What is better, ECE from IIIT Allahabad or electrical or mechanical from top NITs excluding NIT Trichy?

AB

B. Tech. Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute Of Information Technology Bhopal (2021)

Well, your question is quite different as it is asking to compare all the three different specializations in Engineering.

When you come across such a situation where you have to decide between the branches, at first you must have some introductory knowledge about those branches and the job opportunities in the particular domain.

  • Mechanical and Electrical Engineering are the core branches of engineering and have a greater demand in the public sector jobs than in ECE.
  • Whereas on the other hand, there is certainly more hard work required to get these jobs.
  • If you are looking for a decent IT or hardware-based job you can take up the ECE course offered at IIIT Allahabad.
  • The coding culture available there is really good and you would surely enjoy it.
  • But if you are not the person who is interested in programming or you find it difficult to make algorithms you can join Mechanical or Electrical.

Here I am briefly differentiation IIIT Allahabad and other NITs :

How’s the placement of ECE in DCRUST Murthal?

TR
Tuhina Roy Posted On : November 8th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology DCRUST (2018)

I have a few friends who graduated from DCRUST Murthal. According to them, ECE has had a good placement record over the past few years. However, not many core companies visit the campus for the placement drive. Most students get recruited by TCS or other mass recruiters. The average CTC offered at the institute is 3-4 LPA.

According to the trends of placement at DCRUST, around 80% of students get placed each year. Students of ECE also have the advantage of being open to CSE, ECE, and Electrical Engineering companies for placements.

Which will be a better career for ECE engineers, IBPS SO or PSU via the GATE?

RP
Riddhi Pal Posted On : February 19th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (IIT BHU) (2018)

Some of my friends work in both the departments and based on their experience, I can answer this.

If you look at the position of an IBPS SO, it's that of a specialist officer. You'd technically be a network administrator of all of the intra networks of the bank. You'd be a database administrator/database manager who would have the entire intra network of that particular bank under your supervision.

Now if you look at the PSU job, you'd be someone who would be responsible for sustaining the technicalities concerning PSU.

Your enquiry on which one is better entirely is up to you and where your interest lies. While some might opt for GATE which concerns their core subjects entirely, others simply might find their area of interest in networking. So, decide for yourself and choose what suits you and not the rest.

Which should I prefer, civil engineering at IIT Hyderabad or ECE at ISM Dhanbad?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : May 19th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

Irrespective of the IIT tag you go for, Civil Engineering always has limited placements. Civil Engineering has become an outdated branch with little or no scope left. Although there are people who go for various options after pursuing civil engineering, which may include UPSC Examinations. What I mean is that Civil Engineering is not the right choice if your goal is placements. In that case consider ECE from ISM Dhanbad. Owing to the increased research in Machine Learning, the ECE branch is expected to grow ten folds in the coming future.

Additionally, ECE in IIT (ISM) has a pretty good coding and robotics culture, so you have both options, going for core jobs or CS jobs.

Ultimately, it’s all about personal inclinations. All I suggest is that never go for a mediocre rank just because a certain IIT is better than the other. The choice of your branch is equally important as the choice of your institute. Moreover, the Civil engineering scenario is similar in every IITs.

I am from AP. I got EE in IIT Mandi and ECE in BITS Hyderabad. I am affordable to pay money. Which is best?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : June 30th, 2023

It is completely based on your core interests. Both institutes are well renowned. The EE program at IIT Mandi will help you improve your potential using the resourceful classes offered here.

IIT Mandi guarantees the best placement support. Usually, the students prefer CSC rather than EE, but when we look into the curriculum of EE, it has a significant part in electronic studies.

Other than this, the most significant feature of IIT Mandi is its branch change policy. Most of the students prefer a branch change after the first year. You can also be a part of it if you have an interest in coding and software. So, you can opt for IIT Mandi based on your interest in the core subject.

AM
Anuj Maheta Posted On : January 12th, 2021
B.E Information Technology, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (2021)

If you are genuinely interested in ECE then you should opt for MAIT. Although from the viewpoint of future prospects, NIT ICE is far better than MAIT ECE.

Deciding Factors:

  • ECE is a core engineering discipline and you need to have good skills to secure decent placement opportunities.
  • The reputation of the college and brand name matters for placement.
  • There are certain advantages to pursuing a course at NSIT. The brand name has its perks.
  • One other advantage of NSIT is that you can choose to study any subjects from any discipline later on in your course as an elective.
  • Also, for immediate placement after graduation, NSIT is the ideal option.

The table below will give you a brief overview of the two options.

Particulars

MAIT ECE

NSIT ICE

Average CTC

  • A valid score in JEE Advanced is required.
  • The fees for the 1st year inAerospace engineering course is Rs. 96,800.
  • The total intake of the program is 60 seats.

MNNIT Allahabad:

  • Candidate must have completed 10+2 in Science stream with a minimum 75% marks.
  • Candidate must have passed the entrance exam, i.e., JEE Main.
  • For ECE 1st year, the feeis Rs 84,666.

    • The highest salary offered to the students is INR 25.33 LPA and the average salary offered to the students is INR 10.95 LPA.

Choosing the subject depends on the individual itself. IISR will be really good if the candidate is very much interested in space and technology, as the institute primarily focuses only on space studies. Being a part of the 1st institute in the world to offer complete range of programs in space and technology will be plus point. Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was the former Chancellor of the University. The city life of Kerala is much better than Allahabad. Now, based on all the data and their interest the candidate can choose the subject and institute accordingly.
