IIT Tirupati was recently established and hasn’t been ranked yet by NIRF. It belongs to the new generation of IITs and is yet to make a mark in the education sector. But that being said, it has collaboration with CSIR and COE for providing students with industrial training and exposure.

BTech Mechanical engineering

• The total credits of the curriculum are 166.

• Semester VI requires a summer internship which is either research or industry-based.

• Placement- IITM has an average placement in Engineering Design of around 7 Lakhs to 26 Lakhs and highest of 1.33 Cr whereas IIT Bhubaneswar has an average placement of Rs. 11 LPA. highest being 39 LPA

• Future Scope of the course opted- Engineering Design has more scope and job opportunities when compared with mechanical engineering.

• Alumnus Network of the college- Established in 1959 IITM has a strong alumnus network when compared to IIT Bhubaneswar.

Considering all the given factors Engineering Design at Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has a slight edge over Mechanical engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. IIT Madras is one of the prestigious colleges if you want to go for engineering courses. The Engineering Development course at IITM is a full time 5 years dual degree course leading to B.Tech. in Engineering design and M.Tech in automotive engineering or biomedical design, with an option to go for an interdisciplinary M.Tech in Robotics. Also opting for Engineering Design at IITM not only exposes you to the mechanical aspects of design, but also in electronics, controls, and embedded systems for all-round skill development. Engineering Development course at IIT Madras provides the students with proper infrastructure and ample of opportunities along with semester-long internship where students get industry exposure. You’ll also have great future prospects after pursuing this course. You can go for your own startup or seek an on-campus placement or even opt for further studies in the same field. Also of all the departments and courses offered by IIT Madras, the Engineering Development course has one of the best past placement record. Every year many companies visit the campus. Both the colleges, UIET PU and CGC Landran were placed in the rank band of 201-250 according to the NIRF Rankings of 2020. The course duration for both the colleges is for 4 years but UIET offers a BE degree, whereas CGC Landran offers a B.Tech degree.

CGC Landran (ME):

• JEE Main scores are accepted for admission to this college.

• The Mechanical Engineering stream has only 60 seats in CGC Landran. The total course fees for the duration of 4 years is Rs.3.48 lakh.

• The placement rate for the ME stream is 40-50%.

Faculty: The student to faculty ratio is around 400:25 which implies the number of teachers compared to the students is very low.

Placement:

• The Placement rate for the ME stream is 15%.

• Only 15% of students of this stream were placed in core companies after graduation at UIET.

Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College (BVM) is located in Gujrat and is a grant-aided engineering college. The institute is affiliated with the Gujarat Technological Institute and provides a BE course for Mechanical Engineering.

Dharmsinh Desai University (DDIT) is located in Nadiad, Gujrat, and is one of the most prospering universities in Gujarat which has been ranked in the band of 101-150 best universities in India by the NIRF ranking frameworks. It offers a BTech in Mechanical Engineering.

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) is located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The university is a member of AIU and is NAAC accredited with an ‘A’ grade. It offers a BTech program for Mechanical.

Both the institutes offer decent Mechanical Engineering programs with good placements. Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) is famous for its petroleum engineering courses as the name suggests. Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College (BVM) is a grant-aided autonomous college and offers mechanical engineering courses among other B.Tech degrees.

Infrastructure:

• Apart from having all the necessary machines in the Mechanical lab, BVM also has a functional boiler that students can learn from.

PDPU:

The placement opportunities for mechanical engineers in PDPU are not as high as those for BVM.

• Still, PDPU students get campus placement opportunities from Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Power, MG Motors, Nyara Energy, Adani Power, Worley, etc.

• The annual CTC offered during campus placements for mechanical students was INR 6.75 LPA. The average CTC for Mechanical is lower compared to other core branches like compared to electrical & civil engineering (10 LPA).

BVM:

• BVM engineering students get campus placements from over 30+ MNCs. Around 70% of mechanical engineering students got placed.

NIE Mysore has been ranked 175th under the Indian engineering college category by NIRF,2020. NIE offers a BE degree in Mechanical engineering.

• KCET rank falling under 3327 for the general category and fetch admission in b.tech course at mechanical engineering branch PESU.
