The Truth

Remarks :

We are first required to appear and qualify for JEE Mains conducted by NTA every year. By qualification, I mean that we should be in the top 250000 students in JEE Mains. JEE Mains is held in two sessions and the best score out of two is used for deciding rank. Application forms are generally available in January for the first session and the exam is conducted in April. There is a reservation available for EWS, OBC, WC ST, and PWD. Also, horizontal reservation is available for female students in each category. As far as improvement is concerned in the admission process, the online software of NTA which conducts the test can be improved as sometimes the full question does not appear or a blank screen appears.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because I have a genuine interest in Physics. I love to study the natural phenomenon and its laws. There are approximately 40 Faculty Members in the Physics Department and almost 250 students in BTech, 100 in Mtech, and 50 in PhD. The faculty members have good experience and have enormous knowledge. Their teaching and grading techniques are very effective. Term exams are conducted in two parts mid-sem and end-sem. A semester comprised of mainly 4 months. It was comparatively difficult to pass some of the courses.

Internships Opportunities :

Many large companies and organizations offer internships in fields such as marketing, finance, human resources, and management. These internships provide valuable experience in a corporate setting. Universities, research institutions, and laboratories frequently offer research internships for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Non-profit organizations often provide internships in areas like social work, public relations, fundraising, and community development. These internships can be a great way to give back while gaining experience.

Placement Experience :

Students become eligible for placement from the 7th semester. There are around 150 - 200 companies visiting the campus during placement season and around 1500 offers were made last year. There is a good percentage of students getting placed around 82 percent of students were placed last year. My plan is to get a good placement in Google or Microsoft after the degree completion. The average package offered is around 18.5 lakhs and the highest was 2.4 cr for last year.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

A general category student has to pay around 130000 per semester. Whereas SC and ST students are required to pay 30000 per semester. They don't have to pay the tution fee of 100000. This fee included hostel rent, tution fees, mess food, and other services. Many scholarships are available and offered by the Institute such as MCM Scholarships, and Indian Oil Scholarship Schemes. After 4 years, a lot of companies visit the campus for placement season and most of the students get a job.

Campus Life :

There are three annual festivals of the college namely, Alcheringa (cultural fest) held in February, Udgam ( Entrepreneurship fest) held in January, and Techniche ( tech fest) held in September). Our institute has a big Library where almost all the course-related books are available. You won't be able to find other books there as mainly library is mainly for course-related materials. Classrooms are equipped with ACs, tables, chairs, and proper lights. Every year sports competitions, tech competitions, and cultural competitions are held between all the hostels. There are different clubs in the college such as the Finance and Economics Club, Consulting and Analytics Club, Coding Club, etc. There are apps developed by the students and run and used by the students of IITG such as Stop, course hub for looking into the mess menu, looking at class schedules, study material, etc.

Hostel Facilities :

Some hostels are quite old but still have all the required facilities and the new hostels are, I would say, top-class hostels. Basic Internet facilities are available in each room. Each hostel has a canteen, stationary shop, and a juice center which are open till 2 AM. Each hostel has a reading room and a separate mess. There are double occupancy rooms for 1st year students but in the second year, we get single occupancy. Mess food is not that good but can be eaten though????. Hostel registration is done when you arrive in the hostel on the first day itself. All must stay in the hostel.

The placement of the college is quite good. we cannot disclose the name of the company visiting the campus because the training and placement cell of NIT SILCHAR did not allow us to disclose the names of the companies. My plan after getting my degree is to go through the UPSC exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I was interested in this course. Here the faculty-to-student ratio would be around 1:25 which is very good we can clarify our doubts by asking the faculty, the Qualification of the teaching method will mostly be the same, they are PhD, but their teaching experience plays a major role and their teaching method varies from faculty to faculty but it would be nice. Term exams would be around 5 months Difficulty in passing the exams depends on the faculty.

From the 6th sem onwards students are eligible for campus. As per the guidelines of the training and placement cell, the name of the company visited can't be disclosed. There are too many companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Almost all the students who are eligible for placements get placed with a good package.

Till now placement percentage is at a good level. From 6th semester students became eligible for placements. Most of the students get placed. From what I have heard short listing of candidates is based on cgpa basis. Skills are most important to go to software companies.

Placement Experience:

The placement season in the college is a very important one. Even before that, students get to do internships from 2nd year of BTech, providing them exposure to all kinds of companies and job sectors. All kinds of companies like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon, Uber make their way out here in search of bright minds capable of developing the companies further. They even provide the students with Pre Placement Offers, if their internship performance is commendable. The highest package goes upto above 2 crore INR per year, with average packages of above 25 lakhs INR per year. Above 85% of the students get placed in the end, with the others interested in higher studies. Nobody is left idle. My plans after BTech are to pursue a well paying job with a good working atmosphere.
