How is Campus life at IGIT sarang? And what is the best branch (in terms of teaching standards)?

RS
Rupali Samal Posted On : March 5th, 2021

The campus life of IGIT Sarang is not that great. So, it is better to keep the standards low. The campus is around 379 acres. The residential part of the campus is covered by 179 acres, situated nearby the Brahmani river. The additional 200 acres are left unused for future expansion projects. The experience of students in the initial years is discussed below.

  • In the initial years, the students find the campus dull and complain about it. After a year, with the increasing familiarity, they start loving it. There are strict rules and time deadlines for girls. After 7 pm, girls are not allowed to roam around. They should be within the hostel.
  • Students spend most of the time at chowk, food courts, canteen or cafeteria. These are the hot-spots to hang out with friends and relax.
  • Students get bored of campus within a couple of months. The reason is that the campus is isolated from the outside world. Everyone from IGIT is living within a radius of 5 km.
  • The campus life revolves around friends. They are the best companions and even politics.
  • Computer science is the best branch here. It interestingly organizes its branch events

Life in IGIT Sarang is not easy, yet it is fun.

  • Apart from all this, special arrangements are made during festivals and food is served accordingly. Even Valentine’s Day is not left out.

Chota Canteen: The canteen is open 24*7 throughout the year. It offers various items such as pizzas, burgers, French fries, etc. If you customize the food according to your preference and taste, the food is named after you!

Hostel

  • In the first year, you will have to share your room with one partner and for the second year, you will be getting a single room.
  • Parijat (Girls Hostel), Palash (Boys Hostel), Silver Oak (Co-ed Hostel) are first-year hostels.
  • Second-year hostels can be all girls, all boys, or co-ed hostels as per the decision of the students.
  • In the second year, students form groups and pick and form hostels on their own.
  • For the events and leagues that take place on the campus, hostels are vital.
  • Events like birthday dunkings, open mic, etc., are hosted in the hostels at night.

The campus and the library are open 24*7. The classrooms are also easily accessible but require permission. Your life will revolve around assignments, committee work, events and sports.

How is life at JIPMER?

SS
Shreyansh Roy Singh Posted On : October 4th, 2021
Masters from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research,Pondicherry (2018)

One of my friends is a part of JIPMER, pursuing medical sciences. As per what he mentions, life at the institute goes something like the following.

Academic Profile:

Medical schools are usually tough to be at from the very beginning. The semesters are tough, especially during the first 3 years of the course period. Moreover, if talking about internships, it can be equally toilsome in more than one way. It is best to complete at least one chapter every day, in order to avoid hassle during the ultimate moment.

Non-Academics:

  • Sports: The institute has a renowned central open-air basketball, volleyball, and football ground, separate from one another. Students generally opt to play after a day-long of grueling hours.
  • Literary Events: The fact that JIPMER is quite inclined towards the English language becomes vividly evident by seeing several literary events, alongside major quiz competitions.
  • Cultural Events: There are a bunch of events taking place every year. Most essentially, the environment of the institute is quite pleasant and not at all strict.

Hope this gives you an idea of what life will be like at JIPMER.

How is/was your life in NALSAR, NLSIU or NLU-D?

RC
Rishi Chabria Posted On : September 8th, 2021
Studied at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, graduated in 2020

One of my friends studied at NLU. According to him, life at NLU was challenging. It was not difficult but challenging in a way that the beliefs he had changed gradually. It helped him learn things about himself and evolve. He learned that life in a hostel is what someone makes of it.

  • The hostels of NLU Delhi feel more like a boarding school as there are restrictions galore, not only in the form of timings of entry and exit but for the hostels in entirety.
  • NLU suffers from the lack of sporting culture and sufficient facilities for sports. Other than for volleyball, basketball and to some extent for badminton also.
  • Due to the attitude of the administration, it is difficult to play football and cricket.
  • The library of NLU is very good and it allows a lot of subscriptions for students who have various interests.
  • The library also provides room for legal research and learning which is enviable.
  • There are hardly any events in the institute. Students usually head out of campus for having fun.

Speaking about NALSAR and NLSIU, both their campus extra-curricular activities are much more vibrant than NLU Delhi. However, both institutes have a competitive environment for study and also have a lot to offer, unlike NLU Delhi.

How is life at XIMB, Bhubaneswar?

CG
Chandni Ghose Posted On : April 22nd, 2021
M.B.A. Human Resource Management, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2018)

As far as the college campus is concerned, my friends have lived on the new campus so my response is based on their experience there. Firstly, it is quite far from the city. If you are used to things being very convenient, this could pose as a bit of an inconvenience in your early days of living here since there really aren’t that many places to hang out.

However, this can definitely be an advantage at the same time as you will get more time to bond with your seniors and batch mates. In my opinion, once you build some friendships, you probably will not have a problem about not being close to a city anymore.

There are also numerous committees you can be a part of. You will definitely get super busy trying to juggle your responsibilities as a volunteer in these committees, along with other commitments like your academics, case study competitions, group projects, and other things. There are also a few parties that take place so you will get your share of fun in that aspect as well.

Overall, you can expect to have a good college life at either of the campuses. Hope this helps.

How is life as an MBBS student in JIPMER?

SS
Suman Sharma Posted On : October 6th, 2021
MBBS from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry (2021)

Life is exciting as an MBBS student in JIPMER. One of my friends studied there, and here’s what he mentioned about it.

  • The campus is lush green. The weather is always good with clear skies and on clear nights stars are visible.
  • There is very little pollution so the stars are clearly visible at night.
  • The college starts at 8 AM and the professors are very punctual at that time so they don’t tolerate even a slight delay. Punctuality is a must here.
  • The students always have to dress appropriately and are not allowed to wear slippers.
  • The exams conducted are lengthy with less time duration however it prepares students for the best.
  • It’s sometimes hard to deal with a patient in just 60 minutes even after knowing that they are in a lot of pain.
  • Students sometimes lose their cool and their patience.
  • The faculties are really nice and helpful.
  • They are also well-known personalities in their respective fields with lots of research or doctoral background.

In general the academic pressure was very high and students were loaded with many exams and strict attendance policy. You get to meet amazing intellectuals as guest speakers or during organized camps.
