Dr. B. Kiran Bala is the Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Branch at the K.Ramakrishnan College of Engineering, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. He obtained his BB.Tech in Information Technology, M.E in Computer and Communication Engineering, and his Ph.D. degree in the area of Computer Science and Engineering. He has published more than 50 technical articles in various reputed International Journals. He has also published patents and books. He is a Remote Centre Coordinator for IIT Bombay and conducted many programs which include Central Government School Principals training program. He is the Ambassador for Bentham Science. Currently, He is In-charges of the AICTE approval process, Anna University Affiliation process, National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“The responsibility is to provide education to every student equally”

As an Assistant Professor of the Computer Science and Engineering Department, I focus on ensuring that every student in my department gets the best-updated version of the syllabus. I make sure that the syllabus of my department gets completed timely for each semester. I make students aware of the new opportunities present at the national and international levels.

How do you make the subjects industry-oriented?

“Providing students with industrial visits to gain practical experience”

Despite the pandemic, the practical education for our college has not stopped at all. I ensured that the virtual industrial visits take place at regular intervals. At our college, we provide online classes at regular intervals. Various courses are offered with qualified faculty who are committed to providing quality education. Also, we regularly organize industrial visits, seminars, and speaker speeches that help them to gain practical knowledge.

How do you help students to gain necessary subject-related skills?

“Providing Students with the demanding skills of Programming Languages”

I help in gaining the necessary subject-related skills by organizing workshops, seminars, and lectures on the ongoing burning topics of Computer Science. I also conduct short-term training on the various programming languages like C, C++, JAVA, Python, etc. Algorithms and Data Science are also taught to the students.

How do you update and strategize the curriculum?

“Updation of the Syllabus by designing the strategies”

The Syllabus of Computer Science and Engineering gets updated at regular intervals. It is a department in which every day a new concept gets introduced and old concepts get updated. Therefore, the update of the syllabus is the most important part of the curriculum. Several strategies are also designed to help students to cope up with the changing syllabus of the departments.

I conduct the workshops at regular intervals for giving the students information regarding the ongoing Higher Education in the field of Computer Science.

What are the challenges you are facing in uplifting the quality of education of your department?

“To ensure continuous education for students even during the pandemic and coming years”

Ensuring continuous education for students in the pandemic time is the challenge faced by me currently. My priority is that the education of all students of the department should not be affected by the lack of facilities provided by the college. I am striving to achieve the best possible educational experience for the students.

What advice would you give to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

“Students should focus on the changing demands of the industries and adjust themselves according to it”

I just want to tell the students that the demand of IT industries is changing at an alarming rate due to the ongoing pandemic. Many IT companies are shifting toward the Hybrid concept of working. The demand for more and more IT individuals is increasing day by day. The subjects like Image Processing, Networking, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and IoT are also in great demand. I, Therefore motivate students to pursue short-term courses on these subjects also to make themselves more and more acceptable in the industries.
