Computer Science Engineering as is is a challenging degree to undertake. The course taught in our college can be ranked at challenging: It is not easy, But with consistent efforts, Scoring well is not a hurdle. The teaching is good but it is the student's responsibility to revise and clarify doubts as needed with the faculty. Some students do fail but it is largely attributed to their irregularity and lack of seriousness. Computer Science Engineering is a staple in our society as of today, The world needs more engineers and proficient programmers to develop software to tackle the never ending stream of problems arising everyday. The course focuses on an individual's problem solving skills and analytical thinking and teaches them to apply these solutions practically by writing clean and efficient code. However, Computer Science Engineering is a field where one cannot afford to stay complacent and not current with the latest trends, A programmer must always constantly study and update their knowledge and skill base to remain employable in this field. There are always new technologies and languages to learn which translates to a lifetime of learning and application of knowledge, This aspect of CSE may not be appealing to a vast demographic of students. Per semester, There are 2 Mid Term Examinations and one Final examination. Midterms form the internal marks scored by the student(40) and externals account for the remaining 60 marks. In a year, 6 examinations are conducted 4 Mid terms and 2 Final exams for 2 semesters. In a day, There are a total of 7 classes including labs on certain days. Each class is 50 minutes long and lab classes are grouped as 3 totaling to 150 minutes. Students get a 10-15 minute break after the first two classes and a 40 minute break after the next 2 classes. Classes commence at 09:50AM and conclude at 15:50PM after which students go home. Faculty use a wide range of teaching methods including Whiteboards, Projectors, Smart Screens and computers. This ensures that the students receive a mode of teaching which is not mundane and boring but engaging and interesting. Hands on activities help reinforce concepts much better than theoretical teaching only. I cannot take names of faculty, However, a faculty member that I admire is someone who is very cheerful yet disciplined, Open and friendly yet strict and understanding and helpful towards the student even outside college. The college follows a mandatory 75% attendance rule per semester. If a student is found to have attendance between 65-75%, They are eligible to pay a condonation fee and appear for final exams. Any lower than 65% without a valid reason may become grounds for detainment.

Campus Life

We have sports facilities both indoor and outdoor such as badminton, basketball, football, lawn tennis and table tennis facilities. We have a fully equipped gym, open at all times. We have well equipped library and auditorium and we have access to third party resources via the library. The campus is 14 acres big and hostel and academic building are not too far off so students just walk to classes every day. Personal vehicles are not allowed on the campus premises. Relatives can visit for a few hours but cannot stay overnight on campus. There are no other food joints apart from the nescafe and the cafeteria. Yes the college has a doctor on campus every day for a few hours and ambulance at all times. The campus life is fun and flexible. The nightlife is lively especially when there are events going on. The cafeterias are open till 5 am every day. Students are always roaming around the campus 24*7. Students go out of the campus very often. Outside the college we have some tea stalls where students usually hangout and there is a small mall and a few cafés nearby. Inside the campus, students hangout around the sports ground or in the cafeteria. Roaming outside the campus at night is not very safe in Ghaziabad. We have our college Fest named Passion, and cultural events such as Holi, dandiya night, freshers and farewell and many more. The campus is lit up during these events. Some celebrities such as Akhil Sachdeva have come on campus to perform in the past and we’ve also had standup comedians such as Biswa join us. Major club committees include the Placement committee, student council, academic committee, the PR committee, admissions committee, mess committee, cultural committee, sports committee and some clubs are enactus, marketing club, etc. I’m currently not a part of any club/committee but during first year I was a part of the PR committee of the college. These club/committees help students with honing there soft skills and are helpful for CV pointers as well. Yes the college also has student exchange programs, students went to France as a part of the exchange. Around 20 students took part in this exchange and about 5-10 lacs was the money spent based on how much everyone could possibly spend

Course Curriculum Overview

Usually about 40-50 students are seated in a class. The total strength of my specialisation is around 350-400. The gender ratio for girls:boys for my batch is 30:70 and it’s the same across all specialisations as well. The class is culturally very diverse with people from different religions, regions, backgrounds. We have students from almost every state starting from Jammu to Tamil Nadu to Assam and Gujarat and even states such as Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradhesh etc. Major population is from northern parts of the country. The peer group is very diverse in terms of the work experience and their previous educational experience. There is a lot peer learning happening in classes especially because we have special marks associated to class participation in every subject. I have mixed view on the fact that students genuinely attend classes for learning. Some students just attend classes to get through the course without a grade loss but the ones who regularly attend and participate in class are the ones truly there to learn.

