my experience at IIT Guwahati

Remarks :

JEE advance is the qualifying exam for the course and you have to secure at least 75% marks in 12th standard or equivalent and clear JEE mains with a decent rank and then clear JEE advance then you will get admission in the top institutions. You can apply for Jay Advance through the official site of JEE Advance. But before that, you have to clear JEE Mains and you can apply for JEE Mains through the official site of NTA. The application fees vary from category to category.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I love engineering that's why I chose the course. The student-to-faculty ratio is about 15: 1. These are generally highly qualified and they have done mostly Ph.D. from higher institutes around the world. I personally do not like the teaching of professors because everything is taught in PDF and online. Exams are scheduled very tightly and some of the exams are very difficult to pass.

Internships Opportunities :

Couldn't get internship internship opportunities in the 5th semester, they can avail anytime on their own also. students can do projects with professors. some of the good companies who visited are Google, Microsoft, Meta etcetera.

Placement Experience :

Placements here are in the second last semester. There are many companies like Google Microsoft, meta, reliance, etc. Who budget for the placement the percentage of students getting placement and most of the branches have around 70 to 80 % of students who get placed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is quite average. Hello, students of SC, ST, and income below 5,00,000 get a fee waiver of 1,00,000 per semester. Also, students can even scholarships like NSP and also private scholarships to supplement the payment of fees. Off-campus internship and placement opportunities are provided on the campus.

Campus Life :

Alcheringa is the annual fest and Technique is the annual tech fest in IIT Guwahati. Students can avail of books and journals from the library. There are also good sports and extracurricular activities. Students can get into many gloves like coding clubs, robotics clubs etcetera.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facilities are generally good do students stay in one room. Meal quality in Mess is generally average. On the day of admission, hostels are allotted. I have not rented a room or am busy because I have got into a hostel.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college is quite good. we cannot disclose the name of the company visiting the campus because the training and placement cell of NIT SILCHAR did not allow us to disclose the names of the companies. My plan after getting my degree is to go through the UPSC exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I was interested in this course. Here the faculty-to-student ratio would be around 1:25 which is very good we can clarify our doubts by asking the faculty, the Qualification of the teaching method will mostly be the same, they are PhD, but their teaching experience plays a major role and their teaching method varies from faculty to faculty but it would be nice. Term exams would be around 5 months Difficulty in passing the exams depends on the faculty.

From the 6th sem onwards students are eligible for campus. As per the guidelines of the training and placement cell, the name of the company visited can't be disclosed. There are too many companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Almost all the students who are eligible for placements get placed with a good package.

Till now placement percentage is at a good level. From 6th semester students became eligible for placements. Most of the students get placed. From what I have heard short listing of candidates is based on cgpa basis. Skills are most important to go to software companies.

Placement Experience:

The placement season in the college is a very important one. Even before that, students get to do internships from 2nd year of BTech, providing them exposure to all kinds of companies and job sectors. All kinds of companies like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon, Uber make their way out here in search of bright minds capable of developing the companies further. They even provide the students with Pre Placement Offers, if their internship performance is commendable. The highest package goes upto above 2 crore INR per year, with average packages of above 25 lakhs INR per year. Above 85% of the students get placed in the end, with the others interested in higher studies. Nobody is left idle. My plans after BTech are to pursue a well paying job with a good working atmosphere.
