How is life at Manipal University Jaipur?

SB
Samanarukh Bhat Posted On : June 8th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engg. at Manipal Univ Jaipur (2018)

My friend is an alumnus of Manipal University Jaipur. Here are some snippets of her experience.

Curriculum:

My friend is from the CSE department. According to her, the curriculum is well-designed but she did have some gripes. Automata Theory and Compiler Design are clubbed together in the syllabus which does not give the scope to explore the Compiler Design part in depth. Open electives are not given much emphasis. The syllabus is vast but the topics are not discussed in detail.

Facilities:

The college has also tied to Coursera so that most courses with a credential can be accessed for free. You get one free year of Azure Cloud, and a Matlab student license is also available at the college if you want it.

Peer Group:

You will get to meet people from all over the country. The coding culture at the campus is great. You will find students working on C++ meta programs, Unity games, script kiddies, robotics, etc. There are students who have cracked GSoC, won hackathons, even went abroad to conduct research.

Faculty: Although the view regarding faculties is subjective, my friend only had good things to say about the CSE faculties.

Events: The quality of events has improved over the years. It conducts many hackathons around the academic year. Every year the institute also conducts TedXMUJ.

Internships:

  • There are a lot of start-ups in Manipal, so securing an internship is not that difficult.
  • Companies like Dell also conduct hackathons to select students for internships.
  • There’s also IAESTE LC MUJ, a student-run function of IAESTE. Through which you can get internships in foreign countries such as Turkey, Germany, Poland, etc.

Placements: The average salary package was 5.3 LPA while the highest recorded CTC was 42 LPA.

MS Opportunities: There are many students from the institute doing their MS from institutes like Cornell, University of Texas, Carnegie Mellon, and others.

The hostel facility is great and Manipal as a city is quite vibrant. You will definitely have a good time at the institute.

What kind of hardships do students suffer in top law colleges like NLSIU, Nalsar or NUJS?

SS
Shaoni Sengupta, Posted On : October 25th, 2021
B.A.L.L.B. from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (2022)

One of my friends studied at NUJS. According to her, hardships have varied reasons from academics to personal.

  • The Cases/readings are worth easily 500 pages every day, preparing summaries/case briefs, Tutorials and then projects, presentations, vivas, and the tiring final semesters all comprise the academic hardships.
  • Due to internships, you will miss your vacations. Internships are a temporary glimpse into what life will be like.
  • After getting the grind to excel and to get placed / PPOs, some students suffer from existential crises, emotional upheavals, urge for infinite sabbaticals, etc.
  • The burden of studies and placements takes a toll on your personal life.
  • Case briefs become a reason for discord rather than unity.
  • The healthy competition suddenly gets replaced by a rat race.

Lastly, all the things like hobbies, extra-curricular, etc. disappear. But even after all the hardships, it still is the best time of a student’s life at NLSIU.

How is life at NALSAR?

PS
Pritam Sharma Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Ph.D from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2020)

One of my friends is studying for a Ph.D. from NALSAR. As per her review, life there is busy, especially for youngsters. Classes go on till late, but the evenings are peaceful. The university has a beautiful campus with well-maintained gardens and wide roads. But it is far away from Hyderabad city. However, transport facilities are readily available.

Ph.D. students have hard luck. Being into research, they do not spend much time on campus. They work from remote locations. Overall, campus life is peaceful and ideal for academics.

How is Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology? How are the campus and the placements?

NR
Nitin Rao Posted On : June 2nd, 2021
B.E. Electrical Engineering, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (2018)

My brother graduated in B.Tech (CS) from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology. I have heard about the advantages and disadvantages of enrolling in SLIET.

Campus:-

  • The campus is moderately large with 448 acres.
  • Fully furnished labs, well-maintained furniture, and a huge library with a good collection of books and journals, and research papers.
  • It has 13 clean hostels with a very good connection of high-speed LAN. It has sports facilities, medical services, a temple, a Gurudwara, ATM, banks, a shopping complex, and student activity centers.
  • One huge stadium to play multiple sports such as cricket, football, etc, a swimming pool, one beautiful lake, and two ponds, a hygienic canteen, and a restaurant with multiple eating joints.

Placements:-

If you spend your four years in this university, it wouldn’t be a waste of your money. Earlier, the placement of this college wasn’t good enough but last year a total of 41 companies visited the university and 195 students got placed in the best companies. Due to COVID, the placement is still in progress.

The top recruiters who came to the university in 2020 were Cognizant, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Nestle India, Capgemini, Softstar, Nature Bio Food, TCS, Ralson, Godrej, and many more.

Thus, the University keeps academics on priority and fun at the same time.

Sikkim Manipal University is a decent institute, with a diverse crowd, and some excellent placement records. The points below are a brief overview of all considerable aspects of Sikkim Manipal University.

  • The campus is situated in a remote location. The internal infrastructure is moderate. But, students always head towards a successful career.
  • Companies like TCS, which is a major recruiter of the institute, consider SMIT as a tier-1 institute. Even some NITs are not falling under the tier-1 category.
  • Wells Fargo recruits students from only 4 colleges in India- BITS, RV College, VIT Vellore, and SMIT. This makes it evident that SMIT is popular among MNCs.
  • Several alumni of SMIT are employees in top companies like Oracle, Google, Microsoft, etc.
  • Due to the corporate exposure and reputation established by Well Fargo, it is considered that students from SMIT are quite creative, opportunistic, and energetic in their service.

How is life at NIT Trichy for a girl?

DS
Devi Sen Posted On : September 8th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2019)

The dress code for NIT Trichy has been removed for girls. The curfew timings of the hostel are more strict for girls than they are for boys.

The amount of freedom that any girl at NIT Trichy gets is very relative. For example, NIT Trichy is way more liberal with girls, when it is compared to VIT where a girl is not even allowed to shake hands with a boy or walk anywhere near to him. But on the other hand, if you compare it with BITS Pilani, then you might think that NIT Trichy is strict for girls. But when it comes to academics, clubs, cultural and technical festivals, there are no restrictions at all.

How is life at NIT Raipur? How are freshers treated? What is the scenario of ragging? What about hostel, mess food and seniors?

CR
Chandrakana Ray Posted On : March 26th, 2021
B.Tech National Institutes of Technology, National Institute of Technology, Raipur (2021)

NIT Raipur is a good college and one can definitely opt for this college. The infrastructure is very good with all facilities like wifi, laboratories, library, common rooms, etc are available.

  • The campus placements are also good enough especially for computer science students where they get placed in many top companies.
  • It has a good environment where you can learn many things besides academics and improve your soft skills too.
  • The course curriculum is nice and the faculty members are experienced and knowledgeable in their subjects.
  • Freshers are treated very well in this college and the seniors are very helpful too. They are friendly and help in academics by teaching important topics and helping to complete the assignments.

NIT Raipur is completely free of ragging as it is strictly prohibited in this college and there are certain rules to stop ragging in college. There are also some officers assigned to take care of the freshers and prevent ragging inside the campus.

The hostel scenario is not up to the mark. You will get a room based on your JEE rank and in some cases, students don't even get a room and they have to stay outside of the college. The mess food is also not that good and the quality gets degrading day by day. So life at the hostel wouldn't be good if you expected something great.
