As a reflection of the sheep mentality, the majority of engineering aspirants can be seen running after CS or IT. However, I will suggest you also give preference to your interests first.

Electronics and Computer Science Engineering is a recently launched branch at KIIT and is actually great. Not many batches have passed out yet, but the branch seems promising like any other branch at KIIT.

• In the first year, the same foundation courses are taught that are common in all the branches. These include Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electronics, Engineering Mechanics, etc. 
• From the second year, you will be intrigued by the ECE concepts. Out of the overall curriculum, approximately 55% weightage is given to electronics subjects and 45% weightage is given to CS subjects. 
• From what I have heard, the subjects taught to ECE are easier than the subjects taught to CS and Electronics students individually. 

In all, Electronics and Computer Science Engineering is a decent choice especially if you are interested in the field. However, if you are still aiming for CS, then you can opt for a branch change after one year. The cut-off for branch change is 8.5 CGPA but to get into CS you will need around 9.2+ and 8.9 or more for IT.

Whether doing MS by Research in ECE at IIIT Hyderabad is worth it or not depends on what you are expecting from it. Consider the following situation

• If your goal is to secure a good package, though MS, M.tech will serve you well.
• If you are a research enthusiast and want to pursue the same, the primary step is to identify the research area and choose the institute that specializes in that area.
• If you are planning to do a Ph.D., then go for an institute that will support your research area in MS and Ph.D. It’s better than changing colleges.
• If you want to gain some work experience before going for your Ph.D., then M.Tech is a better option because you can start working right after 2 years and won’t have to wait for 4 years as in the case of MS.

Overall, IIIT Hyderabad certainly has a great research culture so it’s a good option if there are good professors in the area of research you are willing to do.

My friend is a recent graduate of Electronics and communication engineering from IIT(BHU) Varanasi. Here are a few highlights pertaining to the course based on his review of the same.

• Course structure: The curriculum is regularly updated to meet the industry standard and relevancy. The course structure is designed in such a way that most course-related subjects are introduced in the first year itself. Additionally, there are some CSE subjects to expand the job opportunities for the students.
• Faculty: Sadly, the faculty here is very lacking. Some even lack the most basic knowledge and just teach the students in their bookish language. The pedagogy adopted is old school bringing down the standard of education here. A few teachers recently joined and brought about slight changes in the pedagogy and the citation is expected to get better. 
• Placements: Based on the data I got from my friend, the BTech ECE average package was INR 27.73 LPA. Usually, IIT BHU ECE average package is in the range of 20-22 LPA. Core companies like Nvidia and Texas Instruments hired many but top companies like Microsoft have no or fewer openings for CSE students. 

IIT BHU is a good college if you are willing to do self-study and not depend on the faculty. 

Here is the fee-structure for B.Tech students of MNNIT Allahabad-

• Family Income > 5 LPA- 

1. Tuition fee = Rs. 62,500 per semester. 
2. Institute Fee = Rs. 10,000 per semester.
3. User Charges= Rs. 9,000 per semester. 
4. At the time of admission, Rs. 5,000 is to be paid as Caution Deposit. 
5. Hostel Fee = Rs. 12,000 per semester. 

This brings the total to Rs. 98,500 for sem1, and Rs. 93,500 per sem for the remaining semesters. 

• Family Income 1 LPA - 5 LPA- 

Other charges remain the same, but Tuition Fee is reduced to Rs. 20,833 per semester.

This brings the total to Rs. 56,833 for sem1, and Rs. 51,833 per sem for the remaining semesters. 

• Family Income < 1 LPA OR SC/ST/PwD candidate-

Other charges remain the same, but Tuition Fee is completely exempted.

This brings the total to Rs. 36,000 for the first sem, and Rs. 31,000 per sem thereafter. 

The Mess Fee is Rs. 20,000 per semester. For Day Scholars, the Hostel Fee is not applicable. 

This is the complete breakdown of B.Tech fee structure at MNNIT Allahabad. The fees are same for all branches. 

The CGC Landran CSE placements are pretty good with almost 100% placement percentage. However, the size of the packages depends on individual performance and is subject to vary from person to person. Many top MNCs and companies visit CGC Landran for placements. Although CGC does not release branch-wise placement statistics, here is a comparative analysis of overall placements over the past 2 years.
