What is the best subject for doing an M.Tech in Manipal Institute of Technology?
The choice of subjects for doing an MTech depends on your inclinations and also your engineering background. In my opinion, the best bet would be Microelectronics or digital electronics and communication.
- The intake for Microelectronics is limited so your rank needs to be pretty good to increase chances of selection. The intake is more for other branches.
- The Subjects also almost remain the same with a variation of three subjects and labs.
- Microelectronics students will be working on cadence and verilog whereas Digital Electronics and Communication students will be working with Matlab. You have the freedom to learn both.
Additionally, there is a branch called the School of Information Science (SOIS) that offers a degree equivalent to an MTech degree which is MS. Its course is at or with industrial trends. The overall curriculum focuses more on lab work than theoretical knowledge. The courses offered here are embedded systems and VLSI digital electronics.
In all, MS offers a better hands-on experience but MTech is a better choice if you want to pursue teaching.

The better option depends on what your purpose and life goals are and what you want from your Master.
If you want to pursue a career in research (PhD) the best option for you is IIT Guwahati. Being one of the oldest and most highly reputed IITs, it has high credibility and will fetch you Ph.D. interviews much more easily. Additionally, IIT Guwahati also offers immense exposure through foreign exchange programs. IIT Guwahati has collaborations with various reputed universities and can be preferred over NITs.
However, if it's the jobs you are after, then NIT is a better option as it’s more accessible to employers. Still, IIT Guwahati will always be my first preference. Be it a job or higher education, IITs always give an edge to other engineering institutes.
How is the MTech ECE placement from IIT Kharagpur?
MTech placements for the ECE branch at IIT Kharagpur depend a lot on your specialization.
Those under VLSI and VIPES get placed with great packages and there are almost cent percent placements for them. VLSI students are usually offered core jobs in contrast to VIPES which offers both core and non-core jobs. There are a lot of software profiles offered to VIPES students.
Communication also has decent placements but not the same certainty as VLSI. Here companies like Qualcomm come for placements and some even are offered software profilers
How is the M.Tech in VLSI in NIT, Rourkela from a placement point of view? How are the professors?
NIT Rourkela has one of the biggest and most beautiful campuses in India. The scenario at MTech in VLSI specifically can be understood through the points below
- Faculty : The professors are experienced in their respective fields but the extent to which you can seek help from them depends on your willingness and passion.
- Infrastructure : The labs are equipped with all necessary instruments and other things like raw materials, machines, and software. Students are free to conduct research as per their will.
- Placements: Sadly no or very few VLSI core jobs are offered through campus placements. Most students end up with software jobs.
Overall, MTech in VLSI from NIT Rourkela is not very promising considering the limited opportunities and scope.
How much is the reimbursement for an MTech at OU or JNTUH?
If your family income is below 1 Lakh rupees and you have a certificate for the same from the Telangana Government, you can claim a fee reimbursement at OU or JNTUH. However, reimbursement and scholarship are available to those students who have qualified in Telangana state EAMCET/ECET/PGECET and got admission through counseling.
These documents are required to apply for the fee reimbursement- SSC Marks Memo, Inter or 10+2 Marks Memo, Transfer Certificate, Mee Seva Income Certificate, Mee Seva Caste Certificate for BC, SC/ST, Ration Card, Aadhaar Card, Bank Pass Book Front Page, Allotment Order, Passport Size Photo, Parents’ Aadhaar Cards, PAN Cards Information, Study Certificates for last 7 years in the state of Telangana.

What is the scope of M.Tech in industrial management from IIT BHU?
IIT BHU offers a decent MTech program in Industrial Management. The MTech programs at IIT BHU are multidisciplinary and research-oriented and the course curriculum is designed to meet the industry requirements. There is a huge exposure for higher education in industrial engineering management in the domain of supply chain management, operation research, inventory management, etc.
All the manufacturing and engineering companies offer jobs specifically to industrial engineers. Some of them are TATA Steel, Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, Maruti Udyog. There are also other companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc. to name a few that offer jobs. Government organizations like BSNL, ONGC, ISRO, etc. also offer jobs with handsome packages. The average package offered in 2019 campus placement was between 10 LPA to 58 LPA.

The academic life at IIT Madras is decent with very learned professors imparting heaps of wisdom and knowledge.
- IIT Madras hostel facilities are mediocre but you will adapt to them after a while.
- Internet facilities are available 24/7 except late at night and during academic hours (though always available in departments)
- There are a lot of monkeys inside the campus so you need to be careful
- IIT Madras campus has a decent working swimming pool
- There are usually no connectivity issues throughout the campus
Life at IIT Madras can also be felt real-time and no description can do justice to the experience.

One of my friends studied at JNTUH, here’s what I got to know from him. There are mainly two processes that need to be followed to apply for M.Tech in JNTUH through GATE.
- Most importantly, you would require to clear your GATE with a very good score to have a better opportunity of being accepted at the university.

IIT Bhubaneswar is part of new IITs that were established by the government. Even though the Institute is new the placements of IIT Bhubaneswar are good and rising in an exponential manner. In 2019, the placement rate for M-Tech was 69% and for Mechanical Engineering, it was 83%. Maximum placements offer for MTech students were received from Core and PSU sectors. ISRO, NCCBM, IOCL, etc are a few of the PSUs that took part in the placement drive. The average CTC offered was 11.4 LPA. The academics are also good for Mechanical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar.
