NIT Silchar

Remarks :

The admission process was good. Home state quota and category reservation were there. The process was smooth. You can avail of all the details from the respective college website. Eligibility was based on JEE mains rank, so focus on it.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Everything is fine till now. The Faculty members are nice. They help the students a lot and provide them with necessary information and opportunities mails. They do discuss competitive exams like GATE. The only thing is you won't even realize when the semester comes to an end as it's too quick and sudden.

Internships Opportunities :

I don't know much about it as I'm just in 2nd year but through sources, good companies do visit, like Microsoft, Amazon, Dabur, swiggy, etc. Students can do internships with private companies too. But to go for campus internship programs is best.

Placement Experience :

Till now placement percentage is at a good level. From 6th semester students became eligible for placements. Most of the students get placed. From what I have heard short listing of candidates is based on cgpa basis. Skills are most important to go to software companies.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is decent, and it's pretty much affordable, unlike private Institutes. There are many scholarship schemes but you need to be aware of the late dates of the form you can reach YouTube and other sources to collect information. Most of them you can avail in the first year. Specially those having income 5lakh below they can earn good benefits.

Campus Life :

Life at NIT Silchar is good. The place is greenery filled with nature all over as Silchar is a part of northeast India. Rainy seasons are quite hard to deal with. Summers have more humidity. Winters are fine. Sports and extra activities are always there one can join anytime they feel like doing so. The library is big and has lots of books.

Hostel Facilities :

A hostel facility in the first year is best. Rooms are good but as you will go in the second year you have to adjust and accommodate a lot by yourself because there is a shortage of girls hostel so they have to be in 4 seater rooms. Food is fine.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college is quite good. we cannot disclose the name of the company visiting the campus because the training and placement cell of NIT SILCHAR did not allow us to disclose the names of the companies. My plan after getting my degree is to go through the UPSC exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I was interested in this course. Here the faculty-to-student ratio would be around 1:25 which is very good we can clarify our doubts by asking the faculty, the Qualification of the teaching method will mostly be the same, they are PhD, but their teaching experience plays a major role and their teaching method varies from faculty to faculty but it would be nice. Term exams would be around 5 months Difficulty in passing the exams depends on the faculty.

From the 6th sem onwards students are eligible for campus. As per the guidelines of the training and placement cell, the name of the company visited can't be disclosed. There are too many companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Almost all the students who are eligible for placements get placed with a good package.

Placement Experience:

The placement season in the college is a very important one. Even before that, students get to do internships from 2nd year of BTech, providing them exposure to all kinds of companies and job sectors. All kinds of companies like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon, Uber make their way out here in search of bright minds capable of developing the companies further. They even provide the students with Pre Placement Offers, if their internship performance is commendable. The highest package goes upto above 2 crore INR per year, with average packages of above 25 lakhs INR per year. Above 85% of the students get placed in the end, with the others interested in higher studies. Nobody is left idle. My plans after BTech are to pursue a well paying job with a good working atmosphere.
