How is IIIT Hyderabad? Is it good? Is it worth joining? Is it comparable to NIT Warangal?
IIIT Hyderabad is one of the highly reputed engineering colleges almost at or with NITs and IITs. It is a unique IIIT as the first I in IIIT Hyderabad stands for International and not national. There is intense competition here to grab CSE seats as the program is highly regarded among prospective CS engineers.
- IIIT Hyderabad has a research-oriented academic environment and offers ample opportunities and facilities for the same. The course curriculum is highly rigorous as you are taught programming right from the first year.
- The faculty pool comprises highly educated professors who are Ph.D. holders from top universities.
- IIIT Hyderabad offers extensive industrial exposure in the form of projects for which you have to go outside.
- All the major IT giants visit IIIT Hyderabad for placements. Microsoft, Apple, and Facebook are some of them.
If you want an excellent career in CS, IIIT Hyderabad may be the right place for you!
What should I choose between IIT rank 1300-1500 (predicted rank) , IIIT Hyderabad CSE and BITS Pilani (Score - 369)?
Your rank is pretty good and you are likely to get both, IIIT Hyderabad CSE and BITS Pilani. However, had I been in your place, I would have chosen IIIT Hyderabad. There are a number of reasons that support my choice.
- IIIT Hyderabad is a CS-oriented institute so follows a well-structured and CS-tailored curriculum. The curriculum is flexible and concepts are delivered in a dynamic way through classes, tutorials, labs, and assignments.
- IIIT Hyderabad conducts rigorous classroom sessions that ensure maximum student involvement. The concepts are not just delivered but taught thoroughly. Students have explained the logic behind everything.
- The lab sessions are usually taught by TAs who guide you and explain the practical concepts thoroughly. They help you overcome the major and minor problems in coding.
- Students are given very challenging problems in tutorials that help them improve drastically.
- The assignments are set excellently by the professors who want to keep the students one step ahead of the classes and prepare them for the exams. The assignments are discussed during tutorials to ensure everyone completes them without any problem.
In all, IIIT Hyderabad gives you a sense of freedom to explore yourself and your surroundings better.
What's the reason behind NIT Rourkela's exponential rise?
There are several reasons for the exponential rise of NIT Rourkela. Some of these are mentioned below-
- Infrastructure- NIT Rourkela has a great infrastructure. It recently inaugurated its Golden Jubilee Building in 2020 which contains multiple meeting rooms, exhibition rooms, parking facility, a cafeteria, a world-class conference hall, a technology-enabled library and reading space, administrative offices, senate hall, Department of Physics & Astronomy, skill development and training laboratories and a telescope on top. There is also a world-class sports complex which contains an olympic size swimming pool and huge courts for basketball, tennis, football, hockey and many other sports.
- Faculty- The faculty of NIT Rourkela is top-notch and many of its professors are listed among the top 2-3% scientists across multiple streams, in various international rankings.
- Alumni- NIT Rourkela has a great alumni network. Some of its notable alumni are- Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Soma Mondal, C. Lalremsiama, Pranav Khaitan and Rahul Shrivastava.
- Placements- NIT Rourkela students get offers from top MNCs like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, ExxonMobil, Capgemini, etc. Many others go for higher education in top Indian and foreign universities including Ivy Leagues. Many NIT Rourkela students receive offers from PSUs and other highly renowned government organizations like DRDO, ISRO, IOCL, BHEL, Tata, Aditya Birla, Jio, Qualcomm, etc.
- Other professions - NIT Rourkela students excel in other fields as video editors, dancers, etc. Students also get selected in the Indian Military.

Is NIT Patna underrated? Why it is not so recommended?
There are many factors that have affected the reputation of NIT Patna for the worse
Earlier, NIT Patna had a very poor placement scenario and IT giants like Google and Amazon did not visit the campus. This affected the reputation severely. However, the situation has now improved and last year Amazon offered a package of INR 1.8 CPA, Meta offered a package of 1.6 LPA and Google offered a package of INR 1.1 CPA.
- Another major factor that has affected the reputation of the institute is it’s location. Bihar is considered to be underdeveloped
- The campus of NIT Patna is very small around 35-40 acres and the infrastructural facilities are also limited.
- The professors are usually young and not very experienced. But the bright side is they are more passionate and open to new ideologies.
These were some of the reasons NIT Patna is underrated. It’s a very promising college that fails to attract the right lot. In fact, the professors in the ECE branch are among the 2% of world scientists.
What is that only IIT Kharagpur has but no other IIT does?
