Are the girls living in the campus hostel of IIM Ahmadabad or IIM Indore allowed to go out of campus? If yes, till when and what are the procedures?
At IIM Ahmedabad, there are no restrictions on hostel timings, clothing, or entry of the opposite gender. Without any restrictions, all students are free to leave and return to campus whenever they want.
There are no restrictions on what students can wear anywhere on campus, including in class. The only exception to this rule is that students should dress formally for company presentations.
Students have complete freedom to visit the other gender's hostels whenever they want. Many of my friends had, for all practical purposes, shifted to their girlfriends' hostel rooms and were rarely seen in their own hostels. IIM Ahmedabad gives its students a lot of freedom and believes in the spirit of personal responsibility.
All IIM Indore students, including female students, are permitted to leave campus. There are campus buses that leave at regular intervals. One can also book their own transportation. The only restriction is that everyone must return by 11:30 pm unless there is a valid reason to be outside, such as a late-night flight.

Yes, the girls living in the campus hostels are allowed to go out of campus at IIM Indore. Most of the students are adults and above the age of 21. They are considered responsible enough to take care of themselves while going out.
At IIM Indore, the girls are even allowed to visit the boy’s hostel without any supervision or restrictions of time. However, boys are sometimes not allowed to go to the girl’s hostel.
As the campus is situated on the outskirts and is about 16-17 km away from the main city, these are the following ways to reach the main city.
- Campus shuttle bus: IIM Indore runs a timely campus bus service outside of the campus. You can look up the bus schedule and plan accordingly. The buses also pick the student at the specified stopping points as per the bus schedule and bring them back to the campus. For availing of this bus service, you need to carry your college ID card as it will be checked at the college gates while leaving and returning. The maximum occupancy of the bus is about 30.
- Personal vehicle or Taxi service: The guards will call the candidate and take the details of the vehicle entering. And while going out, the vehicle number and driving license number of the driver will be noted.
- Staying past 11:30 pm: The institute provides freedom to their students but also takes care of their safety. Thus there are some time-bound restrictions. For staying past 11:30, you need to take late-night permission from the coordinator of the Student activity council.