1. Sports facilities are good and are maintained by the sports committee. A multipurpose ground for cricket/football, basketball court, badminton court, tennis court and a volleyball court comprise the sports facilities in the campus. Equipments are supposed to be brought by the students themselves. 2. Yes the campus does have a couple of gyms. Basic facilities are provided. 3. No the campus doesn't have a swimming pool. 4. Auditorium and library is very good. Yes most of the books are accessible. Library timings are 8 AM to 4 AM. Yes we do have access to a lot of third party databases like crisil, bloomberg, statista etc. 5. The college campus is medium sized with around 14 acres of land The majority hostels are 2-5 minutes walking distance from the acd block. A major chunk of boys do stay in a CDL hostel which is located 4 km from the main campus, students do commute through the shuttle service provided by the campus. 6. Till last year students were allowed to keep their vehicles on campus but this year the administration is not allowing the students to keep personal vehicles in campus. 7. No relatives can't stay overnight in the campus and they need to make their own arrangements. 8. Yes we have one canteen which remians open for 20 hrs and one nescafe which serves tea, coffee etc. No medical center. But we do have an ambulance ready and a doctor who visits the campus for a couple of hours in the evening.1. Overall campus life is moderately vibrant. After classes students do prefer to work on case competitions, projects , club committee activities etc. which keeps them busy . Apart from that they hangout with friends post classes. 2. Nightlife is decent, people hardly sleep and the campus is very lively even late in the night. 3. They go out pretty often. Inside campus major hangout spot is the Arcus in K block and outside campus would be the Babbaar/Abbas tea shop. 4. There is polica patrolling the place late in the night as it is a high profile area with the commissioner residence nearby. But students should not roam alone late in the night. 5. Passion is the cultural fest and chakravyuh is the major sports fest. 6. There are a lot of clubs committeees which serve different specializations of MBA. I am a part of research and consulting club which is responsible for a lot of reseravh based reports which help the students for placements activities etc. 7. Yes there is a International Relations Center which helps students with the international exchange programsoffered by the college. A lot of universities from europe are a part of that. Yes there is some extra fees that needs to be paid for the same.

Faculty

The course curriculum is quite easy, not so difficult. It was prescribed by scert itself. Yes students do fail in the exams. Good aspects of this course are you gain knowledge, skills, confidence to speak, participate in various activities and social interaction too. It also provide hand on experience by giving 30-35 days training in school. The bas aspect is, it is also based on the the old school education system to give exams which I personally don't like and u have to submit various files of all subjects. Although it is a good practise to gain the experience but it is somewhat burdensome. There are 3 exams conducted in a year- 2 internals and 1 term end with 10 subjects each. 8 classes take place usually in a day with 45-50 minutes each. As such no free time is given except lunch break which is of 20-25 minutes. Every teacher has its own methodology to teach. Some use lecture method, some uses discussion method and some uses demonstration method according to the topic and subject. I personally admire all the faculties as they do work wholeheartedly to teach us. All the teachers are best according to my opinion. Yes there is a mandatory attendance rule. You have to maintain atleast 75 percent attendance in a year to qualify for the exams. If you don't fulfill the criteria, then you have to come to colleges in preparatory leaves to complete the attendance. Yes I have seen students coming to college because of short of attendance. And regularly or monthly, students were given short of attendance forms to get it signed by parents and they have to secure the 75 percent criteria of attendance.

The course curriculum is very well-structured. Some students fail their exams. The good aspect of the course is that it covers all the important topics, and the bad aspect is that you need 80% attendance, or else you will have to face grade loss. In the first Trimester, we have 7 exams. We usually have 3 classes in a day, and the timings of the classes are between 9 am and 4:45 pm. Post this time, students usually have free time to do other stuff. But they have to do their club/committee/council work as well as their APO work as well. Teachers usually use PPTs to teach. Vivek Jadav is one of the best faculties as he is willing to schedule extra sessions for the students and also gives great marks in class assignments. You need to maintain 80% attendance, failing to do this will result in grade loss.

Campus Life

Gym, basketball court, badminton court, tennis court, football ground and cricket pitch is available at the campus. Gym is really great. No swimming pool. campus is approximately 7-8 acres. Relatives can visit but till 6 pm only. Medical centre is also there with a doctor and ambulance available at the campus.Overall campus life is great and hectic. and Imt never sleeps because of its rigorous culture.Cafeteiras are open till 4AM. Major committee is the Student affairs and welfare council, Academic committee and admissions committee. Main management event is Passion organised by the student council and sports fest that is Chakravyuh organised by sports committee. College offers student exchange program in various countries like France, Germany, USA and Canada.

