Dr. Sadhana Vadhawani Bajaj is presently serving as Coordinator - Academics and Exam Controller at College Of Management Studies, Kanpur. With a Ph.D. from Pacific University, Udaipur, she has worked for 3 years as a Human Resource Associate before joining the education sector. Also, she has been instrumental in designing programs and curriculum for various institutes and universities, overall contributing to student development and welfare.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Vital contribution to a student’s growth”

The foremost reason to be connected to the education sector is to work for the overall development of the students. The Education department is a very noble department. The respect which a student has for a teacher is what has made me connected with education for such a long time, and the nobility in the profession attracted me towards it. I draw satisfaction from my job when I see my students getting employed and generating employment for others as well.


How does the curriculum of your college ensure best practices in the industry?

“Integration and alliance with industrial training”

We offer 4 specializations in MBA which include HR, finance, marketing and business management. Our curriculum is based according to the standards of AKTU and the curriculum has been designed according to the industry standards. We ensure the best practice in the industry through an institute-industry partnership under which we organize various events such as expert lectures and training programs in a number of industries throughout the year. These assist the students to be aware and have a good hands-on experience on the latest practices in the industry. The most important trait for an MBA graduate is his/her presentation and analytical skills so we stress the development and enhancement of these traits in our students as well. 


What do you think your roles and responsibilities are as the Coordinator?

“Strategizing curriculum and its implementation for student benefit”

As the Coordinator here, my job is to ensure the balance between the faculty and the students. I look after the entire study program which entails how classes are to be conducted and ensuring that the teachers are providing the best guidance to students as per the curriculum. Also, providing case studies and assignments to faculty and students to develop and enhance their knowledge according to the specializations, and making the students ready for the competitive industry once they graduate from our college are my key roles.

Our college has a dedicated placement cell that ensures excellent placement records every year. Various MNCs hire students from our college and offer good packages to the students. Our recruiters include Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, Alinco, RSPL, Mirza International, etc. We have a number of students working all across the world in top companies. We also have an industry partnership with Kanpur Logistic Park for enhancing the knowledge of students in the export-import business. We help interested students go abroad to work or study. 


How do you maintain healthy relations among the faculty members and students?

We have a very good bond among the teachers and students. This is teamwork and each and every individual’s efforts and cooperation are needed for the success of the task. The teaching fraternity is working very hard to provide the best-in-class knowledge to the students. The teachers and the students are working together as one big, happy family. We keep on organizing fun activities where both students and teachers participate as one and with the help of such activities, we maintain a healthy environment for the teachers and students to flourish their careers.

We have an extremely hardworking and knowledgeable pool of faculty members who are dedicated to the overall development of the students. With the help of case studies, time-based assignments and presentation sessions, we groom our students into skilled professionals who are ready to face any challenge in the industry. There is a BAT (Business Training) activity which is conducted every Saturday under the guidance of teachers to enhance these skills in our students. We have well-equipped libraries and computer labs for the students to learn and polish their knowledge in the respective subjects.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

“Develop multiple skills from genuine sources”

I would like to tell the students that during these times whatever information is being circulated in various online handles be it Instagram, YouTube, or other platforms, DO NOT blindly believe in those, check for the authenticity of the content. The knowledge which one gains by reading books is the best knowledge which one can gain. Let us strive together to meet the demands of the current industry as today one cannot survive with just one skill. A person needs to have a number of skills to excel in their career and in life, so work hard and diligently, and trust your teachers and mentors while choosing a path for you and you will surely achieve great heights in life. I would like to quote, “Shiksha is the milk of a lioness, who drinks this milk will roar like a lion.”
