Below is the profile and experience of one of the students who has done Mechanical Engineering Graduate from NIT Surat and has given an IIM Indore interview.
Profile - X/XII/B Tech: 95/95.6/84.7/CAT- 99.07, currently working in RIL.
There were only two panelists present during his interview, both of whom were in their forties. They started the interview by asking the student for a brief introduction, including his hobbies, interests, strengths, weaknesses, work experience, and so on. They used to frame other questions about him or his subjects based on the student's responses. They also evaluated his general knowledge, current events knowledge, and mental alertness.
You must review your bachelor's course material, remain informed about world events, see a basic understanding of the nation's economy and finances, and be extremely knowledgeable about your professional experience. Make it a habit to read the newspaper on a regular basis.
JIPMER messes serve good quality food. You can either pay the monthly fee and have your meals in a single mess, or you can visit any mess and pay for that meal. You can also change your mess monthly. This is a really good system as it helps beat monotony.
The common mess serves both North and South Indian dishes, separately. Addons like chicken 65, fish, omelet, egg, chicken gravy, etc. can be obtained at very affordable prices. The breakfast consists of idli, dosa, Pongal, poori, bread, jam, and sometimes noodles as well.
During lunch, you’ll get rice, sambhar, rasam, curd, one vegetable, chapati/poori, curry, salad, and papad. The messes serve good snacks with beverages. During dinner, Uthappam/Poori/chapati with rice and curry is served. Dosas, juices, cold drinks, and other food items are available in the common mess and cafeterias at very cheap prices.
The hostel food at JIPMER is of good quality and good taste. The best part is that the meals are very affordable.
The Department of Physics and Astrophysics, Delhi University is one of the oldest and highly regarded departments of the institute. The faculty pool is actively involved in their own research work and encourages the students to do the same. researchers in their respective fields. This department has a plethora of experimental and theoretical studies.
Like every coin has two sides, this department has its own sets of weaknesses too. One of the main drawbacks is the high intake around 300. Thus high intake makes it difficult to get equal attention from teachers related to research, Ph.D. guidance, and seminars. It is also very challenging to organize any scientific or non-scientific programs because the batch size is very large and not every student can be convinced. The exams of this department are challenging and the limited resources make things more so.
If you are a sincere student who is ready to commit yourself to hard work and persistence you will excel here without any doubt.
Yes, XLRI HRM students get placed in general consulting roles also. According to recent statistics, around 15% of students from HRM get placement opportunities in consulting firms. But most of these consulting jobs offered were either from Big4 or niche HR Consulting firms such as Mercer, Hewitt, Hay, etc. No sales/marketing roles are offered at XLRI. Management Trainee program is the only way to achieve a successful sales stint.
NICMAR has existed for more than 30 years and is a pioneer institute in construction management. The curriculum has been specifically designed to cater to the future requirements of construction managers.
The faculty members are exceptionally great in terms of industrial experience. A few subjects might seem easy but they will add great value to your career. However, NICMAR is not under any university but is well-known in India and Middle-Eastern regions. The only advantage is that it is practical-oriented to the students.
If you wish to join any construction management institute, it will be recommended to have atleast 2 years of industrial experience. You will be able to grasp the concepts easily.
I have a friend who attended Amrita University and here’s what he had to say about life at the campus.
Academic Life:
Campus life:
Hostel life:
The weekdays go in a blur from waking up in a hurry, rushing to the class with breakfast in hand, attending 4 classes, lunch break to the sleepy classes after lunch. In the evening you can hang out on campus, play some sport or take long walks.
On weekends, students usually go out to the city to catch a movie or some even go home. Life is good at the campus, you will be busy with many activities.
The future of M.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence in India is very bright and will take a little time to come into proper existence. After a few years, AI will be in the craze at the top level. AI is still in the growing or the initial phase. It is a huge field and is a wide area to explore. The important sub-fields of AI are Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Computer Vision. These sub-fields are very large and will be trending in the market which will require skilled AI developers as they will be in more demand in the future.
The parameters to judge a college varies from an individual to another and is therefore different for anywhere. IIIT Hyderabad or IISc Bangalore are good options for an M.Tech in AI. As they are the top institutes when it comes to pursuing M.Tech. in the Computer Science domain in India. They are doing some good research works and are not only interested in the theory work or the textbook. Rather they are focussing on the practical implementation.
To draw a better comparison, let’s differentiate IIT Roorkee and IIT Mumbai on the basis of branches
CSE- On the basis of the research output, location, and popularity, Mumbai is the winner in this case while Roorkee stands in 4 or 5 positions.
ECE/Communications/Signal Processing: IIT Roorkee and KGP are the most preferred IITs. But considering the job opportunities, IIT Mumbai is again a winner.
EE: IIT Delhi's Electrical Engineering is considered the best-rank department internationally among other IITs. Mumbai and Roorkee are equally good but IIT Bombay again is slightly at an advantage.
Mechanical: Madras and Mumbai are the best. Roorkee is also decent but yet not at par with IIT Bombay standards.
Chemical: IIT Bombay has an upper due to its better research output and the number of practicing chemical engineers.
Physics: Applied science is definitely better at IIT Roorkee. Even though its research and lab quality is comparable, however, IIT Bombay is preferred owing to the diversity in handling research problems.
Mathematics: In this case, IIT Kanpur takes the lead followed by Roorkee and Mumbai.
Chemistry: IIT Bombay is the best in every aspect.
Civil- IIT Roorkee’s Civil is considered the best in Asia.
Space Sciences: Owing to its collaboration with ISRO, IIT Roorkee is the best.
Manufacturing: Although IIT Roorkee is decent when compared to BITS and KGP, it’s below average.