The curriculum so far has been quite easy to understand although there are some professors who are too conceptual and cannot find any real world experiences to relate to or compare the concepts to. Failing in itself is not common as close to 60marks constitute our internals and with a bit of effort, students can score pretty well in internals plus their is the added benefit of relative marking which safeguards students from any sort of definite pass or fail mark. Across a year we have somewhere around 20 officials end term exams and anywhere between 50-60 quizzes or assignments that constitute our internal marks and evaluation with another 15-20 presentation as well. For example, for a 3 credit subject with 20 lectures, you can miss4. If you miss between 5-6 you suffer a singular Grade Loss, if you miss 7-8 that becomes a Double Grade Loss and so on and so forth. Multiple students have already missed so many classes and I am ware of people who have grade losses in 4-5 subjects out of the 6-7 exams that we will be attempting in the end term examinations.

I found out about IMT via sites like Shiksha and Collegedunia as I had searched for colleges to apply for basis the percentile I had received in CAT which was around 93 with a work ex of around 4-5 months at that point in time. I filled out the application form for IMT and got a CTPI slot of 11th Feb 2024 and in the morning slot. Our document verification and panel allotment started within 45mins-1hr of the reporting time and it was a seamless process with not much in terms of hiccups. Even people who did not have documents in their physical form were either told to get printouts from the stationery shops right below the centre, or if details were visible enough in the soft copy itself they were let off. We had a written test at first of roughly 200-250 words for which sufficient time was allotted and post that we were allotted different interview panels and serial numbers basis which we had to sit in rooms that were thankfully air conditioned ensuring that no one had a long or painful wait. The PI itself for me revolved around my graduate college life, my work experience and slightly into the domain of current affairs. The interview lasted around 10-15mins with almost all panels having 2 interviewers and around 13-15 candidates to interview in the morning slot. Post reporting at 6, I was done with all necessary proceedings by 1 and then proceeded home.

The curriculum is very intense at IMT Ghaziabad, with terms holding multiple exams in the form of quizzes, assignments, presentations for each subject and then the final exams. Classes usually start at 9 AM, and close at 5 PM, with 4-6 hours of lectures in a day. The university uses several educational models such as case studies and classroom discussions with esteemed lecturers.. On the other hand, compulsory attendance of 80% is also required; any student who fails to do so faces a grade loss. Thus, although a lot of students manage to get through the workload, some others do not; thus, effective time and energy management is put to use.

Besides the main canteen, there are several other food stalls. There is a medical center with a qualified doctor to treat students in case of any medical issue.Cafeterias open till late, which permits the student to hang out and study well into the night. Many students go out, on occasion, to nearby hangouts and the locality is pretty safe around the college too. The college holds several major fests and cultural events, providing it with a vibrant campus life.. There are also other active clubs and committees, as well as Marketing and Finance clubs, which add more significant value to your CV. International immersion and student exchange programs with the partner universities in the USA and Europe attract around 20-30 students per year and usually require a supplementary fee for participation.

Course Curriculum Overview

Generally the class strength at IMT Ghaziabad is around 60-70 students, with an overall PGDM strength of about 740 students. Then there are specialisations in marketing and Finance with an approximate strength of 100 to 120 each. The institute has a predominantly male student base with about 36 percent girls and 64 percent boys. Cultural diversity also marks the institute with students hailing from different states like Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal among others, that really add to the classroom discussions. Peer learning is greatly encouraged and often, marks are earned on participation. Thus, students arrive to class for engaging reasons. Most students have good attitudes toward attending classes since they can learn through insights from faculty members and the team spirit created by peers.

There are 3 trimesters every year, and each trimester has an end-term exam along with multiple quizzes, group projects and presentations. Most of the subjects are easy to understand. Continuous quizzes help with the revision of the course materials. In the first trimester, the classes are usually scheduled from 9 am to 4:45 pm all days of the week. Students who are engaged with committee work do not get much free time after classes and some find it really hard to balance academics and extracurriculars. Students also have to maintain 80% attendance in each subject or else they suffer grade losses. Lecturers use PPTs to teach in class and keep the sessions interactive by bringing in real-life case studies relevant to the topic at hand. Most of them are great at engaging students but there are some who just come and read out the slides.

The college hosts two major events every year- Chakravyuh (sports event) and Passion (flagship management & cultural fest). The course curriculum is one of the most difficult among various different courses. People are failing in exams. A score of 60 per cent is considered really good and scored only by the top cader. The course demands a lot from the student. There are multiple internal assessments and exams, with a final end-term exam usually at the end of the year. Students typically attend theory and practicals daily; the day usually starts at 8 am and ends at 6 pm. And there is a minimum attendance requirement of 75 per cent, below which students won't be allowed to attend their end-term exams. The faculty members are knowledgeable with in-depth knowledge in their own specialisations.

