When you are selecting an engineering college, there are several parameters you ought to consider even before jumping to a conclusion. Those parameters are as follows.

  1. The College Ranking
  2. College Placements
  3. ROI

However, the rankings can change with time. Yet, a few of the colleges you still can keep an eye on are mentioned below.

  1. R.V College of Engineering
  2. Christ University
  3. IIIT Bangalore
  4. NCET

Although, when deciding such a crucial career choice, you should opt to take insights from an expert who somehow can help you see both the merits and demerits of enrolling in a college. That means, having a brief talk with a career counselor might not be a bad choice. While choosing a good career counseling company, run a check on their backgrounds, strengths, domain knowledge, and more.

How is the placement scenario in IIT Hyderabad for an M.Tech in the CSP branch?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : May 15th, 2023

IIT Hyderabad is one of the fastest-growing new IITs that has almost reached the level of older IITs in no time. Its location of being in one of the biggest industrial cities of India plays a big role in its fast-paced development. My sister was a student of the CSP branch (MTech RA) and enlightened me about the placement scenario there. However, she passed out in 2016 so the placement stats are for that year only.

The CSP department of IIT Hyderabad has extremely learned and experienced faculty with a decent placement scenario even better than VLSI.

  • In 2015-16, CSP recorded 80% placement with an average salary above INR 10 LPA.
  • In the 2016–17 placement session, CSP boasted of 100% placement with the average CTC standing at INR 12 LPA. Some students even received more than one offer.

Considering the improved trend, the placement scenario of CSP at IIT Hyderabad is currently expected to be even better.

What types of questions are asked in the written test and interview at IIT Guwahati for Mtech in Environmental Engineering?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : May 5th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

My brother has given the written test and interview at IIT Guwahati for MTech in Environmental Engineering and he shared the list of questions that he was asked.

Written Test: It is taken to evaluate your accuracy and grasp of concepts. The written test is usually very easy with questions covering basic concepts both numerical and theoretical. Enough time is given and all you need to do is focus on writing accurately.

Interview

The interviewer asks you basic questions regarding your

  • Research interests
  • Final year project (his project was on sullage treatment using wetlands)
  • Water treatment process
  • Surface Overflow rate
  • Coagulation theories

One suggestion from my side is that always go for the field that intrigues you in MTech else you will end up suffering for 2 years.

How good are the placements in Anna University for M.Tech students in biotechnology?

SG
Sanjay Gupta Posted On : December 19th, 2022
M. TECH from Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India

The placement opportunities for M.Tech students in biotechnology at Anna University are very rare. My friend is a student of Anna University currently pursuing M. tech in biotechnology. She told me that the reality is different once you get into college. No doubt the teachers and curriculum are top notch, but the sole focus throughout the entire first year is studies. There are no practicals at all. Rather it looks like studying the core subjects of B.Tech with higher level education.

The second year has both minor and major projects. Once you are done with the projects you have to do the job seeking alone. There are no placements. Sometimes your mentor can offer you a decent package that will give you sufficient industrial exposure. After this you can apply for high-paying jobs also.

Will a gap of 4 years between a B.Tech and an M.Tech affect placements in IIT Delhi?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : April 10th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

There is no certainty if a gap of 4 years between BTech and MTech will affect placements in any way because it all depends on what you did during the gap. If you were working, then your experience will have neither a positive effect nor a negative effect as the recruiters come with fixed roles and packages and it’s not MBA so the gap does not really matter for them.

Before joining MTech you can analyze what the current job will give you in 2 years in comparison to the MTech degree. Only then make a sound decision. All in all, you will require more than normal efforts to get into MTech.

Some points pertaining to MTech in general and its placements specifically are mentioned below:

  • MTech is a coursework degree rather than a research work-based degree whose purpose is to train engineers for specific tasks instead of research work
  • There are many companies visiting for placements that look for MTech students specifically because of their skills.
  • Many MTech students can be seen getting excellent packages and it’s just a myth that companies prefer BTech over MTech and their job opportunities are scarce.
  • Many big product development companies from across the world like Microsoft India, Deloitte, ABB, and John Deere hire MTech graduates.

To make the most out of your MTech degree, you have to invest maximum effort and then reap the benefits.

Yes, Thapar University is a good option for pursuing an MTech in Computer Science and Engineering. The program covers various areas of computer science and is designed in such a way that students can complete it solely based on advanced coursework. Some problems, however, are taught through a combination of both coursework and project work.

As for the placements, usually, 100% of the batch gets placed in some of the most reputed research laboratories and companies in the country and even across the globe.

What about NIT Raipur for an M.Tech in VLSI? Is it worth doing an M.Tech from NIT Raipur?

AS
Aditi Sukla Posted On : August 30th, 2022
B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Raipur

NIT Raipur isn’t a good option for an MTech in VLSI. It is a new branch and only a few branches have been through placements. According to NIT Raipur placement highlights, the placement rate isn’t that good for M.Tech VLSI. The majority of the students get non-core placements. Only around 4-5 students get core jobs.

It is a good option, in terms of research. Students of MTech VLSI have good research publications. The department also has decent facilities and technology to carry out research work.