Some features that strikingly distinguish IIT KGP from other IITs are
- The massive lush green campus of around 2100 Acres
- A museum that was initially a Detention Center of the British era. A number of Indian freedom fighters were detained here.
- A very vibrant and fun-filled campus life because the world outside IIT KGP is boring.
- An LLB course is delivered in a very intellectual environment
- Chedis, the night canteen is a savior for many who crave tea and snacks at 3 am. It runs even when everything on the campus is closed.
- Illu, the traditional Diwali celebrations that are unique and one of a kind at IIT KGP
All these features set IIT KGP apart from other IITs.
How much time does it takes to reach NIT Kurukshetra from Delhi in Haryana roadways buses?
If your journey is from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, you can take a direct bus to Kurukshetra, but the journey time becomes quite long by bus.
Otherwise, you can take a bus that goes by the route of Punjab or Jammu, which will decrease your journey time to 3 hours. You will arrive at Pipli, then take an auto and within 20 minutes, you will reach Kurukshetra
You can choose any of these routes based on your convenience
Which is better for an MBA between Doon Business School and LPU?
I pursued my MBA from LPU, while my younger sister is doing her MBA from Doon Business School.
Out of my personal experience, here are a few disadvantages of doing an MBA from LPU-
- Faculty- At LPU, the MBA faculty significantly lacks experienced faculty members. Most of the teachers are freshers. And while being taught by a fresher teacher is alright, the lecturers are under extreme pressure. They find it difficult to cope up with such high pressure in their early stage of teaching.
- Fees- The MBA fees are quite high. For those who live far away, it is better to look for other options.
- Placement Packages- MBA graduates from LPU do not receive satisfactory packages. The offered packages are between 2-5 LPA.
Doon Business School offers a better ROI, and in fact, the climate of the place is comparatively pleasant in summers. For an MBA, DBS has a better brand reputation, experienced faculty and better curriculum. DBS does not offer just an MBA degree, it offers numerous other industry oriented courses too.
Thus, I would suggest you choose Doon Business School for an MBA.
Is Career Launcher good for the IPM, IIM Indore entrance examination?
No, the Career Launcher is not a good option to prepare for IIM and it will be a total waste of time and money. Some of the people I know took this option and here’s what they had to say about it.
- The faculty of this course are very slow and they are not serious at their jobs.
- The weekend batch is not serious enough. The teachers are neither encouraging nor enthusiastic about the studies.
- The teachers were unable to complete the entire syllabus, as they often delayed the teaching process.
- This created a lot of problems for the students as without completing the syllabus they couldn't perform well in their exams.
- Although the teachers had increased their working hours after the students talked to them regarding their problem, it still couldn't make any difference.
- Also, the teaching style of the faculty members is very poor.
- The test series of this course is good, but it is of no use if you are unable to complete the syllabus.
It will be better to join some other offline coaching classes or go through some online courses and references for your preparation, as it will be more time and cost-efficient. Paying 42,000 for this career launcher program is a total waste as you will get nothing in return.
Hence, it will be better to not join the career launcher as it is completely not worth your time and money. Instead, join other coaching classes or self-study with the help of the internet.
Can I get IIM Bangalore with 77.4 in 12th and 56.6 in graduation?
If you are a General Engineer Male, even with a perfect CAT score, getting into IIM Bangalore is nearly impossible. Your 12th-grade point average is low. Your UG grades are even worse. If you are not an engineer, you may have a chance with a high CAT percentile, but there is no guarantee.
IIMB looks for consistent and high academic performance throughout the 10th, 12th, and UG years.
Over the years, IIMB has discovered that students who perform well in the academic program typically have a consistently good academic record throughout their school, high school, and graduation levels, in addition to demonstrating sufficiently high aptitude as measured by the CAT (Common Admission Test of the IIMs)/GMAT. As a result, IIMB evaluates candidates' suitability for the PGP program using a variety of criteria, including academic performance in school, high school, and graduation programs, as well as CAT/GMAT scores.
Can I change branch preference after first counselling at Thapar University?
You need to wait for the spot round (in-person counseling) at Thapar University for that. You can’t change your branch preference in the first 4 rounds (which are all online rounds). But during the spot round, you’ll get a fresh paper to fill in your desired branches in the order of your preference. This is when you can reconsider your choices. If during the online counseling rounds you feel satisfied with the branch you are getting, you can freeze your seat. This won’t hamper your chances in the spot round, but it will provide you with a backup in case your desired branch(es) runs out of vacant seats by then.
