For mechanical engineering, which is better, Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology or ABES Engineering College?

Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) ranks among the top 25 institutes of India by India Today. The institute consists of the best faculty members for mechanical engineering. 

ABES Engineering College is ranked 1st among the engineering colleges in Lucknow. The institute has one of the best placement records where more than 1260 job offers were made to the 2019-20 batch.

Admission process:

GCET

  • Minimum of 50% marks with physics, chemistry and mathematics as the compulsory subjects. 
  • Admissions are based on UPSEE counseling; if seats are vacant, they are filled with the management quota.
  • The cutoff required in the UPSEE exam is 155 - 127845.
  • The number of seats available is 120.
  • The total fees required is INR 7.2 LPA. 

ABES

  • A minimum of 45% marks with physics and maths as compulsory subjects.
  • The candidates will be shortlisted based on the valid scores in JEE Main.
  • The final selection will be based on UPSEE counseling.
  • The cutoff required is in the range of 560 - 83110.
  • The fees required is INR 5.53 LPA. 
  • The total intake is 180.

Placements

The placement in GCET is pretty much good and decent. Around 80% of the students get job placements every year. Top-notch companies always visit the campus and offer handsome packages to the students of INR 3 LPA.

ABES Engineering college provides on-campus placements to the students. The year witnessed 212 offers with an average salary of INR 5 LPA. 1260 placement offers were received and 759 students got placed in 2019 placement drive.

ABES engineering college has some of the best infrastructure facilities available for the students in terms of well-equipped laboratories, well-structured hostels and well-equipped seminar halls.

Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology provides almost 100% placement every year. The faculty members are all from NITs or IITs. Thus it is a better choice for mechanical engineering than ABES Engineering College.

Which is better, IIT BHU for mechanical or IIT Indore for mechanical?

Both are good IIT’s but IIT BHU being an old institute offers a vast alumni network due to which placements percentage is high. Also being 100 years old institution IIT BHU has well-established labs with good equipment. Whereas, IIT Indore is a new IIT and still developing. According to NIRF Rankings, IIT BHU has a better ranking that Indore: IIT BHU(11), IIT Indore(13).

Mechanical Department is one of the oldest departments of IIT BHU and has many experienced faculties who are experts in their fields. Research culture at IIT BHU is also better than IIT Indore and there is a lab in IIT BHU being sponsored by DRDO for research. The course curriculum for Mechanical is nearly the same at both the colleges. As IIT Indore is recently established (2008) it has modern infrastructure while the infrastructure of IIT BHU is quite old.

Apart from academics, the IIT BHU Gymkhana has lots of clubs and councils like Sports, Science and Tech Council, Film & Media Council, Cultural Societies which boosts personality as well as skills. Also, IIT BHU has 3 fests (Spardha, Technex and Kashiyatra) that witnessed the participation of students from over 1500+ colleges and schools and top motivational speakers and celebrities.

Regarding placements stats of IIT BHU, top companies, and government organizations like DRDO, ISRO, IAF, Maruti, Bajaj, L&T, BHEL, HUL, IOCL, etc. visits campus for recruiting students. In 2019 a total of 109 students got placement from Mechanical Engineering with average salary package ranging between 10 LPA to 58.21 LPA. The average package offered in IIT Indore was around 16 LPA. Placements of IIT BHU has an edge over IIT Indore.

So, overall IIT BHU Mechanical is better than IIT Indore Mechanical.

Yes, the Bannari Institute of Technology is a good college for Mechanical Engineering with decent placement opportunities. The institute is NBA accredited and AICTE approved. It is affiliated to Anna University. The college offers a Bachelor of Engineering program in Mechanical Engineering.

Admission-

  • Students with 10+2 are eligible for admission to the program.

  • The final selection is made through TENA counseling.

  • BIT has 180 seats for BE in Mechanical.

You can choose IIT Bhubaneswar for an MTech in Mechanical Engineering. The placement record for the branch is great. L&T ECC, Belcan, and Maruti Suzuki are some of the major recruiters of the branch. Many non-core companies take part in the placement as well., 

According to the recent highlights of IIT Bhubaneswar placements, MTech Mechanical students receive an average CTC of around INR 15 LPA.

First, you should decide which branch you want to pursue Mechanical or CSE, as that would help you choose the institute.

Thapar University which is the foremost university for Mechanical in the country ranked 29 among NIRF rankings. On the other hand, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Maharaja Agrasen, both the colleges are the foremost universities for CSE Branch in the country that placed 38th and 114 respectively.

About Courses And Admission:

All the Universities offer a full-time 4-year B.Tech program to the students. The basic eligibility of all the University is the student must have passed the 10+2 examination with any recognized board and the admission will be based on JEE Main Rank.

While Easwari Engineering College is well known for its placements and teaching quality, BS Abdur Rahman University tops the college when it comes to infrastructure as well as research in the field of mechanical engineering.

Eligibility: Easwari Engineering College offers a BE in Mechanical Engineering whereas B.S. Abdur Rahman University offers a BTech in the same.

Easwari Engineering College:

  • Students are required to have Physics or Mathematics as a compulsory subject in 10+2.

  • Final admissions are carried out on the basis of the score obtained in the TNEA entrance test.

B.S. Abdur Rahman University:

If you are certain about your branch choice, then go for Civil at IIT Kanpur. If you aren’t sure about the branch then choosing IIT Kanpur among these three IITs will be better. In 2021, NIRF ranked IIT Kanpur #6 in the country. Although it’s not easy you can change your branch after a year. But you can’t change your college.
