Should I join TAPMI or go to University of Otago, New Zealand and pursue finance?

BG
Bidita Ghose Posted On : May 25th, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Most of the career and guidance websites have put TAPMI in the Tier-3 category. Comparing an MBA program from TAPMI to a master's in finance from a foreign country would certainly require us to know more details about the context.

If I talk about the ROI, TAPMI offers MBA programs across multiple domains in the fee range of 16 lacs - 19 lacs and has an average salary package of 13 lacs.

The cost of study at the University of Otago is surprisingly at par with TAPMI but the cost of living would definitely put your pockets off. The University of Otago charges a fee according to the courses you have enrolled in. The more subjects you take the more you gotta pay.

If you want exposure you could always try for foreign immersion program at TAPMI and other than the immersion program the college also offers you various opportunities to assimilate into the foreign company’s culture.

Which is better for mechanical engineering in Pune: VIIT, VIT, or MIT?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 18th, 2023

I have many friends pursuing Mechanical Engineering in Pune from institutes like CIIT, VIT or MIT. Here is a comparative analysis of the two based on some common aspects

  1. Infrastructure: Infrastructure-wise, MIT is way ahead of VIIT and VIT. It has better campus facilities and a more diverse curriculum than other institutes. VIIT also has a decent infrastructure followed by VIT.
  2. Academics : All the aforementioned institutes have a well-updated curriculum mainly because they are autonomous. The faculty pool in general is of similar quality and you will have to depend on self-study more or less everywhere you go.
  3. Diversity : MIT has a more diverse student pool and you will get to interact with people coming from different states. Based on the crowd diversity, the preference order would be MIT> VIT> VIIT
  4. Practical exposure : VIT offers the best practical exposure because its Mechanical Engineering program is the oldest among the aforementioned institutes. VIIT and MIT ME branch is new so the exposure offered is very limited. In fact, these students are taken to VIT for exposure.
  5. Placements: VIIT and MIT have a similar average package of around INR 7 LPA while VIT had a lower average package of around INR 4.77 LPA.

The final decision will depend on your future prospects and inclinations.

Which is better NIT Raipur civil, PEC Chandigarh civil, IIIT Naya Raipur ECE or any other IIIT ECE?

AM
Anisha Majumder Posted On : January 12th, 2021
Studied B.Tech in Civil Engineering at PEC Chandigarh, (2019)

Among all the above choices, PEC Chandigarh is preferred due to the scenario of placement, which is better compared to the others. Do not depend on the NIT or IIIT tag as PEC holds a better reputation as an educational institution.

The following table states some comparisons among the above institutes -

Particulars

IIIT Naya Raipur ECE

NIT Raipur Civil

PEC Chandigarh Civil

Other IIIT ECE

Total Fees

?5.34 Lakh

?5.52 Lakh

?4.6 Lakh

?5.34 Lakh

JEE Main Cut off

25862

39742

46501

--

Median Salary

?8 Lakh

?5.52 Lakh

?7 Lakh

--

Placement (Winning Institute- PEC Chandigarh)

  • PEC Chandigarh students have been offered the highest package of 42 LPA in recent years.
  • An overall median salary of 6.5 Lakh is observed in PEC, with a better placement percentage than others compared.

Students and Curriculum

  • The students at PEC are always quite good in their workflows, having outsourced knowledge and applicable capabilities.
  • In PEC, some branches like Civil Engineering are a little bit challenging due to the present set of faculty and curriculum, but overall, are satisfactory.

To conclude, though PEC being an excellent institute in terms of placement, is still unnoticed by most people due to the absence of an IIT or NIT tag. This is an advantage for NIT Raipur or IIIT Naya Raipur or any other IIIT to stand a step ahead in terms of fame.

Which is the best college for BMS in Mumbai among HR colleges- NM College, Mithibai College, HR College, or Jai Hind College?

SJ
Subham Joshi Posted On : January 19th, 2021
Studied at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics

There are a lot of factors which should be kept in mind while opting for either of the colleges. Some of such factors are mentioned below.

Attendance-

  • For attendance, HR is way more lenient than NM College. If you have a valid reason for low attendance such as preparation of CR, then you might be exempted.
  • However, this doesn't work in NM college, they are extremely strict about their attendance.

Distance- If you are a resident of Mumbai then you should consider the distance of the college from your home. It is an important factor to consider, and saves a lot of time and money.

Focus area-

  • If your goal is holistic development i.e. curriculum studies plus co-curricular activities, then NM college is the preferred choice.
  • HR is close to NM in this race. But NM provides a wider exposure owing to its central location of the college, surrounded by various other universities.

Let’s take a look at the advantages of all the above-mentioned colleges in a tabular form below.

Parameters

NM College

HR College

Jai Hind College

Mithibai College

Placement rate (2020)

100%

70%-80%

65%

50%

Average salary package (2020)

17.58 LPA

2 LPA

>2.5 LPA and <5 LPA

4 LPA – 5 LPA

Community- Often this factor is excluded while selecting a college, but this factor is as important as any of the above-mentioned factors. Although, if you have good people skills, you don’t need to consider it. But if you need a community then, in NM you will be surrounded by Gurjatis and in HR by Sindhis.

Infrastructure-

  • NM College is up-to-date with its infrastructure regardless of the fact that it is one of the oldest and well-known colleges in Mumbai.
  • HR College is outdated, not maintained, in terms of infrastructure.

Cost- If you are not a resident of Mumbai, South Mumbai is expensive in comparison to West Mumbai.

Thus, keeping the above analysis in mind, NM College is the best out of the four colleges.

I want to pursue a master's in economics. Which one should I choose: Delhi School of Economics, JNU, Indian Statistical Institute, Paris-Sorbonne University or University of Munich?

SG
Snigdha Goyal Posted On : July 8th, 2022
Studied at Delhi School of Economics

All of these institutes are excellent choices for a masters in Economics. If you want to study Quantitative and Mathematical Economics, then ISI will be the best option among these. ISI Kolkata placements are pretty good. Students get recruited as Data scientists, Financial Analysts, Risk Analysts, and other similar positions. You will get good scopes for higher studies as well.

DSE is an excellent option for Economics masters. It offers good placements. Recent highlights of DSE placements show the average CTC for MA Economics is around INR 5 LPA. But the institute has a huge batch size.

Paris Sorbonne University and University of Munich are excellent options as well. These institutes are especially good for research.
