in the SR 11 - 14. The hostel is adjacent to the SR - 18, i.e. the IPM Boys Hostel.

How are the IPM IIM Indore hostels?

The hostels at IIM Indore keep changing over the years you spend in the college. Initially the first-year students are provided double occupancy rooms with the same gender. After the first year, single-occupancy rooms are made available 

The basic amenities include 

  • a fan
  • basic lighting
  • furniture for storage
  • study table

Only mattresses are provided while the rest of the bedding is to be arranged by the inmates only.

There are no attached bathrooms and about 5 to 8 rooms share one set of bathrooms which comprises two commodes, two bathrooms, and two wash basins. 

The hostels do not have washing machines, however, there is a laundromat, as well as the services of an on-campus washerman, are available for a nominal price. 

You are not allowed to bring your own electrical or electronic appliances like air coolers, refrigerators, individual TV sets, etc. You cannot bring your own vehicle also except for bicycles.

As far as the campus is concerned, classrooms are well-equipped and the campus has multiple mess and food joints, grocery store, medical center and medicine shop, fruits and vegetable store, washerman, barber, bank, post-office, ATMs, courier dispatch and delivery, photocopy and print shops, gyms and sports centers, and even two temples.

The lack of anything more than basic aims at facilitating a basic lifestyle at the hostel and not a lavish one.

How is IIM Indore hostel and classrooms?

The PGP Hostels at IIM Indore offer single rooms in separate blocks for boys and girls. Each room has a bed, a large wardrobe with a mirror, one or two chairs, a table, and plenty of storage shelf space. Washrooms are plentiful, but not on every floor. Rooms also have LAN ports. Daily cleaning of the rooms is performed.

Fans are adequate because the weather is pleasant during the monsoons and very cold during the winter. Views of the campus are an added bonus depending on the location of the room.

The classrooms at IIM Indore are both large and air-conditioned. They typically seat 75 to 80 students. Classrooms are outfitted with speakers and biometric attendance systems in addition to the standard blackboard and projector system.

At IIM Ahmedabad, there are no restrictions on hostel timings, clothing, or entry of the opposite gender. Without any restrictions, all students are free to leave and return to campus whenever they want.

There are no restrictions on what students can wear anywhere on campus, including in class. The only exception to this rule is that students should dress formally for company presentations.

Students have complete freedom to visit the other gender's hostels whenever they want. Many of my friends had, for all practical purposes, shifted to their girlfriends' hostel rooms and were rarely seen in their own hostels. IIM Ahmedabad gives its students a lot of freedom and believes in the spirit of personal responsibility.

All IIM Indore students, including female students, are permitted to leave campus. There are campus buses that leave at regular intervals. One can also book their own transportation. The only restriction is that everyone must return by 11:30 pm unless there is a valid reason to be outside, such as a late-night flight.

Both the hostels as well as campus at IIM Indore are really beautiful. But you will not get the time to enjoy it if you are really focused on your studies. 

Hostels at IIM Indor are 10-15 blocks named alphabetically. Each block has 3-4 floors and each floor has 4 common washroom facilities. Some blocks are old while some are relatively new with better facilities. You don’t get to choose your hostel rather its chosen through a chit system.

  • There are single occupancy rooms with a bed with mattress, a wardrobe, table and a chair.
  • Wi-Fi and LAN facilities are available.
  • A General Store run by students named Pi-Store will have all the necessary items you require
  • A vendor mess facility for everyday meals is available 
  • There is a swimming pool, gym, tennis court and a huge library

So the hostels at IIM Indore are decked with amazing facilities and will make your stay memorable and comfortable.

How is the life of an IPM-IIM Indore student from studies and extra curricular activities to hostel life?

The life of a student pursuing IPM at IIM Indore can be very hectic. Over the years, IPM has evolved a lot and is attracting more and more students as the years go by.

It is a tiring course, however. There is a lot of diversity in the IPM course. It also has a Student Activity Council (SAC). Its function is to organize events for the students in various domains. It is also in charge of conducting other activities and festivals on the campus and also acts as a bridge between IPM and IIM Indore.

This council has four committees, three clubs, 12 special interest groups, and the main teams of the national-level festivals of IPM.

The three clubs of IPM are as follows. 

  • IPM Activity Club: This club is in charge of organizing various activities for the students and also provides opportunities for honing their co-curricular skills. This club also aims to improve the social life of the students. It also takes steps to organize trips for the students and organizing well-earned breaks for them.
  • IPM Entrepreneurship Cell: IPM tries its best to promote entrepreneurship by facilitating a channel of resources of value. The E-cell offers opportunities for live projects and internships to enhance their experience and have an in-depth knowledge of the industry. 
  • IPM Social Club: The social club of IPM called ‘AASHA’ strives to educate and provide opportunities to members of IIM Indore to give to society. In the last few years, this cell has conducted blood donation camps, workshops, evening schools, and other social service events.

The hostels are allotted to the students of IPM as per what year they are in for the first three years. The rooms are well-furnished with a television area, and indoor games like badminton and tennis. There is wifi too.

IIM Indore boasts of an enviable sports complex. There are state-of-the-art facilities for both indoor and outdoor games. The fitness instructors guide the students through their expertise through strength training, aerobics training, flexibility training, cardiovascular training, etc.
