BTech in Electronics and Instrumentation at NIT Rourkela is a decent program. The primary purpose of this course is to produce graduates having a strong background in basic science, mathematics and electronics, and instrumentation engineering and the ability to use these tools. Anyone with a decent score can get good offers from companies like IOCL BARC.
I asked a few friends about the job opportunities offered in this field.
If you are confident about the field, join it without any hesitation because you will be receiving a plethora of opportunities.
One of my friends was a student of IET DAVV. He said that the faculties for the Electronics branch are better than most of the colleges in Madhya Pradesh. They have a reputation of good and student friendly faculty.
Categories | Electronics at IET DAVV |
Course Fee | 2.74 lakhs |
Highest CTC | 20 LPA |
Average CTC | 8-10 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Wipro, TCS, Phillips, Havells, etc. |
The electronics course has been certified by AICTE. For the electronics branch there are comparatively less number of industries in Madhya Pradesh so internships are given on an average scale. Almost 60 percent of the students at least get an opportunity in the course tenure.

Considering your rank of 45000, you can get Electronics through counseling in the 3rd round. The chances are less so you can consider these branches as well with your rank.
It's better to keep all options open that be fixated on a particular branch.
IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati are well-established and reputed institutions in India. Both of them have pros and cons. If you are looking to have a career in the mechanical field, IIT BHU is a good option for you. They are best at placement support and academics, and you will have the advantage of the branch change policy. Let us have a detailed comparison between IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati
Placement – The recruiters from major companies mostly give placement to the students from IIT BHU. This institution is renowned for its placement support, and they confirm that they provide effective placement for their students contingent on their caliber in the respective field. At IIT Guwahati, only a lesser number of students got placed in big companies with high-salary jobs when compared with IIT BHU.
Campus – Both institutes offer good campus life to the students. They have good infrastructure and a top library facility.
Branch Change Policy – IIT BHU has a branch change policy that will allow you to change your branch from mechanical to CSE after the first year. Only 10% of students with a good CGPA will get the chance to change branches.
Academics – Students are given effective classes conducted by experienced scholars in both institutes. You will be given study materials and have a library facility for more references.
You can opt for IIT BHU, which is perfect for a mechanical student.
For most students, the end goal of getting admission to a college is to secure a job in a good company. So most of the time placements become the basis for evaluating the worth and credibility of an institute. Here are some points pertaining to the placements in IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati
However, for students whose priority is not to get a job but to pursue higher studies and pursue a career in research, IIT Guwahati is the best option. A few aspects and the preferred colleges are

At IIT Kanpur, the wider domain namely, Electrical Engineering is offered and not Electronic Engineering. While most IITs EE is further divided into subdomains, IIT Kanpur believes in covering a broader scope rather than an in-depth one. The wide scope enables students to explore almost everything h and then decide where their interest lies.
Electrical Engineering itself is made up of many fields like Signal Processing, Communication Systems, Microelectronics, and Power Electronics broadly. It’s not justified if a person acquired knowledge of only one specific field when in reality, all subdomains are interconnected.
Electronic Engineering is not a separate branch at IIT Kanpur but is definitely taught here. The flexible curriculum makes it possible for students to choose from a plethora of electives and customize their academic templates accordingly.
Basically, IIT Kanpur believes that students identify their area of interest by exploring other domains and not studying the subdomains only!
Thapar University was once a very prestigious and highly regarded institute. But now it has lost its charm and its quality of education is very low now. The main reason for the same is an increase in the intake of average students just for the sake of earning money. Dont believe the NIRF rankings as they are manipulated and misleading.
One of my friends recently chose Manipal University because the quality of the crowd is much better than Thapar University. The quality of the crowd is deteriorating because of increasing cutoffs and the huge reservation for Punjab residents. Manipal University cutoffs on the other hand are decreasing so it's able to maintain the quality of the crowd better.
So, Manipal Unversity is a preferable choice for the electronics branch.
IIT BHU is among the top Engineering colleges in India. NIRF 2020 has ranked IIT BHU in the 11th position for BTech. The average placement rate for all branches at the institute is 71%.
Electronics Engineering:
From the Electronics Engineering department at IIT-BHU, almost 95% of the students get placed each year. Placements of Electronics are par with Computer Science Placements.
Electrical Engineering:
The Electrical Department has very good placement records over the years. In last year’s placement, around 90% of the students from the department were placed.
Besides this all the Non-Core Sector Companies in the domain Analytics, Business, Management, Consultancies, etc. offer jobs in both departments but some software companies are open only for Electronics but generally overall companies visiting the campus for Electronics and Electrical Engineering are nearly the same. Hence according to the statistics, the placements of the Electronics Department are better than the Electrical Engineering Department.
Both institutes are good enough in the electronics department. You won’t regret choosing any of these institutions. IITs are the best at providing practical classes to students. Let us have a detailed look at IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati
Placement – IIT BHU is leading in terms of placement support. Many students got placed in companies with high salaries at IIT BHU.
Alumni – Being an old institute, IIT BHU is enriched with an alumni network. Prosperous work culture is the center of attraction of this engineering institute
Infrastructure – IIT Guwahati has a commendable infrastructure, the buildings are well-furnished and it has a beautiful campus while IIT BHU is the old campus
