ITM University Gwalior is much more well known as compared to the IPS academy. However, depending on the department one wishes to take admission in, the quality of education will differ. ITM University, Gwalior:

• The placement cell run by the college hosts placement drives for the students as well as has trained professionals guiding students to the best opportunities.
• Of 6000 students, so far 2700+ students have been in the last 3 years with average salaries between INR 4 to 12 lakhs per annum.
• Top recruiters include Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, Asian Paints, Swiggy, Phillips, etc.

IPS Academy:

• Students particularly from the engineering science backgrounds are provided with training to maximize their chances of being placed.
• The average salary at the institute is about INR 4 lakhs per annum and the highest package offered is about 17.48 lakhs per annum.
• Top companies visiting the institute include TCS, Indian Oil, Bridgestone, IBM, HSBC, etc. with a 60-70% placement rate.

Campus:

ITM University, Gwalior:

• The college is well known for its infrastructure and sports facilities. It also has a number of language and technology labs for students to learn better.
• It has one of the biggest libraries in the state and is equipped with 45 personal computers and comes with hostel facilities.

IPS Academy:

• The college has a number of badminton, tennis, and football courts as well as other sports facilities.
• It also has hostel facilities and a library with well-equipped labs and average wifi throughout the college.

While both universities have their pros and cons, finally, it boils down to the student to make a choice between the two. Although, at first glance, ITM is always preferred to IPS Academy.

Both the branches, whether CST in IIEST Shibpur or ETCE in Jadavpur University is worth their name. Still, there are many factors regarding Rankings, Admission Process, Fees, Scholarships, and Placements that differentiates them.Jadavpur University acquires a spot as 17th college in BTech amongst 300 in India 2020.IIEST Shibpur, on the other hand, stands firm with 21st ranking amongst Engineering institutes, as per NIRF Ranking 2020.

Admission:

Jadavpur University:

• To be eligible for the JU admission process, a student must have 10+2 with 45% and scores of WBJEE. Later, a counseling process takes place.
• 90% of seats at JU are for domicile General Category and 10% for all Indian students.
• Last year, the cut off for the general category ranged from 110-114,

IIEST Shibpur:

• IIEST Shibpur accepts students after they have their 10+2 scores with at least 45% and a minimum of 30% in English. The entrance for admissions is JEE Mains (Paper 1) scores.
• After a student passes the cutoff, admissions are given through JoSAA Counselling and CSAB Board.
• The cut off for general quota ranged from 4978-9379.

Fees:

• The overall fees of BTech in JU is far less in comparison to IIEST Shibpur. A student has to pay a minimum fee of INR 9,600 for the whole course whereas, a student from IIEST has to pay INR 1.37 lakhs per year.
• Apart from this, JU offers scholarships to meritorious students. A few are SN Scholarship and DAAD Scholarship.

PLACEMENTS:

Jadavpur University:

• According to the latest data, there was a 100% placement rate from JU. The highest annual package was INR 58 lakhs.
• The total number of eligible students from ETCE was 55, and 51 got placements.
• The average annual package for ETCE was INR 9 lakhs, and the highest was INR 39 lakhs.
• These students got into software and core companies. The top recruiters were Amazon, Synopsis, TATA Consultancy Services, HPCL, and Goldman Sachs.
• Some students even went for higher studies from this branch into IITs, IIMs, etc.

IIEST Shibpur:

• A drop in placements is visible from the past consecutive years in IIEST Shibpur. In 2017 it was 85.71%, 81.82% in 2018 and 72% in 2019.
• The average annual package of a CST student is INR 9 lakhs whereas the highest salary was INR 39.12 lakhs.
• 90 reputed companies came for final placement and made 462 offers.
• The top recruiters were Cognizant, Infinity Infosys Parks, Capgemini, etc.

Looking into the above factors, ETCE from JU proves to be a better option than CST in IIEST Shibpur in rankings, fees, placements criteria.

Among the above two institutes, SGSITS is a good institute for computer science in terms of reputation, placement, and learning opportunities.

• Being an older college, SGSITS has a greater reputation than IIITM Gwalior.
• Several students of SGSITS are now currently working on top MNCs like Amazon, Microsoft, SAP, Deloitte, etc, and they are mostly from CS & IT branches.
• The overall placement of Computer Science is almost 100% in the recent years, with annual packages ranging from several lakhs to a few per annum.
• The exposure and environment in SGSITS are much better, with a lot of events happening throughout the year. It has a much more sensitive crowd and provides a better learning opportunity.
• There are many alumni with 2 digits all-India rank in GATE, which is a great motivation.
• Indore has all kinds of facilities for tuitions and coaching for GATE, CAT, or GRE are easily available.

Overall, SGSITS is a decent Institute for Computer Science and above all, Indore is a better city to live in.

The general preference is that none of the two colleges is a feasible option for pursuing B.Sc (Chemistry). The reasons behind this are listed separately below for both the colleges:

• Xavier’s is not a good option for chemistry. The faculty is not equipped in teaching in-depth concepts. They do not provide the requisite exposure for broadening a student's knowledge base.
• A general tendency of faculties is that they don’t recommend books. A huge amount of knowledge is gained by using internet sources which in turn makes them dependent on electronic sources.
• Internal politics is also an inevitable element of the campus culture. A lot of distraction is inherent in the day-to-day activities.
• Jadavpur University also gives very less exposure in terms of the knowledge base.
• A large amount of attention is focused on internal politics which hampers the educational and professional growth of the candidates.

Both the colleges reflect quite a dismal picture for this particular course, but even if the choice has to be made it will shift towards Xavier’s Kolkata as in:

• It is the only NAAC Accredited A++ institute in West Bengal making your degree more reputed and acceptable. It will provide larger scope for better career options in the market.
• It allows individuals to look out to different personality domains of a candidate as it gives opportunity in the form of various cultural & social events.

Overall, Xavier’s is a better option than Jadavpur University in every aspect.

Automobile Engineering – Manipal University:

For admission in Automobile Engineering from Manipal University, a candidate needs a minimum of 50% aggregate in their 10+2 examinations (with Physics, English, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects). Also, the students need to undertake the MET (Manipal Entrance Test).

Placement Opportunities:

Electronics & Communications Engineering – Manipal University Jaipur:

Manipal University Jaipur has quite impressive placement opportunities. In their recent campus placements, the placement rate was 85% and the highest package offered was INR 42 LPA.

Automobile Engineering – Manipal University:

The placement cell of this university has numerous career opportunities for its students. In the recent university placements, the highest package offered was INR 43.3 LPA.

Although these universities have good placement and other facilities, the selection of a course should be made on the basis of individual interest and feasibility.
