Why is that BIT Mesra has not gained as much fame as BITS Pilani though it was setup before BITS, with good infrastructure?

KK
Khushi Kaur Posted On : May 10th, 2021
B.E Electronics and Communication Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (2018)

BITS Pilani is located in Rajasthan, which is and used to be a part of India's so-called active north. As a result, BIT Mesra is not preferred by the people of the north, who have better options of IITs and NITs. While some go for the south. It is only an ideal place for Bihar, Bengal, Orisha, Jharkhand, and the neighboring state.

BIT Mesra was ranked 7th by India Today Group Survey, but it remains isolated in terms of fame because students are the biggest marketer for a deemed institution. If you say, “Hey, I am from Bit Mesra,” the likely answer would be, “Is it a subsidiary unit of Bits Pilani?” As BITS Pilani is more reputed.

Here are a few other reasons why BIT Mesra has not gained much recognition among the students.

  • The kind of behavior carried or promoted among teachers is more akin to a school teacher, so the title professor is unnecessary.
  • The management approach at BIT is very bad; there is a lot of paperwork to be done for any minor thing. From the time you enroll until the day you leave the campus you will have to go through many paper works.
  • Off campuses are given no value by the main campus, and this is a major reason why BIT is not mentioned with off campuses. Whereas Pilani has four centers that are advertised, in very good condition, and are given true care by the Pilani main campus. This is a major reason why Pillani is more well-known than Mesra.
  • There is no student council or student politics, and no student welfare council composed of fellow students exists or is promoted.
  • Apart from these, the governor of Jharkhand, who is only present at convocations, is the chancellor of Mesra, while Pilani is completely managed by the Birlas, with MR Kumar Mangalam Birla as the chairman.
  • Another major reason for Pillani's success is the engineering entrance exam pattern. BIT Pilani organizes a separate exam called BIT SAT, whereas BIT Mesra does not take any separate exam.

This all that I have learned through my connections at the institutes. Hope this helps in clearing your doubts.

How much time will it take for IIIT Guwahati to be fully established (gym, playing ground, different clubs extra)? Are there any plans the institute have for these things?

IK
Ishita Khanna Posted On : April 29th, 2021
Bachelor of technology Computer Science Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (2020)

A friend of mine is currently studying in the 2nd year at IIIT Guwahati and recently shifted to the new campus. However, the campus is still getting completed with minor changes remaining.

Here’s the current scenario at IIIT G according to him:

  • Gym: It is almost completed with basic types of equipment and benches. For the starting few semesters there were no machines and equipment. However, you can also join various gyms nearby the airport which is in close proximity to the college.
  • Playgrounds: You will see a lot of emphasis on sports and games, not only the outdoor but indoor like table tennis, carom, chess, etc. There are newly constructed basketball, tennis and badminton courts, football and cricket fields also.
  • Intercollege tournaments: You can actively participate in various sports/game tournaments and competitions held by clubs where you can compete against other colleges like IIT Guwahati, AEC, etc.
  • Clubs: You can choose among several clubs, some of them are Reading Club, Programming Club, Music Club, Quiz Club, Literary Club, Movie Club, Yoga, and fitness Club, Dance Club, Photography club, etc.

There are ample opportunities for extracurricular activities besides academics. Also, the recent increase of intake from 90 students to 230 students has led to a significant improvement in these fields. In the end, your interest and participation are what drives the campus.

Is the infrastucture of BITs Pilani, Pilani worst?

TM
Tanushree Mukherjee Posted On : July 19th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

BITS Pilani has an overall ranking of 30 by NIRF organization in 2020. As far as I know from one of my friends studying there, BITS Pilani has quite a good Infrastructure and supports the best facilities.

  • Compared to other BITS Pilani’s campuses, the chances are there that Pilani campus hostel rooms are not that great. But they are definitely better than those of many private / Govt. colleges.
  • Pilani campus does provide single room assistance to students from 2nd year and some of 1st-year students.
  • They have State of the Art infrastructure, fully air-conditioned classrooms, westernized washrooms, and nothing worth complaining about.
  • The library is one of the best, as it is beautifully organized.

BITS Pilani campus is growing and developing each day, so it can offer the best to their students. Though everything else concerned it has a better infrastructure than a lot of colleges around that area.

Is there a gym in NIT Jamshedpur?

Karishma Khatri Posted On : May 3rd, 2021

The answer is both, yes or no. It is because there is no separate building for Gym, in which you can get all the infrastructural facilities that are available in the so-called Gym along with the modern equipment.

However, you can get some of the Gym equipment in the hostel rooms. It includes mostly Yoga Mat, Dum-Bells, and Clutches and skipping ropes, etc. This equipment is generally purchased as per the decision of HEC (Hostel Executive Council). Thereby, if you know anyone from this council (HEC), you can get Gym equipment according to your choices. Besides, these are also kept then in the common hostel rooms.

If you are very much serious about Gym, then you can join the outside Gym of the college campus; however, the charges are very ostensible.

Does IIT Gandhinagar have facilities and a good infrastructure?

PP
Poulomi Paul Posted On : March 5th, 2021
IIT GN CSE

IIT Gandhinagar is the only IIT among various other semi-new IITs to have entirely shifted all its premises into its own campus.