Auditorium and library is very good. Yes most of the books are accessible. Library timings are 8 AM to 4 AM. Yes we do have access to a lot of third party databases like crisil, bloomberg, statista etc. 5.

There is an ambulance on campus and a doctor who comes everyday for 2 hours. Very good. There is an international exchange program where students can go and students from abroad come as well. Partner university in US, UK, France, etc. the cafeterias are open till 5 AM, close from 5 - 8 and open up again by 9 AM. There are many places inside and outside the campus where students can hangout. Passion is the best fest. 3 day event with everything. Anuv Jain, The Local Train, Zahir Khan. I’m part of Student Council. I do believe being in club / committees help as we get to learn a lot and get a lot of exposure to sponsorship, designing, marketing etc.

Exam Structure

So I applied to IMT after my XAT results came out. Had to submit my documents online . Then got call letter for IMT and was asked to fill preferred city for interview, then came interview day, finished the interview and waited for a while after which results were announced. And I got an offer letter along with that I got a fee breakup and instructions on when to pay the fee. Document submission etc.

Ques. Is it advisable to leave your 6-LPA job and join IMT Ghaziabad marketing PGDM?

● Top Answer By Pragya Tripathi on 16 Feb 23

Ans. When considering whether to pursue a higher degree or continue working with a current job offer, it is important to weigh the potential long-term benefits of upgrading one's education against the immediate financial gain from the job offer. While it may be tempting to take a high-paying job in the short term, an advanced degree such as an MBA from a reputable institution can open doors to even more opportunities and higher earning potential in the long run. IMT Ghaziabad is a good institution that offers a strong value proposition, even though it may not be considered a top institution compared to IIM or ISB. It is still considered a reputable institution in India and an MBA from IMT Ghaziabad can open many doors for students. However, it's important to keep in mind that this decision ultimately depends on your personal career goals and aspirations. It's best to weigh your options and consider which path aligns best with your long-term career aspirations.Read more

Ques. How is MDI gurgaon's PGP-IM Programme?

● Top Answer By Harshal Sonawanw on 21 Feb 23

Ans. MDI Gurgaon’s PGP-IM Program is one of the most coveted Management courses of the institute. It has several features that distinguish it from other regular PGP courses offered at top B Schools. My brother opted for this course out of many and he listed the following reasons that compelled him to go for the program  The PGP-IM students of MDI Gurgaon are offered an MBA degree from ESCP Europe and this is a major turning point in steering their career globally. The admission criteria of the programs have witnessed slight changes with a work experience of 2 years being a compulsion. This is mainly because most European companies prefer prior work experience and hence it becomes easier to get jobs then. The work experience requirement has made IM students of MDI Gurgaon in demand for Consulting jobs globally as well as locally. The course is dynamic and requires you to go to respective ESCP campuses across London, Madrid, Paris, and Berlin for a 4-month term post which you do your internships, either in Europe or back in India. Getting internships is not difficult at all and almost everyone gets an internship easily. 60% of students take internships in Europe, and 40% take them in India. If you fail to get or yourself don’t take the PPO from your internship companies, you can sit for Final placements along with PGDM students without any bias. It’s the above points that strongly assert the worth of the IM program at MDI Gurgaon. As it’s graduate you are not only an MDI alumnus but also an ESCP alumnus. You can use both brand names to your advantage. Choosing MDI is like investing for 2 years for a benefit of 30-35 years. So the brand name and alumni base definitely matter more than just a random IIM tag.Read more

Ques. How would you rate IIM Lucknow - Noida Campus for PGP course?

● Top Answer By John Praveen on 06 Jan 23

Ans. My friend is currently pursuing the EGMP program and has a lot to say about it. Although the primary campus of IIM Lucknow is in Lucknow, all the Executive Education Programs are conducted at the Noida Campus which is the secondary campus. The quality of the curriculum and pedagogy remains the same for the regular PGP courses and EGMP courses. The same learned faculty teaches at both campuses. Even the study material and curriculum are the same. Moreover, once you have completed the program successfully you will be granted a certificate for the completion from IIM Lucknow with an alumni status. But these programs have no placements. Except for IPMX, all the other Executive Education Programs lack placements. My friend is very happy with the course content and the quality of education offered. Infact, some of the IIM Lucknow professors are guest lecturers in some of the best B schools in India and abroad.Read more

Ques. How do I get a package of 30 lakhs in the field of marketing, post MBA from IIMA/B/C, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, and IIFT?

