Which should I choose IIEST Shibpur or Jadavpur University for CSE?

SB
Subhobrato Bose Posted On : November 3rd, 2021
B.E from Jadavpur University (2019)

IIEST Shibpur and Jadavpur University both are quite reputed universities. Over the past few years, the former has improved a lot too. However, choosing JU for your CSE degree will be better. Also, you should note that IIEST offers integrated M.Tech courses.

Although IIEST Shibpur is quite reputed, its placement record is not comparable to that of JU. In the recent placement drive at JU, the placement average was 100%. The average CTC offered at the campus was 19 LPA. Apart from the placement, there are also great research opportunities at JU.

The transformation of IIEST from BESU, has been quite effective. With time, IIEST can even become better than JU. However, as of now, JU is the better alternative.

Which is better, IIT BHU for chemical or IIT Tirupati for electrical?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : July 4th, 2023

IIT BHU and IIT Tirupati have their strengths and the choice depends upon your preferences.

  • IIT BHU- If you want a placement with a high package and it does not bother you whether you get placed in a core or non-core profile, IIT BHU Chemical is the right choice for you. The choice is also right for you if you can live in a crowded city and want a shared campus (IIT BHU shares its campus with Banaras Hindu University). Most people from the Chemical department go for non-core jobs since they offer better packages. IIT BHU also has a strong alumni base and the fame of the institution is a big highlight for students.

You can also join IIT BHU Chemical and try for a branch change. You will easily get ECE or EEE with some effort. In case you get stuck with Chemical, do not worry and go for non-core placements which are mostly open for all the branches.

Most placements at IIT BHU are in the non-core profiles.

  • IIT Tirupati- If you want to pursue Electrical Engineering, you want to end up in a core profile, and you are ready to settle down for a comparatively lower package, you should go for IIT Tirupati Electrical. It is a good option if you wish to become a notable alumnus of your institution and become part of a newly established and growing IIT. You will, however, not get access to an alumni network because IIT Tirupati is a very new institution (established in 2015). The campus has high-speed internet and is situated in the mountains. Sports facilities are also provided at IIT Tirupati.

Here are the course-fees & placement statistics for IIT BHU Chemical and IIT Tirupati Electrical-

AB

When choosing a college, it is important to consider various factors before making a decision. Here is some information to help you decide between NMAMIT (Nitte) and Manipal Institute of Technology (Manipal) for your education:

  • Placements: Manipal has a consistently high placement record, with companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Google visiting the campus for placements. On the other hand, NMAMIT's placement record is not as strong as Manipal's, and students have reported dissatisfaction with the placement process.
  • Campus Life: Manipal has a vibrant campus life, with numerous student clubs and organizations that host events and activities throughout the year. The campus is located close to the city, making it easy for students to explore nearby areas. On the other hand, NMAMIT's campus is located 50 km away from the city, and students have reported a lack of nearby places to hang out.
  • Faculty: Manipal has a highly experienced faculty, with professors who are experts in their respective fields. On the other hand, students at NMAMIT have reported issues with partiality among some teachers.
  • Infrastructure: Manipal has modern infrastructure and facilities, including well-equipped labs, libraries, and classrooms. NMAMIT's infrastructure has been reported to be outdated and in need of improvement.
  • Fees: Both colleges have a similar fee structure, with Manipal being slightly more expensive. However, considering the strong placement record of Manipal, the higher fees may be worth it in the long run.

In summary, while NMAMIT may have some drawbacks, it is important to note that every college has its pros and cons. It is important to research and evaluate various factors before making a decision. Ultimately, the "best" college for you will depend on your individual preferences and needs.

Is it wise to choose FMS Delhi over IIM Calcutta if I wish to pursue entrepreneurship after graduation?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : May 30th, 2023

Irrespective of the B school you choose between FMS and IIM Calcutta, you will surely have a bright future with many job opportunities. Had I been in your place I would have gone for IIM Calcutta for the following obvious reasons:

  • Infrastructure - IIM ABC are well known for state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities which is lacking in the part of FMS. The quality of college life is a crucial determining factor for any B School. IIM Calcutta offers a holistic B School experience.
  • Brand value: Sole of the most eminent personalities like Indra Nooyi and Ramachandra Guha, have graduated from IIM Calcutta improving its overall brand name. This branch-name comes into play while setting up your own business.
  • Alumni network: IIM Calcutta gives access to the elaborate IIM Calcutta alumni base.
  • Entrepreneurship: Another major perk of IIM Calcutta is its IIMCIP or innovation park to incubate promising startups. It has produced alumni like Ajit Balakrishnan (founder of Rediff.com) who have started and led successful companies.

FMS too has an elaborate list of successful alumni but IIM Calcutta is clearly a winner here.

For those who claim FMS provides better ROI, I don’t think a 20 Lakh loan might be an obstacle to your entrepreneurial plans. Most education loans have repayment periods of 15+ years and banks waive off interest rates and collateral requirements for IIM students.

AS
Anya Sharma Posted On : September 28th, 2020

Amity University Gurgaon ranked amongst the top 50 Business schools in India in 2019. Doon Business School has ranked 95th for private MBA by Outlook 2020. Both institutes are recognized by AICTE.

Listed below are the various criteria based on which we can analyse these institutes:

Admission:

Amity University- It offers MBA in 10 specializations. MBA at Amity costs around 8.4 lakhs.

  • The required eligibility criteria are graduation with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
  • The final selection is based on CAT/MAT/GMAT scores and performance in the Personal Interview conducted by the institute.

Doon Business School- DBS offers 4 other specializations along with a general MBA.

  • For admission in MBA, a valid score in CAT/MAT/CMAT/GMAT with 60% marks in 10+2+3 is required.
  • It also conducts Group Discussions and Personal Interview for final selection.

The total course fee is 4.79 lakhs.

Placement:

  • The highest package varies from time to time. However, it seems to remain around 14 LPA.
  • Top recruiters are Amazon, Accenture, Indian Navy, Wipro, Royal Bank of Scotland among others.

Doon Business School-

  • DBS students tend to get around 3.5 LPA to 4 LPA as an average package.
  • The highest package remains to be around 10 LPA.
  • Top recruiters are NDTV, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HCL Technologies among others.

Between Amity and DBS, DBS offers a better ROI as the course fee is less for the latter.

What should I choose, IIT Tirupati mechanical, IIT Dharwad CSE, IIT Mandi Mechanical, or ISM Dhanbad Engineering Physics?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : May 26th, 2023

All of the options you've mentioned are reputable institutions with strong programs in their respective fields. However, the best choice for you will depend on your individual interests, goals, and priorities.

  • The branches CSE, Electronics, and MNC(Math and Computing) offer better job opportunities with higher packages in comparison to other branches. Thus if you are in desperate need of a job, these branches will serve you best.
  • Mechanical Engineering is a branch best suited for those targeting a government job. This branch too has decent job opportunities considering the fact that India sets up more manufacturing sectors under Make in India initiative.
  • Engineering Physics is a core branch that has little to offer in terms of exposure and opportunities. I won’t suggest you go for this unless you are extremely passionate about Physics. You can take it if you are planning a branch change if you want to clear UPSC CSE.

Lastly, my suggestion would be to target top NITs instead and not go for a mediocre branch. Additionally, you may want to reach out to current students or alumni of each institution to get a sense of their experiences.
