Remarks :
The eligibility of the course was determined by the JEE Advanced exam conducted by IITs. After the result was declared, JoSAA started seat allocation based on JEE Advanced rank. The admission process took a total of one month with six rounds. The admission process was pretty well managed however the time given between round six and reporting was too short.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course due to my interest in physics and engineering. The faculty-to-student ratio in the first year is around 70:1. The qualifications of the faculties are at par with any top institute in the country. With professors being phenomenal even at research work. The teaching method is an amazing blend of classical teaching ways with technology. The term exams were timed so as to ensure that the exams ended within one week. Overall the exams were easy with no tricky parts that required good knowledge of concepts.
Internships Opportunities :
Major companies that offered placements were Google, Amazon, Jane Street, IBM, Apple, Microsoft, etc. The exact details of projects are currently beyond my knowledge. Around 70% of students were provided with internship opportunities.
Placement Experience :
Students become eligible for campus placement from the 7th semester (4th year). The major companies that offered placement were Google, Amazon, Jane Street, IBM, Apple, Microsoft, etc. Last year around 600 offers were made. The highest package was 2.4 crore and the average package was 27LPA. Around 74.09% was the placement rate. My plan after completing my degree is to get placed at a reputable company.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The annual fee is 200000. The fee structure of the institute is pretty well balanced with the facilities offered. The fee hike policy is not drastic and the cost to study is not too overwhelming. The institute also offers financial aid to economically weaker sections.
Campus Life :
The annual fest of IIT Guwahati is Alcheringa which happens in the month of February. The annual tech fest is Techniche which happens in the month of September. The central library of the campus has a variety of books on a majority of topics. The classrooms have ample resources including air conditioning, 5G WiFi, and charging ports. The campus also offers a variety of sports and extracurricular opportunities including inter-hostel tournaments and the General Championship. The students run websites such as E-Cell and social clubs like NSS and IITG_Memechannel.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel room has a fan, two study tables, and a LAN connection. The hostel mess has nutritious meals being provided three times a day. The menu changes every month based on the feedback provided by mess residents. The hostel process is quite affordable and hostel registration was an easy affair.
