What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Contributing and helping students to take on leadership roles and pave a path of success”

The world is changing very fast – environmentally, socially, technologically, politically. Education is the first touchpoint through which the populace can be prepared for changes happening around. Education plays a pivotal role in engendering their thinking and vision and helping them to take on leadership roles to be at the forefront of changes. So I would say that Change is the key factor that keeps me connected. Right now my concern is how to leverage the technology for quality delivery of content to the students and how to keep them engaged.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“Practice what you preach to achieve what you desire”

“Walk the talk” is the adage that has always guided me. Integrity, honesty, and empathy have stood me in good stead. So I unhesitatingly push this value system towards my team and my students. While it will be difficult to slot my leadership style in a simple straightforward management jargon – I am both consensual as well as a persuasive leader. This approach has paid rich dividends.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your college?

“Uniqueness to create the best and explore international culture”

What is unique about TSCFM’S program – well it is our well-thought-out design – we call it the progression matrix. For instance, a British MBA is highly respected by top MNCs and companies worldwide. TSCFM ranked 3rd in India for Global Business Courses gives you a chance to get an MBA from Anglia Ruskin University (UK) through a progression route at 1/3rd of cost. You have the access to best quality education through exposure to global perspectives and International Faculty. And all this happens while the student is concurrently doing his post-graduate program with us. The two-year rigorous program is delivered in a blended learning format encompassing highly interactive sessions, workshops, seminars, project work, simulations, and case studies with an industry mentor.

How does the curriculum of Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management ensure the best practice of industry?

‘Bridging the gap of practical knowledge with theoretical learning with several associations”

There is a continuous dialogue with the Industry so the curriculum gets regularly tweaked to ensure that it is contemporary and stays relevant. Our faculty members are drawn from the industry and know the corporate requirements well enough and through their lectures prepare students for a smooth transition from the campus to the corporate.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the university and the students are?

“The roles and responsibilities work parallel to create a holistic development in the institute of learning”

On a macro level, we want our students to be good and successful corporate citizens with important societal and ethical values. On a micro-level, we want to train them up on Soft skills and domain knowledge so that they transit smoothly from the college to the corporate. It is basically student –teacher partnership - We together tend to work on the same objective to provide complete development to the students in every field.

What do you think should be the institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Establishing the institute at several places to make education worthwhile for every student”

Our top-most priority is to be known for quality education – that is our brand equity. We are aiming for a pan India presence and our journey has already commenced with centers in Nasik, Pune, Indore, Vadodara to name a few places.

When you first came to Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management, what was your vision for the college? Has it evolved, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

“The college tends to become the best with improving and evolving facilities every minute”

When I came to TSCFM – I was very clear where and how the college must direct its efforts, the road that it must pave, and where it must reach. The vision though apparently seemingly simple – was challenging. We wanted our students to learn and not study by rote, understand concepts, think, and apply the things learned. Learning outcomes were always our goal post and I think we are there and yet we are not there fully. We teach our students to observe, reflect and think and then decide, we also tell them the importance of having a deeply ingrained value system that will act as a compass directing them towards their goal.

What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?

“Technological advancement for enhancing the working of the institutional academics”

  • We are one of the few colleges to have effectively leveraged technology to sub-serve the student community and enhance the learning experience.
  • Our in house proprietary App - Ask. Careers App captures a 360 degrees view of the program and provides us with deep insights. I would call it a “Virtual Auditor” of all our programs.
  • For the Faculty, it shows the day, date, and time of their sessions, mark attendance, and also evaluate the students on Ask Benchmarks metrics.

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?

“Enriching academic structure with complete focus on curricular activities and personality development”

Our industry-relevant curriculum, Faculties drawn from the industry, emphasize the holistic development of the students. We stress the importance of having soft skills as much as the domain knowledge. And these are the biggest strengths of my institution. We endeavor to inculcate aptitude, Skills, and knowledge and also measure these metrics. Our assessment methodology emphasizes – evaluation of the understanding of concepts, application of knowledge, research, and learning of the students.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Acceptance and learning work the best together for succeeding in the life”

Accept change – change of jobs, change of careers, change of location, change of vocation. Be prepared for any eventuality. Learn, upskill, upgrade all the way – there are plenty of opportunities out there and all you need is to identify and exploit them. Observe, reflect, think, and act – most of the opportunities that arise would be due to a multitude of newer problems – whose scale, dimension and complexity would be unfathomable. Your unique approach could provide solutions to some of the intractable problems humanity faces. Try to be a part of the solution wherever you go and not a part of the problem.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your college?

“Open communication for attaining mutual understanding and respect among each member”

We believe that healthy relations and a conducive environment are a subset of organizational culture. Our three ‘A’ management approaches – Approachability, Accessibility, and Availability go a long way in promoting a climate of free exchange of ideas and opinions. Open communications and Proactiveness is the usual way we conduct business amongst our fraternity, team members, and students.
