IIT Guwahati review by a student

Remarks :

To take admission to IIT Guwahati, you need to score a good rank in the JEE Advanced entrance exam. You should prepare in your 11th and 12th standard and might opt for coaching. The admission process is very smooth and good. If you can take benefit of reservation then go for it. If not able to score a good rank on your first attempt you can take a drop year as well to prepare for the exam. Eligibility is you should have physics, chemistry, and maths on the 12th board.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course has a very good package and environment for being one of the finest people. The faculties are decent and helpful when you have any doubts. Student-to-teacher ratio is 80:1. All the faculty are qualified and have done undergraduate, postgraduate, and master's in respective fields from known colleges. There are quizzes in between semester and midterm exam and endsem examination held.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships are good and the majority of students are offered a summer internship and get an experience of corporate life. Many companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Google, etc. come to hire students for their companies. Projects are given to work on with teams or individuals.

Placement Experience :

College placement is very good as it is an old IIT with an excellent reputation and respect. Companies hire their staff directly from college. Some students are interested in further studies as well and for that also college is excellent. And research opportunities are also good.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The annual fee is 300000. Doing BTech in IIT Guwahati is a little expensive for a middle-class family child but they can opt for student loans which are very easy to avail. If you are from a lower middle-class family then there are other scholarships as well. And due to good placement, the rate of return is good.

Campus Life :

Life at the campus is good and enjoyable. Clubs are fun to participate and competitions held are also fun to watch and attend. The library is full of books and resources. All clubs and societies are run by students actively. Sports are fun to play and there are a lot of types of different sports.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels are decent and good. Food is eatable. Hostels are a little old but with friends, it doesn't matter. Mess food is decent but some days there is a special dinner which is good and can't be skipped. The registration process is told by the college itself and is a very easy process.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college is quite good. we cannot disclose the name of the company visiting the campus because the training and placement cell of NIT SILCHAR did not allow us to disclose the names of the companies. My plan after getting my degree is to go through the UPSC exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I was interested in this course. Here the faculty-to-student ratio would be around 1:25 which is very good we can clarify our doubts by asking the faculty, the Qualification of the teaching method will mostly be the same, they are PhD, but their teaching experience plays a major role and their teaching method varies from faculty to faculty but it would be nice. Term exams would be around 5 months Difficulty in passing the exams depends on the faculty.

From the 6th sem onwards students are eligible for campus. As per the guidelines of the training and placement cell, the name of the company visited can't be disclosed. There are too many companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Almost all the students who are eligible for placements get placed with a good package.

Till now placement percentage is at a good level. From 6th semester students became eligible for placements. Most of the students get placed. From what I have heard short listing of candidates is based on cgpa basis. Skills are most important to go to software companies.

Placement Experience:

The placement season in the college is a very important one. Even before that, students get to do internships from 2nd year of BTech, providing them exposure to all kinds of companies and job sectors. All kinds of companies like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon, Uber make their way out here in search of bright minds capable of developing the companies further. They even provide the students with Pre Placement Offers, if their internship performance is commendable. The highest package goes upto above 2 crore INR per year, with average packages of above 25 lakhs INR per year. Above 85% of the students get placed in the end, with the others interested in higher studies. Nobody is left idle. My plans after BTech are to pursue a well paying job with a good working atmosphere.