● Top Answer By Saransh Shah on 06 Mar 23

Ans. While many may shed their philosophies on how getting a high package should not be your ultimate goal and stuff, I am here with a different opinion. When you are investing a huge amount of money it is only right to expect a greater monetary benefit and a better lifestyle. So I have mentioned some techniques that will help you land a package of 30 LPA specifically in the field of marketing post-MBA from IIM ABC, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, and IIFT. The first thing you need to do is lower your expectations as no marketing placements offer a package higher than 25 LPA. These highest offers are made by top firms like Reckitt Benckiser, HUL, P&G, and Asian Paints. You need to figure out what you really are after, a good marketing role or a high-paying job. If you are after the latter I suggest you go for big consulting firms like Mc Kinsey, BCG, or investment banks that offer 30+ LPA. But if it is the marketing role you are after, then make sure your resume reflects your marketing enthusiasm. This will further increase your chances of selection. Performing well in the competitions conducted by your desired company is another way to get a high-paying job.  If the Final Placements are your last resort then make sure you have a stable and excellent CGPA. Many companies consider this factor while shortlisting. These points will help you get your dream job but cannot necessarily guarantee it. It all ultimately depends on your efforts and obviously your luck.Read more

Ques. How is the PGDM marketing program at SPJIMR? Also, can you shed light on the placement scenario as well?

● Top Answer By Vishal Jha on 06 Mar 23

Ans. The SPJIMR PGDM Marketing program is similar to top B Schools like IIM ABC. The key highlights of the same program are listed below. Please note these are not generic and are specifically related to the Marketing program. Curriculum: The curriculum is almost exactly what is taught at elite B Schools. The relevancy of the curriculum is maintained through unique programs like GFT wherein a 3-week immersion at some of the finest universities of the USA takes place. A very interesting program called ‘A day in the life of a Salesman’ is a much talked about program at SPJIMR. In this, you will get to shadow a salesman from a reputed FMCG company so that you understand the techniques of sales and distribution. Pedagogy: The pedagogy adopted is usually a case-based approach. Mostly Harvard cases are used to strike discussions in the classrooms. Additionally, live projects are conducted by various visiting companies. Such initiatives help formulate an effective pedagogy. Faculty: The faculty is a great combination of professors with theoretical knowledge and industry experts. All are highly competent in their respective fields . Batch: The diversity of the batch can be looked up on the official website by checking the profiles of the Marketing batch specifically. Usually, the crowd is diverse and has an overall good profile. Placements: The placement statistics can be checked on the official website. The figures are inflated but can be used for comparison purposes only. The table below includes the key highlights of SPJIMR placements 2023 Particulars  Statistics  Highest salary  INR 77.8 LPA Average salary INR 33.02 LPA Top Recruiters  Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever Limited, ITC, Accenture StrategyRead more

Ques. What should be preference order of IMT Ghaziabad courses- PGDM, PGDM marketing, PGDM finance, PGDM DCP, PGDM banking, insurance and financial services?

● Top Answer By Dhruv Chatterjee on 25 Jan 23

Ans. IMT Ghaziabad offers a variety of courses that cater to various specializations. These courses have been listed and explained in their order of preference PGDM Marketing/PGDM Full Time (Marketing): This is the most coveted program among IMT students mainly because today its alumni have acquired top positions in big firms. Other major reasons include top-notch faculty, great internship and placement opportunities in terms of role and CTC, IMT’s eligibility, and excellent performances in recognized marketing and strategy B Schools competitions. PGDM Finance/PGDM Full Time (Finance): This one is most suitable for aspirants who are interested in Finance. However, this program offers lesser opportunities than the Marketing program in terms of role and CTC.  PGDM Full Time (Operations): This program offers opportunities similar to that of Finance. But the batch size of PGDM Operations is smaller than PGDM Finance, so it may be easier to secure an internship/final placement, but the opportunities come less compared to Finance. PGDM DCP: DCP or the Dual Country Program is for those who are keen to get international exposure. Compared to an MBA from a foreign university, this program is cheaper and yet offers an opportunity to explore a different culture and learn to make decisions in an international context. This is best suitable for those who are in the Marketing domain. PGDM Banking and Financial Services (PGDM-BFS): This program was launched in 2019 and is relatively newer. It targets the core Banking and Finance sector. While the MBA program aims to provide a holistic view of management, this program solely focuses on Banking and Finance. PGDM Full Time (HR): This is the least taken course and offers very less in terms of opportunities. The courses have been arranged preference-wise so will make it easy for you to choose one.Read more
