Why do you like to be in the education sector rather than anywhere else?

“It is a noble profession which brings about changes for good”

I firmly believe that any society is hugely impacted by their education system. Beyond parents, only people who can deeply impact the growth and development of a society are academicians. Academics and teaching are the only passions in my life as I can be a contributor, a mentor, and a guide.

What is the key to this successful career in this department?

“Having the goals and vision aligned”

The definition of success in this department is no different than anywhere else. Clarity of purpose, right approach and perseverance are the key elements of any success story.

Being in such a good position of leadership, can you please tell me something about your leadership skills?

“It’s like driving a very well-tuned high-end automatic vehicle”

Leadership is not imposing your thoughts and ideas on your teammates and students. It is about making them realize their true potential and getting them to perform at their optimal levels. The job becomes very easy for a leader or a manager if they’re performing well on its own. I encourage my team members and students to take ownership of their respective task. At the same time, I closely monitor, guide, and encourage them to do it well.

What are your thoughts about the education system of India?

“We need to update the resources we use”

The Indian education system needs a complete makeover. The present education necessarily deals with knowledge and comprehension of any subject or field. That too is being taught using old outdated tools. Classroom-based exams and minimal interactive classes take away the better aspect of learning. Instead of the present area of focus, the education system should concentrate on the application of any concept along with building the relevant skillset.

Tell us something about your institute - TSCFM?

“The pedagogy is developed to create efficient professionals”

TSCFM is one of the very few higher educational professional institutions of the country that concentrates on developing the students for their respective careers. Our aim beyond producing graduates and postgraduates. TSCFM has a state of art technology platform to continuously analyze the students’ progress to help the teachers to create a customized learning path for them.

What are your thoughts about the youth of this country?

“They need to have acceptance for their true selves”

Our present youth capital has very high potential. Unfortunately, they neither have the right guidance nor the right attitude to realize and achieve their true self-worth. Given the influence of social media, their self-esteem is very low. They have a lot of energy but no direction to positively channel them. Despite all these limitations, I truly believe that our present youth will prevail and find their rhythm and rhyme.

Which key change have you done in your institute for a better outcome?

“Promoted the importance of being a good listener”

One of the major changes I implemented in my department is to concentrate a lot on listening, reading and interacting skills. I ensure that my teachers spend a lot of time on their students to listen to the problem statement properly in order to come up with a relevant solution.

What are the main challenges do you think for your institute?

“Not adapting or adjusting to the new changes”

There are three main challenges of these modern times for any educational institute:

  • Lack of focus on education for development by both students and their parents.
  • Unbridled and unlimited access to technology to the students.
  • The negative influence of social media.

What do you do to make healthy relationships with your students and teammates?

“Nurturing the relationships that have been established”

I encourage both my teammates and students to interact with me and amongst each other without any distraction. I keep on prompting them to ask a lot of questions and then help them find answers together. I also conduct a lot of sessions for students as well as teachers in order to understand their ongoing requirements. Lastly, having an interactive session in the classroom helps in bettering the bond.

How do you set your goals? Can you outline the process?

“Keeping myself motivated even when faced with adversity”

I have kept my goal-setting process very simple. I identify the problem statement, work on a possible solution and then I choose the most realistic solution with definite timelines and efforts. Once, I start the implementation of the chosen solution, I don’t bother about roadblocks and challenges and go about working on it with my complete dedication.