  • IITGN is privileged with an afresh 21st-century campus, which is popularly facilitated with all the major necessities. Besides, it also is benefited with enough infrastructure that can weigh up to catering to more than its current magnitude of students as a whole.
  • The new campus of the institution has both capacious classrooms, and small classrooms alongside huge auditoriums, offices for staff members, professors, and faculty employees all anew.
  • Alongside those spacious rooms, it also has newly made 6 hostel buildings and 2 messes with various modernized equipment like wifi routers, smoke detectors, and more devices alike.
  • The institution has a gymnasium, basketball court, cricket ground, volleyball court, temporary athletics track, TT room, and a football ground as well. There are things other than these which students can explore once they visit this vast campus.

Thus, as per your question concerns, IIT Gandhinagar has both facilities and infrastructure at par with other world-class institutes and is yet under development to become better.

Which has better infrastructure and placements, IIITM Gwalior or IIIDTM Jabalpur?

SB
Shreya Basu Posted On : March 22nd, 2021
Studied at IIIT Gwalior (2019)

IIITM Gwalior is a much better choice than IIITDM Jabalpur. IIITM Gwalior will be a great choice if the rank of students is around 11k and they are into the IT branch.

  • It has a very beautiful green and pollution-free campus. The campus is environment friendly with no pollution-causing vehicles to move across the campus.
  • The infrastructure is quite good as per the total number of students enrolled.
  • The campus includes centralized AC lecture halls, an open-air theatre, and a large sports complex for the students. The institute has all provision for sports from lawn tennis to swimming.

Coming on to the placement scenarios, this year the placements have been amazing at IIITM Gwalior:

  • Two students were placed in Worksop with packages around INR 40 LPA.
  • Four students got an offer in Amazon with packages around INR 27.5 LPA.
  • The highest package offered by Directi was INR 27.5 LPA.
  • Other reputed companies that visited the campus for placement drives were Samsung, TCS, Paytm, Acxiom, American Express, IBM, etc.

The following table shows the placement statistics of the institute.

Total recruiters

65

Highest CTC offered

INR 42 LPA

Average CTC offered

INR 14.5 LPA

So, to sum up, if the student is interested in IT Branch then IIITM Gwalior will be a better choice at a rank of 11000.

Will there be a gym for boys in the IIIT Guwahati new campus?

HT
Hitashi Taneja Posted On : June 2nd, 2021
studied Electronics and Communication Engineering at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guw

No, there is no gym for boys at IIIT Guwahati's new campus. According to the management, it was expected by 2019, but the institute did not make it up within the speculated time. The new campus of IIIT Guwahati was just set up in 2018, and it was the first academic year on the campus. The points below give some more information about the fact.

  • In the previous campus, there were private gyms near the hostel for boys. Most students avail those gyms only.
  • In the new campus, there are roughly four phases of construction. This is entirely prioritized based on the needs and requirements of the institute to set up. In the first phase of the construction, only the hostels and admission blocks were finished.
  • A boy’s gym needs a lot of amenities and instruments to be a useful one. During the initial phases of construction, there is no expectation of a gym in the new campus. It may be developed during later phases.

So, getting a gym at IIIT Guwahati any sooner would be a gift from the institute. Until then, students should leave expectations for the same, and focus on other means to stay fit and healthy.

How is the infrastructure of IET Lucknow? Is it a good place to study if I take the CS branch?

DC
Debdut Roy Chowdhury Posted On : August 9th, 2021
Studies ECE at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)

I have a few friends from IET, so I think I can give some information about the institute. Here are some points to consider.

  • The infrastructure is slightly decent, yet not the best.
  • You will also acquire clean and an immaculate hostel facility, alongside incomparable mess food at a very considerable rate in the first year.
  • However, the hostels allotted to students after their first year are not at their best stage. Students generally obtain old hostel rooms, with a certain substandard infrastructure quality. The food quality yet remains the best, irrespective of the year students are in.
  • The lab facilities are not at their best.
  • The faculty is usually exceptional during the first year, but the semesters following that are commonly taken by guest faculties.
  • Most core branch students do not prepare for placements. Students commonly prepare for their SSC, GATE, ESE, and other similar exams during their stay in the institute.
  • In Computer Science, students generally get placed in service-based companies, with a decent average package. However, students who are well prepared secure offers in top firms like Adobe, Amazon, and more. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered to the students is 5 LPA.

Securing admission at IET Lucknow can be a very good choice. It is considered amongst the several top institutes of the country.

Is the infrastructure at IISER Bhopal as good as that at IISER Pune?

JT
Jagriti Tiwari, Posted On : November 9th, 2021
BS-MS from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal (2023)

IISERs get generous funding as they come directly under the MHRD of the central Government. Both IISER Bhopal and IISER Pune have state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities.

  • The labs, lecture halls, academic buildings, hostels, etc. are present at both the institutes.
  • IISER Bhopal has the largest campus among all IISERs.
  • It also has one of the finest sports facilities available in a science institute, both indoor and outdoor. These include football, tennis, basketball, badminton, chess, table tennis, etc.
  • Community centers and Visitor’ hostels are also available.
  • The whole campus is wifi enabled.
  • It is a self-sufficient campus with facilities like a shopping centre, health centre, bank, etc. all present on the campus itself.

Therefore, it is not appropriate to compare the IISERs as they all have their unique features.
