Should I drop one year to prepare for the DU JAT? I am studying biochemistry from SVC and the schedule is very hectic moreover Im not getting a sufficient time for my preparation.

studied at University of Delhi (2021)

One thing you should know before making any decision is to identify your career goal. If management is your choice, opt for it. You can continue the same because DU JAT requires a dedicated preparation for 3 months maximum.

It is suggested that you can keep yourself aware of current affairs, start reading newspapers for vocabulary enhancement, interact more on social media regarding DU JAT and analyze the previous year's trends.

Try doing your biochemistry studies as well as the preparation of DU JAT side by side for at least one hour daily. It is definitely a hectic process but it ultimately pays off.

I'm studying aerospace engineering from IIEST Shibpur. What should I do to join ISRO? It is the only dream I have.

RD
Ria Dhar Posted On : July 7th, 2021
B.Tech Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur

It is seen that usually, the exam conducted by ISRO, that is ICRB, takes students from the different branches of engineering that include electrical, electronics, and mechanical sections. So the exam syllabus is mostly based on these branches only.

  • The students pursuing aerospace engineering, mechatronics, aeronautical engineering, metallurgy, and related fields can apply for the scientist under the mechanical branch as on lower level mechanical engineers are sufficient to work in the related fields as well.
  • Since you can apply but most of the paper will be based on a mechanical portion only that would be a kind of drawback for you.
  • Also, there are other vacancies in ISRO for which you can apply but those vacancies usually demand higher degrees, including M.Tech and Ph.D. in the aerospace field.

Lastly, we can conclude that you have two options if you dream to work in ISRO. Firstly you can apply for a mechanical branch while filling an application for the exam or you can pursue higher studies and then apply for the vacancies in ISRO. This approach can help you immensely in turning your dream into reality.

It is absolutely fine, given that you did both your grad and post grad from PTU. The process of WES evaluation has changed for PTU. You can no longer send the documents on your own. Only the university can send your transcripts.

Yes, IIT BHU is an autonomous body, just like any other IITs. But certain powers are vested in BHU.

IIT BHU shares the same campus as IIT BHU. BHU and IIT BHU shares the same auditorium, badminton-squash court, swimming pool. Although IIT BHU has separate hostels, grounds, library, gym, etc. Also, IIT BHU organizes separate placements, fests, and other events.

There are numerous opportunities for a student enrolled in this course to lead their career in areas other than core manufacturing.

  • This is a unique course that provides a breadth of knowledge in the area of supply chain and operations with a piece of in-depth knowledge about the advanced manufacturing process.
  • Students of this course have been placed in reputed IT companies as well as in prestigious consulting companies.
  • Many students have got placed in companies offering roles in supply chain and logistics.
  • Students from this course have also bagged summer internship opportunities with marketing and finance profiles.

What should I take a CSE at IIITD or a CSE at IIT Ropar or IIT Dhanbad?

KC
Kiran Chugh Posted On : January 13th, 2021

IIT institutions will always have a better tag in terms of reputation and value of degree when it comes to choosing between any other universities. Although IIT Patna and IIT Dhanbad are fairly new branches of IIT, the services and quality of education is rapidly improving and has become almost equivalent to some of the old IIT institutes.

Faculty at IIITD is much better than the IITs but one of my friends opted for IIT Patna seeing the ‘IIT’ tag. The CSE branch is constantly improving every year and choosing an IIT campus will ensure a diverse, highly academic and comparatively better peer group to be part of.

The table below shows a brief overview of the institutes:

Particulars

IIIT Delhi

IIT Ropar

IIT Dhanbad

NIRF Ranking

55

22

15

Placement Percentage

98.96%

97.50%

90.23%

Average Package

17.43 LPA

15.85 LPA

10 LPA

Features:

IIT Dhanbad and IIT Ropar offer much better campus with modern infrastructure, updated lab facilities, excellent faculty members, huge library resources, good hostel facilities and more.

Student Life:

IIT campuses are clearly known for conducting the best extra-curricular activities and events. They conduct cultural fests, workshops and seminars as part of the teaching module and also have multiple inter-disciplinary activities across the semester.

Branches:

  • IIT campuses offer a higher number of branch specializations and also offers programs in niche subjects, which gives students more options to choose from based on their choice of study.
  • The institutions are backed by research facilities to encourage students to take up research as part of their module if preferred.

Placements:

  • The placements at IIT are much more diverse in terms of number of companies and types of companies that take part.
  • They offer much more job opportunities with core companies within the CSE department.
  • Some of the top recruiters are Amazon, Capgemini and Adobe.

Therefore, given a choice, students must choose to opt for an IIT campus as compared to IIITD. Delhi has an advantage due to its location but IITs surpasses all the factors.

Which is better RGIPT or IIT-BHU or IIPE?

AT
Aditya Tiwari Posted On : February 15th, 2022
B.Tech Petroleum Engineering, Indian Institute Of Petroleum and Energy, Vishakapatnam (2020)

RGIPT, IIT BHU, and IIPE, all three are reputed national-level colleges. Choosing among these three, depends on the course you are interested in. Selecting the right branch is more important than brand recognition of the college. So, don’t choose IIT BHU, only because of the IIT tag. It’s true that the IIT tag offers certain advantages. But for job opportunities, your branch will matter more.

  • If you are getting Ceramics or Pharmaceutical at IIT BHU and Petroleum Engineering at RGIPT, then go for RGIPT. The Petroleum and Chemical branch of RGIPT offers more placement opportunities and exposure.
  • If you are interested in other core branches then IIT BHU is a better option.
  • Now, between RGIPT and IIPE, the former is the better choice for Petroleum Engineering. The course curriculum for the branch is similar but you will get better alumni support at RGIPT.
  • For Chemical Engineering, IIPE has a better course structure. Also, IIPE has a huge locational advantage. HPCL’s refinery is located in Visakhapatnam. The institute is only a few hours away from Kakinada, which has a huge potential of producing Methane Hydrates.
