Life in IIT

Remarks :

Yes, Admission to IIT Guwahati for all Btech programs is through the JEE Advanced examination where you get the desired Branch at your rank through the JOSAA counseling process, on the official website of Josaa which happens after JEE adv. Exam, Application for JEE adv. Can Be filled in from the official Website of Jee adv, if the student has Got at least 75% or in the top 20 percentile in his Board exams, and Also after qualifying the cutoff percentile for JEE mains As per his category.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose Btech. In Chemical Engineering, Because It is A relatively light and hectic Branch that allows You to Explore Multiple Opportunities and Has Jobs even in core sectors, The Faculty teaching here are great PhD scholars some even from Other IITs, but the method of teaching and Course structure has not been changed yet, Student sex ratio is 5 boys: 1 girl, Term exams were as per the schedule and Maths Course was super tough To score in, Remaining courses were still easier than it.

Placement Experience :

College Placements are excellent and the average package offered is around 26.37 LPA with some students getting as high as 1.2Cr/ annum domestically, and 2.4Cr/annum Internationally, The students Can apply for placements after completing their Course at the end of 8 th semester, however, some companies even offer PPOs ( pre-placement offers ), Inst. is visited by Many Tech companies, Like Google, Amazon, Facebook. and many High Trading firms Like Jane street, IITG also has a high %of students getting placed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The Fees structure for 4 Yrs Btech is around 2.8 Lakhs / Yr, or 11-12 Lakhs for 4 yrs, yes the institute offers Scholarships to some Reserved Categories and to economically weaker sections of Students whose parental income is below a certain defined Income level/annum.

Campus Life :

The Life and the atmosphere On the campus are Super good and lively. We have "TECHNICHE" as the tech-fest of IITG held from 31st Aug to 2nd Sep, and Alcheringa in the month of Feb, We have Many social clubs like Robotics, Dance, Singing, etc., and Many Extracurricular activities for students.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college is quite good. we cannot disclose the name of the company visiting the campus because the training and placement cell of NIT SILCHAR did not allow us to disclose the names of the companies. My plan after getting my degree is to go through the UPSC exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I was interested in this course. Here the faculty-to-student ratio would be around 1:25 which is very good we can clarify our doubts by asking the faculty, the Qualification of the teaching method will mostly be the same, they are PhD, but their teaching experience plays a major role and their teaching method varies from faculty to faculty but it would be nice. Term exams would be around 5 months Difficulty in passing the exams depends on the faculty.

From the 6th sem onwards students are eligible for campus. As per the guidelines of the training and placement cell, the name of the company visited can't be disclosed. There are too many companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Almost all the students who are eligible for placements get placed with a good package.

Till now placement percentage is at a good level. From 6th semester students became eligible for placements. Most of the students get placed. From what I have heard short listing of candidates is based on cgpa basis. Skills are most important to go to software companies.

Placement Experience:

The placement season in the college is a very important one. Even before that, students get to do internships from 2nd year of BTech, providing them exposure to all kinds of companies and job sectors. All kinds of companies like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon, Uber make their way out here in search of bright minds capable of developing the companies further. They even provide the students with Pre Placement Offers, if their internship performance is commendable. The highest package goes upto above 2 crore INR per year, with average packages of above 25 lakhs INR per year. Above 85% of the students get placed in the end, with the others interested in higher studies. Nobody is left idle. My plans after BTech are to pursue a well paying job with a good working atmosphere.
