GM
Gaurav Mishra Posted On : April 11th, 2022
studied at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad

For Computer Science, IIIT Hyderabad is better. It offers better education and exposure in the field. The CSE department of IIIT Hyderabad has a great faculty base. There’s an active coding culture on campus.

The placement record for the department is great. IIIT Hyderabad CSE average package is INR 18.53 LPA. Due to the institute’s proximity to software industries, it’s easier to get good internships, and projects. The research interface of IIIT Hyderabad in CSE and allied areas is unparalleled.

KS
Kokila Singh Posted On : August 29th, 2023
Lived in Patna, Bihar, India (2017–2018)

Best is a relative term. Best in what aspect, academics or job opportunities? Here is a one-to-one analysis of each branch

Computer Science Department

  • This department is the best department in terms of placements and has the highest placement rate too.
  • The department also has an authorized international club IEEE

Mechanical Engineering

  • Placements-wise the department is average with companies like Tata, Maruti, and Havells visiting for placements.
  • A few PSUs like BPCL also provide decent job opportunities to its students.
  • The workload is less and you get a lot of free time. One can get good grades around 8-9 CGPA by just studying sincerely a few weeks prior to the exams.

ECE Department

  • This branch has many strict faculty who are very serious about attendance and academics.
  • The lab sessions aren’t very engaging although new labs are on the way.
  • Placements depend on your skills.

Electrical Engineering

  • The branch has surprisingly good offers from PSUs like BPCL.
  • The infrastructure of this branch is very old and so is the equipment.

Civil Engineering

  • NIT Patna was known for civil engineering In Fact the the main building of NIT is the civil department.
  • This department has great infrastructure and a faculty pool.
  • The placement scenario however is pathetic and most students have to resort to GATE preparation.

Information Technology

  • It isn't a separate department but just a few rooms and a hall.
  • They are usually considered to be a part of the CSE department.

Architecture

  • This department has an amazing infrastructure but the placement scenario is pathetic.

What are the best books for the preparation of CEED, NID?

AS
Akshita Singh Posted On : February 2nd, 2021
Studied Strategic Design Management at National Institute of Design (2019)

There is plenty of preparation material available out there for both CEED and NID DAT but the best way to prepare for the entrance exams is to study the syllabus of the exams and prepare accordingly.

You should keep yourself updated with current affairs and observe everything around you. Regular practice of sketching can be a bonus thing. The syllabus for CEED and NID- DAT is updated regularly with the intent to judge the design aptitude and knowledge of the candidates appearing every year.

Another important aspect of preparation is to study the previous year’s question papers in order to understand the type of questions that appear in the exam. Also, work on your weak points. Try to work on topics which are tough and solve questions from them. CEED and NID DAT are important entrance exams for design and can be used if you cover the syllabus, study last year papers and work on your weak areas thoroughly.

What should I pack for IIT Bombay?

PG
Pratik Gandhi Posted On : March 21st, 2023
B.Tech. CSE, IIT Bombay

Most students while packing for their higher studies can think of common things like clothes, bags, footwear, watches etc. In reality, all you need is a few pairs of trousers and t- shirts and a sturdy floater.

Rather than materialistic things, you need to pack and prepare other things that will help you at IIT Bombay

  • Determination: Joining IIT Bombay Is a dream for many and since you have achieved it you should be determined to give your best and excel in every aspect. Nurture your abilities to the fullest and pave the way to success.
  • A pocket diary: It may sound backward but carrying a diary around is very useful. Note down what you learn new every day or the pending tasks.
  • A Family photo: This will keep you attached to your loved ones even if you are miles apart and will also serve as a reminder to talk to them daily.
  • Cycle: Yes, even inside the campus you will need a cycle to travel faster and save money.
  • Some homemade healthy food: This will keep you full and cater to untimely cravings.

Apart from these things you should also take some habits with you that will help you release stress from academics. These may be anything that makes you happy like dancing, reading, writing, coding, designing, drawing, sports, music, etc.

What are the placement prospects for a NMP program from MDI Gurgaon?

AA
Ashutosh Agarwal Posted On : February 22nd, 2023
MBA from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon

The NMP program of MDI is a well-known program that was initiated in the year 1988. The program is best suitable for Young Managers. Coming to the placement part, most of the students choosing this program are sponsored by the company they were working at and hence have to join back their company once their program is completed.

The general placements are also decent with around 70% placement percentage. But placements depend mostly on the knowledge gained and implemented in your job. Your performance throughout the program determines your placement.

Which is better, chemical at IIT Kharagpur or CS at IIT Mandi?

A
Admin Posted On : June 18th, 2024

Choosing Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur is a better option as compared to CS at IIT Mandi. IIT KGP is a much older institution with a rich legacy and a stronger alumni network. Other than that, Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur has an active research culture.

On the other hand, IIT Mandi may not be the best option because of its recent establishment. Although the IIT Mandi placements seem promising, they are nowhere near IIT KGP placements.

Here is a general comparison of the 2 institutes based on several factors-

Particulars IIT Mandi IIT KGP
B.Tech Fees 2.85 Lakhs (1st Year Fees) 2.24 Lakhs (1st Year Fees)
NIRF Ranking 2023 (Engineering) 73 6
Highest CTC (2023) INR 60 LPA INR 2.68 CPA
Average CTC (2023) INR 21.50 LPA INR 50 LPA
Top Recruiters Flipkart, 1mg, Microsoft, Uber, Amazon Microsoft, Google, EXL Services

Based on these factors, I would suggest you choose Chemical Engineering at IIT KGP over CS at IIT Mandi.

Which is a better choice, BITS Pilani or MNNIT Allahabad for Mechanical Engineering?

A
Admin Posted On : May 14th, 2024

As a recent mechanical pass out from BITS Pilani, I can assure you that BITS Pilani will be a better choice for mechanical engineering. Being a reputed college, it has strong industry connections and students are placed in top firms like TATA, ISRO, Mercedes, Honda and more for internship and research opportunities.

BITS Pilani also holds a high standard in various brands with a strong alumni network across the world. It also has better infrastructure than MNNIT Allahabad, flexibility and more. The start-up aid is one of the best in the country.

Placement opportunities at BITS Pilani are also better with students grabbing packages up to INR 60.75 LPA. The top recruiters include Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Cisco and more.

Why is there an NRI quota in BIT Mesra?

MB
Moinak Biswas Posted On : August 17th, 2023
BIT Mesra

The most important point to note is that NRI admissions at BIT Mesra are not done under the DASA scheme. As to why there is an NRI quota at BIT Mesra, many NRIs prefer to follow the Indian curriculum for their children’s schooling. As a result, these children sometimes choose to continue with their higher studies in an Indian college/ university. Thus, many institutions reserve a certain number of seats for NRIs.

Getting NRI students to study in India is a way of improving the economic state of the country as NRI students pay a lot higher fees for the same degree. It is a win-win situation for both because the cost of higher studies is way more in other countries as compared to India. Also, getting NRI students to study in Indian universities improves the chances of them working in India and contributing to the growth of the nation.

This is the reason why there is an NRI quota in BIT Mesra and many other colleges/universities in India.
