NIT Nagaland has a NIRF 2020 rank of 67, NIT Manipur has a rank of 158, UIET has a rank of 72 in the engineering category. NIT Nagaland, NIT Manipur, and NIT Mizoram are autonomous institutions recognized by AICTE and UGC whereas UIET is a public university affiliated to Panjab University.

Admission-

To be eligible for admission, students are expected to have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 75% along with their JEE Main score.

• At NIT Manipur, for programs like B.Tech, the total fees are in the range of Rs. 2 Lakhs to Rs. 7 lakhs.

• At NIT Nagaland, the total fees for programs like B.Tech lie in the range of Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 4 lakhs respectively.

• For NIT Mizoram, the total fees for programs like B.Tech are 5.43 lakhs.

• UIET offers programs like B.E(IT) with fees in the range of Rs. Lakhs and Rs. Lakhs.

JEE Main cutoff 2019 -

• NIT Nagaland - For the ECE branch, it was 17473 and 23345 as the opening and closing rank respectively for General category students from other states.

• NIT Manipur - For the Civil branch, it was 26151 and 30616 as the opening and closing rank respectively for General category students from other states.

• NIT Mizoram - For the ECE branch, it was 23041 and 26040 as the opening and closing rank respectively for General category students from other states.

• UIET - For B.E(IT) branch, it was 24265 and 35348 as the opening and closing rank respectively for the General category.

NMIMS:

• The campus has ample resources in terms of the library, practical labs, video-equipped smart classrooms, seminar halls, sports complex, and hostel facilities.
• It has WiFi-access all through the campus and offers student access to a large cafeteria and a green herb garden.

Faculty

VIT:

• More than 80% of the faculty members at VIT are Ph.D. holders, with a great record of academic and professional experience in their field of teaching.
• The teachers help students create a good portfolio of their work by developing their skills through training and workshops on core subjects.

NMIMS:

• It employs some of the best faculty from around the country who along with their skill and academic expertise help design a well-structured curriculum for better understanding.
• Their teaching methodology includes a combination of theory and practical activities in order to make students completely ready to enter the industry professionally.

Placements

Students can choose either of the institutions based on their requirements, choice of subjects, and factors mentioned above.

Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar is ranked in 100-150 band in NIRF 2020 whereas CGC Landran is ranked in 201-250 band in NIRF 2020. Guru Jambheshwar University and CGC Landran both are good engineering colleges at par with industry standards.

Admission:

• The JEE main 2019 cut-off for Guru Jambheshwar University CSE Branch was 53,885 rank for general all India students and 92,653 for home state general students.

• The cut-off for the same year at CGC Landran was 6,87,300 rank for all India general category students and 10,90,000 for home state students.

Hence, getting admission into CGC Landran is much easier as compared to GJU Hisar.

Curriculum:

CGC is affiliated to Punjab Technical University which is a bit outdated. Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar has better course-curriculum and practical facilities. This university is affiliated to University Grant Commissions (UGC).

Facilities:

CGC Landran provides good computer centre facilities. The institute has a dedicated networking centre which is beneficial for CSE students. CGC has better facilities than GJU. Non-academic facilities such as hostels, transportation etc are almost the same in both the colleges.

Location:

Location wise CGC Landran has an edge over Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar as it is located on outskirts of Chandigarh and Mohali. Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar is also urbanely situated but Chandigarh has better exposure as well as connectivity than Hisar.

Infrastructure:

Both colleges have good campuses and Infrastructure but CGC Landran has better campuses and facilities in terms of sports facilities, computer centres and libraries. Hostels and catering services are not up to that required level in both the Colleges.

Placements:

• The highest package in CGC Landran was 35 LPA whereas in Guru Jambheshwar University was 6 LPA. But the latter had a better average package of 5 LPA as compared to 3.5 LPA of CGC Landran.

• The placement percentage of CGC Landran is 100% whereas the placement percentage is 80% for Guru Jambheshwar University.

• CGC Landran is visited by companies like Microsoft, IBM, HP, Google, Dell, Samsung etc and on the other hand, Guru Jambheshwar University is visited by Canara Bank, Birla Sun Life Insurance Co, Bank of India, Bajaj Allianz Insurance Co., Axis Bank, Andhra Bank etc.

The maximum package offered is greater in CGC Landran but Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar has better average placement package. Also, the placement at CGC Landran is 100% compared to 80% in Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar as CGC students are hired by mass recruiters too which lowers the average placement package. Ranking of Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar is better than CGC Landran.

If all facts are combined then it is equally good to choose both the institutes for CS Engineering. The feature which should be given the most priority is the decision of prospective students.

Industrial production at NIT Jalandhar involves the designing and manufacturing processes for a product. The institute ranks 52nd as per NIRF 2020 ranking. The institute maintains a standard placement record of 87% every year.

Mechanical engineering from UIET Chandigarh consists of working in engineering services and manufacturing sectors. The university ranks 54th among the private engineering colleges by NIRF 2019 ranking and maintains a placement record of 80% every year. 

Admission Process

NIT Jalandhar:-

• The admission is based on the valid score of 60% marks in 10+2.
• The final selection is followed by JEE Main and JoSAA counselling.
• The total seats available are 84.
• The course fee required for admission is INR 3.52 LPA.
• The cutoff required in JEE Main is 25411-29521.

UIET Chandigarh:-

• The admission is based on the valid score of 75% marks in 10+2 with JEE Main. 
• The course fee is INR 3.25 LPA.
• The seats in UIET Chandigarh is 94.
• The cutoff required in JEE Main is in the range of 945-224246.

Placements

The placements in both these colleges are good and many of the companies offer handsome packages to the students every year. The top-notch MNCs visit the colleges and offer lucrative packages to the students. 

The top recruiters are Zomato, Deloitte, Lava, Tata Motors, Capgemini, Infosys, Amazon, KPMG, etc.

Facilities:-

• The central library of UIET Chandigarh has a collection of 1 lakh volumes of books and research papers. 
• There are six hostels in the campus, four of them are for boys and two for girls. 
• A 120 capacity air-conditioned hall in NIT Jalandhar for holding presentations and interactive sessions.
• The university library of NIT Jalandhar has an inflibnet network which allows them to connect through the digital facilities. 

As per the statistics, NIT Jalandhar has many scopes in terms of placements and is more preferred than UIET Chandigarh. Thus pursuing a course from NIT Jalandhar has a brighter future.
