How is the coding culture at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata?

RC
Rupkatha Chowdhury Posted On : September 21st, 2021
Studied at Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata

The coding culture of the Heritage Institute of Kolkata is different for different departments. All the departments have different cultures be it CSE, ECE. These departments have a good lab environment available. They have a fun coding culture without stress and deadlines. They don't force a student to learn fast and they focus on concepts rather than deadlines. But it's valid for only the above-mentioned department.

The coding culture for other departments is not so great. They will teach you more about IT world culture than coding. So, choose your branch/department wisely.

Is the CSE at Thapar University, Dera Bassi campus good?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 7th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Thapar University has recently started the CSE branch so not much cannot be said about it. Although its cutoffs are higher than COE, I don’t think a new branch can take over a well-established branch like COE this easily.

The Dera Bassi campus is located in a village and the proximity to the industry makes the living conditions pathetic for students. Moreover, the faculty is said to be average qualified and there aren't any practical lab sessions.

So, I will recommend you go for any lower branch at the main Thapar Campus than going for CSE in the Dera Bassi campus.

Do we need to prepare CAT for the IPM course of IIM Indore?

BT
Barkha Taneja Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Studied MBA Marketing & Sales, Indian Institute of Management Indore (2010)

For the IPM course of IIM Indore, there is a particular IPM paper that takes place for admission. The format of the paper has changed over the past 3 years. CAT and the IPM exam conducted by the IIM Indore are both different. The format of the IPM paper is as follows:

  • 40 Questions - MCQ Type - 40 minutes (Quantitative Ability)
  • 20 Questions - Short Answer Type - 40 minutes (Quantitative Ability)
  • 40 Questions - MCQ - 40 minutes (Verbal Ability)

Although both CAT and IPM exams are different, the format of both of them is the same. Some short answer-type questions are not MCQ type and are slightly different. Although the maths section is higher than the other section in the exam due to the short answer-type questions, the difficulty level would not be much. The cut-off for Quantitative Ability of the IPM exam is nearly 25-30%, therefore you need to go through a lot of Advanced Mathematics and should practice the CAT level mathematics well. According to the marking scheme, Each correct answer is +4 in the exam, and for the wrong answer, there is -1. This negative marking scheme is not applicable for the short answer questions.

What is the dress code for students in Karunya University, particularly for girls?

AB
Ashmita Banerjee Posted On : October 16th, 2023
CSE at Karunya University (2019)

The Management of Karunya University changes the dress code for girls frequently. It depends on their mood. Some days kurti and leggings are allowed while some days they are scolded for wearing tight leggings. They won’t even let you sit for class with such clothes.

Girls are expected to wear a Salwar Kameez or Churidar with a dupatta pinned at the shoulders. They also have to wear the university blazer on special occasions. They also have to wear a lab uniform in the laboratory classes and wear their ID cards all the time.

Hope this helps you!

Is it worth preparing for IIFT as a fresher?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : June 7th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

It is definitely ‘worth’ preparing for the IIFT. But for a confused mind, it is better to first gain work experience which will strengthen your resolve.

But maybe you specifically want to emphasize the ‘fresher’ part of your query. Then I would say that if you want to pursue an MBA, definitely prepare for IIFT. It is a very subjective choice. People who find fulfillment in their jobs need not go for an MBA, but if one feels that MBA is the right option for us, be it a fresher or an experienced person, preparing for IIFT is worth it.

Yes, indeed any student from CBSE board can give the GUJCET exam. The syllabus followed by Gujarat is NCERT based which is also the syllabus of Central Board, Delhi. The course content is the same as that of the Central Board, Delhi. Students from CBSE board mostly opt for JEE (Mains) and JEE (Advance) but before appearing in these exams, they can also appear for the GUJCET exam.

The GUJCET exams performance along with board exam score, students can apply online for admission in Government College based on the merit link or the rank achieved by them.

Students can refer to the CBSE textbooks for the GUJCET exam. Students should solve the textbook exercise along with illustrations of CBSE textbooks to achieve a good rank in the GUJCET exam.

MAKAUT offers excellent learning resources to students. You can utilize the weekends to upskill yourself. If you are a software engineering student, you can learn various coding languages such as C, C++, Java, etc. Having knowledge of different coding languages can help you a lot during placements. If you are a student of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, you can learn Auto CAD. How is electrical engineering in MANIT Bhopal?

SB
Shivani Bansal Posted On : November 11th, 2023
Studied at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal

As an alumnus of MANIT Bhopal, I will try to shed some light on the Electrical department of my college-

  • Faculty- The regular faculty (professors) is quite good and supportive. The professors are amiable in nature, and always there for the students. But some of them are short-tempered.
  • Placement Scenario- The placements completely depend on company requirements, so they can’t be deemed good or bad. Around 60 companies visit the department every placement season. The placement percentage drops and rises according to the vacancies in the firms for that particular year. Also, as the Electronics branch has strengthened its hold, Electrical placements have received a setback.
  • Facilities- The lab facilities are poor, but the management is good. It is the only department with fixed rules and regulations.

Overall, Electrical Engineering is a decent option, and you’ll enjoy your stay at MANIT Bhopal.

How do students enjoy in their free time at IIIT Allahabad?

Sapna Malik updated Posted On : October 13th, 2023

My brother was a student at IIIT Allahabad so I have enough information on how the students spend their free time and their daily timetables. In IIIT Allahabad, classes are conducted form and the weekends are holidays. Most students spend their weekends playing badminton in the hostel, cricket, football, snooker, table tennis in SAC, or swimming. A few game lovers spend their time playing PUBG, mini militia, and counter-strike games in their rooms.

A few coding lovers spend their weekends doing coding. There is a free bus facility at 6 pm so some students go to the market to shop or hang out with their friends in restaurants. Some students play music and dance with friends in hostel rooms, while some watch movies. Many roam around the campus and enjoy the fresh air.
