How is Chemical Engineering at MANIT Bhopal?

PS
Parveen Sindhu Posted On : April 22nd, 2023
Studied at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal

If you are considering the Chemical Engineering Department at MANIT Bhopal, here are some pros and cons based on the experience of a current student:

Pros:

  • The department has relatively small class sizes of around 60 students. This allows for more one-on-one interaction with professors, similar to what you may have experienced in school.
  • The HOD (Head of Department) and senior faculty members are helpful and care about the interests of students.
  • Despite being a newer department (started around 10 years ago), the Chemical Engineering Department has maintained decent placement records.
  • Compared to other departments, there are fewer classes, giving you more time for yourself to prepare for future prospects such as GATE, CAT, GRE, etc.
  • The department has better infrastructure than many other departments at MANIT, and the labs have continuously improved over the past few years.

Cons:

  • There are no professors in the Chemical Engineering Department, only Assistant Professors. This can lower the standard of education, which may not be what one would expect from an NIT.
  • Most of the courses are taught by Contract Faculties who can be rude, non-qualified, and excessively egoistic.
  • The department has a skewed relative grading system where no one gets a perfect 10 in any subject, even if they score as high as 97/98. This diminishes the point of having a relative grading system.
  • There is no library in the department, and even the college library is in a state of extreme disarray.

Overall, if you are considering the Chemical Engineering Department at MANIT, it is important to weigh the pros and cons mentioned above. While the department has small class sizes, helpful senior faculty members, and decent placements, it also has a lack of professors, rude contract faculties, a skewed grading system, and a lack of library resources.

How is life in IIM Ahmedabad?

AS
Aniket Sinha Posted On : March 10th, 2022
PGP from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (2018)

Life at IIM Ahmedabad depends on your course, which year or term you are in, and your personal goals.

Until Summer placement:

  • The schedule is pretty hectic until the summer placements (Nov). Apart from the course work, you will need to work on your CV, attend presentations conducted by recruiting companies, prepare for interviews, and complete work for the clubs you joined.
  • It will take some time to get used to the rigorous academic routine. Lectures go on from 8:45 am to 1:10 pm. Being late to lectures isn’t an option. The notification for the 2:45 pm surprise quiz comes around 1:45 pm. Also, the deadline for most assignments is 11:59:59 pm.

After Summer Placements:

During this time, you will be considerably relaxed. You can concentrate on your academics and other activities since you will be placed.

2nd Year:

  • 2nd year is different for most students. You will choose your course. So, the academic rigor will depend on the courses you are opting for.
  • Some students opt for exchange/dual degree programs. Some pickup positions of responsibility within the campus.
  • The final placements start from January and go on until February. Most start placement preparation from October/November.

Irrespective of the choices you make, life on IIM A campus will be enriching.

How is life at IIT, Jodhpur?

SR
Sayantan Ray Posted On : August 2nd, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ) (Graduated 2021)

The permanent campus of IIT Jodhpur is spread across 872 acres. Life over here is pretty good. The senior-junior interaction is good and the peers are more like family members. Jodhpur does not offer much in terms of entertainment, however, we enjoy our campus life and try to make the most of it.

There are two main fests, Varchas- the sports fest, and Ignus-the techno-cult-socio fest. Both these fests are conducted at a much greater level than other new IITs. Other than these two, there is the intra college fest- Spandan, the unplugged night, and Intra college technical fest-Nimble. Other than these, a lot more fun activities keep happening on campus.

IIT Jodhpur is a small IIT, therefore, students from across streams get to actively participate in the clubs and fests. You will easily get PoRs here. The five societies at IIT Jodhpur include Arts and Design, Cultural, Sports, Technical, and Academic Research and Development.

The girls' hostel has a curfew set at 12 AM - 5 AM. Girls and boys are not allowed in each other’s hostel common area as of now. Both genders get equal opportunities in every respect and the faculty at IIT Jodhpur is learned and supportive.

Overall, life is quite great at IIT J and I am quite happy to be a part of it.

Where can I find free-solved assignments for IGNOU?

KT
Karan Takkar Posted On : October 17th, 2022
M.A ECO from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

You can simply Google "free solved assignments" to find them. However, there is a catch. If you are enrolled in the January session, you may be able to find most assignments for free online. The assignments for the July session and the January session of the following year are the same at IGNOU. So your chances of finding them for free are good. However, if you are enrolled in the July session, you may not be able to find solved assignments online/offline for free.

