Should I go for CSE in Techno India College of Technology, Rajarhat, or UEM Kolkata?

BM
Biswajit Maiti Posted On : March 28th, 2023
B.Tech Computer Science, University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata (2020)

Before choosing a college, you should ask yourself a few questions to determine which one is suitable for you. Here are some questions to consider:

  • Can you handle rigid discipline or do you want your college to be a bit relaxed?
  • Can you keep up an 80% attendance or are you a frequent class bunker?
  • Can you give up fun and mischief for a better future or do you want to have fun and then have a mediocre future?
  • Do you want 100% guaranteed placements with good salary or do you want 95% guaranteed placement with a manageable salary?
  • Do you want to be trained for GATE, government jobs, and company interviews or not?

If your answers are "yes" to the former part of the questions, then UEM is the college for you. Although the travel route may be tough and discipline is rigid with stiff attendance requirements, UEM offers a variety of opportunities that can benefit your future. Here are some advantages of UEM:

  • You can participate in IIT workshops, and competitions, and even go to America for science fairs.
  • The fests are sophisticated and free of drinking and cheapness, providing a better environment for academic and professional growth.
  • UEM offers a guaranteed placement with a good salary package, giving you a sense of security for your future.

On the other hand, if your answers are for the latter part of the questions, then Techno India may be a better fit for you. Here are some advantages of Techno India:

  • The college is relatively relaxed with no strict rules, providing more freedom for students.
  • There is huge fun with a rocking fest, including drinks and super celebrities.
  • Although Techno India doesn't provide GATE or government job preparation, the college does provide standard training for company interviews.

However, it's important to note that while Techno India offers a more enjoyable college experience, your future may not be as secure. It's essential to put in the effort to ensure a good future.

In summary, UEM is a suitable choice for students who prioritize academic and professional growth, while Techno India is a better fit for those who value a more relaxed and enjoyable college experience.

Which is better for a B.Sc in Chemistry (Hons.), St. Xavier's Kolkata or Jadavpur University?

IS
Ipsha Sharma Posted On : February 22nd, 2021
Studied B.Sc. Statistics at Bethune College, Kolkata (2021)

The general preference is that none of the two colleges is a feasible option for pursuing B.Sc (Chemistry). The reasons behind this are listed separately below for both the colleges:

  • Xavier’s is not a good option for chemistry. The faculty is not equipped in teaching in-depth concepts. They do not provide the requisite exposure for broadening a student's knowledge base.
  • A general tendency of faculties is that they don’t recommend books. A huge amount of knowledge is gained by using internet sources which in turn makes them dependent on electronic sources.
  • Internal politics is also an inevitable element of the campus culture. A lot of distraction is inherent in the day-to-day activities.
  • Jadavpur University also gives very less exposure in terms of the knowledge base.
  • A large amount of attention is focused on internal politics which hampers the educational and professional growth of the candidates.

Both the colleges reflect quite a dismal picture for this particular course, but even if the choice has to be made it will shift towards Xavier’s Kolkata as in:

  • It is the only NAAC Accredited A++ institute in West Bengal making your degree more reputed and acceptable. It will provide larger scope for better career options in the market.
  • It allows individuals to look out to different personality domains of a candidate as it gives opportunity in the form of various cultural & social events.

Overall, Xavier’s is a better option than Jadavpur University in every aspect.

Is FMS better than XLRI?

MS
Moinak Saha Posted On : March 23rd, 2023
Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

I would strongly assert that FMS is way ahead of XLRI. I have mentioned a few strong points that support my opinion. Before I begin, let me enlighten you on the fact that this answer is based on thorough research and reviews of graduates of respective B Schools.

Fees

  • The major USP of FMS is its average fees with the best placements. FMS has an overall fee of around INR 2 lakhs for MBA and gives tough competition to the fees of XLRI which stands at INR 23.60 lakhs.
  • Anyone with common sense would prefer 2 lakhs over 23 Lakhs especially when the ROI is equally good or even better. You can live a stress-free life after your MBA with no burden or repaying a heavy loan.

Industry Acceptance

  • Let me clear the very common misconception that IIMs tags are preferred over anything by most companies. Well, FMS graduates have an equal demand and are in no way lower than an IIM graduates.
  • XLRI is the best choice when it comes to MBA-HRM. Most companies that offer HR roles prefer XLRI graduates even over IIMs.

Placements

  • FMS has made its high ROI known all over the world. It constantly hosts 100% placements. It has distinguished its identity as one of the highest ROI-producing B-schools globally. FMS Delhi's highest package stood at INR 1.23 CPA whereas the average package stood at INR 34.1 LPA and the median package stood at INR 31 LPA. 97% of offers were made above INR 20 LPA. A total of 27% of students were placed in the Consulting Sector and there was a 19% Increase in the number of students placed in the BFSI Sector compared to the last year.
  • XLRI placement scenario is outstanding. In its recent placement drive, XLRI recorded 100% Placement with the highest offer at INR 1.1 Crore. It offers a high ROI where the average placement package stands above INR. 24 LPA, while the general cost for its PGDM program is around INR. 11 LPA.

While both excel in placements, it’s the extremely low fees at FMS that make the ROI amazing.

Overall I would say that FMS is a clear winner when compared to XLRI
