What is your philosophy of leadership?
“It is essential to be honest with oneself, building trust and internal credibility”
Education sector leaders are lifelong learners and lead by example. They must steer clear of functional fixedness and evolve as true leaders. I would like to describe myself as a selfless transformational leader. The effort is to build high-performance teams with synergy. I believe that as a leader I not only set goals but also help create the environment and the mechanism for the goals to be realized. One of my major successes as a leader has been in transforming an organization's way of working culture from functional fixedness to design thinking.
Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?
"CMS, Kanpur, has developed a comprehensive approach to student grooming”
Our syllabus focuses on decision-making ability through case studies, team building group activities and out of the box management games. We have created a novel Business Acumen Training Program within which various skill-based activities take place. Star Performers are rewarded with recognition. These activities maintain the essence of teamwork and motivation. Healthy competition thrives amongst the students.
What do you think your responsibilities to the College and the students are?
“We ensure the professional development of individual faculty members and students”
For faculty members to be effective teachers and stay connected with industry developments, we ensure professional development. They take MOOC courses. We encourage all staff members to acquire new skills so the organization runs smoothly and employees are happy. A rotation of jobs is practised to develop the staff. Students are provided all the necessary facilities in terms of education, surroundings, cultural activities, etc. They are encouraged to take on leadership roles as office bearers of various clubs and committees.

What do you see as your Institute’s greatest strengths?
“Live projects, internships and industry interaction programmes for students”
Management education is not complete in a classroom. Our students participate in live projects, internships and many industry interaction programmes so that they are better prepared. We have the right balance between academics, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
The industry exposure at CMS is commendable and regular interactions with experts from the industry prepare students for their professional careers. A huge alumni base is also our strength. In addition to this, we have Ph.D. and NET qualified faculty members for quality education. We also support candidates with merit-based and government scholarships.
How do you tend to establish a healthy environment in your Institute?
“We educate and practice work-life balance for a healthier atmosphere”
We promote uniform systems to eliminate class wise discrimination. We are an anti-ragging campus and have a close-knit team of empathetic leaders, faculty and staff members. Self-governance amongst students is encouraged with the aim of creating a healthy society where people behave responsibly. Girl students of our college are provided with the opportunity to undertake self-defence training programmes through our initiative ‘Project Shakti.’

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?
“They should continue their skilling and learning process lifelong to enable the professional career”
Nowadays, the youth and students are already very bright. They are also aware of the world of opportunities that await them. I would like students to be able to visualize the bigger picture. The goals that emerge from their long term strategy should not be implemented separately but must be considered holistically. Also, always keep that bigger picture in mind while choosing your options.