However, you will find 99% of the assignment solutions in your IGNOU study material and exactly how you should do it. It will give you a good understanding of the subject. Ignore questions from previous years' papers and current assignments in TEE. You should complete your assignments on your own because it will undoubtedly help you in your TEE.

Why would you prefer DTU over IIT?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : July 3rd, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

If you have an average rank but want to get a decent branch then DTU is the best option especially if you are looking forward to the excellent exposure offered in Delhi. A plethora of opportunities are available here and you can intern all through the year.

Varanasi, Kharagpur, or Roorkee have very few startups and you won’t be gaining the kind of exposure you will be getting here. Additionally, you can avail the benefits of a metro city like better placement opportunities.

Another major reason why you should choose DTDU over IIT is the diversity of the alumni of DTU. You can find DTU alumni literally everywhere from government, PSUs, and startups to high posts in big private companies. Some go for IAS, and IES or are pursuing MBA or MS abroad. The alumni pool is therefore versatile so you can get inspired to pursue a variety of careers rather than restricting yourself to Engineering only.

However, it’s important to note that the brand value of IITs, their global recognition, flexible curriculum, and excellent faculty pool can never be compared to DTU.

What is the exact counselling procedure for the B.Tech admissions in BITS Pilani?

AG
Anchal Ghose Posted On : July 19th, 2021
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2020)

The whole counseling process completes with a total of 5 rounds of seat allocation for its various courses at various campuses. The whole process is given below, in brief.

  • First you have to fill out the campus preference form online.
  • After the first round of seat allocation, the selected candidates have to pay a part of the fee for seat locking without which you would not be considered for further rounds.
  • Then the second and the third round of seat allocation takes place after roughly every 10 days.
  • After the third round is over, you need to report to your allotted campus within 7-8 days. You would have to get your hostel allocation and all other hostel amenities as well after you visit the campus.
  • In the final admission, document verification takes place and you will need to pay the full 1st-semester fee minus the seat locking fee paid earlier. On this day also you need to “freeze” your campus. If you freeze your campus, then you are eligible to get the higher preference branch only in your campus where you have taken the admission. If you do not freeze your campus you are still eligible for the other campus programs as well.

Finally, the 4th and the 5th rounds of seat allocation happens usually in the first two weeks of August and the process is completed.

How good is Delhi Technological University?

Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : July 3rd, 2023

Good is a very generic term. Good in terms of what and which branch? Well, the answer to every criterion and branch is different. However, I have tried my best to cover the major parameters to determine the worth of DTU

  • Brand Name: DTU has an average brand value and is only popular in Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and parts of UP. It is well known among engineering aspirants, and recruiters but is not as recognized as NITs and IITs.
  • Infrastructure: DTU has a great infrastructure with a lush green campus and top-notch campus facilities. The library is well-stocked, the classrooms are decked with modern facilities and DTU also has great sports facilities.
  • Hostels: The accommodation facilities are somewhat miserable here and some of the hostel buildings are in pathetic condition with damping seepages, falling plasters, and broken windows. The mess food is average and canteens also have a limited variety.
  • Quality of Education: Academics is where DTU fails miserably. DTU has obsolete pedagogy and curriculum that is irrelevant to the recent trends in the industry. Most of the teachers have little interest in teaching and examinations are a joke here. Some exceptionally good teachers help you in writing research papers and securing internships.
  • Crowd: The 2 major aspects that make DTU worth it is its good location and the quality of the crowd it attracts. You will find people with diverse ranks owing to the Delhi quota and the reservations. The huge diversity in the ranks brings a lot of personalities together.
  • College Life: Life at DTU is very vibrant and dynamic with many ongoing activities and events conducted by societies, student teams, and extracurricular clubs which help the students pursue their passions.
  • Placements: The placement scenario of DTU is great especially that of computer-related branches or circuit branches. However, branches like environmental engineering or biotech don’t have very good opportunities.
  • Higher education: Every year DTU students get admitted to top graduate and MBA programs in reputed universities like Ivy League, MIT, UT Austin, University of Michigan, IIMs, XLRI, FMS, ISB.

How good DTU is, depends on what you are expecting from it!
