NIIT University: Recent Happenings and Events

NIIT, Neemrana hosted various events and workshops recently. This establishes NU as an institution that focuses on the holistic development of its students. Mentioned below are the highlights of the various recent event and happenings. 

Exploring the Future of Education and Technology: Prof. Sugata Mitra’s Visit to NIIT University

NIIT University recently witnessed a talk by renowned educator, Prof. Sugata Mitra, Professor Emeritus, NIIT University. His unique perspective on the technology of AI and how it would be implemented in education helped students and faculty members tremendously. He raised the prominent topic of Assessment and Evaluation, in particular using technology, in the current environment. The highlight of the visit was Prof. Sugata Mitra’s talk on ChatGPT: AI and Learning. His insights were inspiring and provided a roadmap for future research and development in the field of education and technology.

A Talk on Cyber Security – From Present to Future 

Ms. Marcella O’Shea and Mr. Ishvinder Singh from Cisco delivered a talk on ‘Cyber Security – From Present to Future’ on March 03, 2023. Cyber Security is of great importance and therefore, one cannot think of ignoring the same in today’s era. The speakers shared their vast experiences with the students. The session wrapped up with Marcella and Ishvinder giving away certificates to students who had successfully completed courses offered by CISCO NetAcad.

Aravali Bachao Campaign- an invited talk by Ms. Neelam Ahluwalia

Ms. Neelam Ahluwalia delivered a talk on the ‘Aravalli Bachao Campaign’ on March 01, 2023 in NIIT, Neemrana. The invitees were felicitated by Prof. Parimal V Mandke, Vice President, NU and Prof. Vijay V Mandke, Mentor Professor and Area Director, ET Area, NU. Maj. Gen. A. K. Singh, Dean of Student Affairs & Chief Operations Officer thanked the guests for their insightful talk and discussions. Nature conservation has been her passion and area of work for the past 27 years. Her involvement in the conservation of nature inspired the students in having an empathetic view toward the degradation of the nature. She is the founder member and trustee of the Aravalli Bachao Citizens Movement working to save the oldest mountain range in India and also volunteers her time for many other forest and environment campaigns across India.

National Science Day, 2023

NIIT University celebrated National Science Day on February 28th, 2023 in remembrance of late Sir CV Raman. This year’s theme is ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’. In keeping with India’s effort to take global leadership to lead us to a better and more sustainable future. The day began with an online quiz presented to all at the University. The winners of the quiz were acknowledged through a congratulatory email. This was followed by a discussion led by Prof. Rajesh Khanna, President, NIIT University. 

Book Launch

NIIT, Neemrana organized a book launch session on Saturday, February 04, 2023. The book titled – ‘Start-ups and Disruption’ is authored by Ms. Kadambari Rao Batra, a noted professional working with the IT sector that provides solutions to the insurance industry. Ms. Batra shared some interesting and inspiring snippets of disruption from her own life. This was followed by a Q&A session with the active involvement of the students as well as the faculty members. Ms. Batra shared her opinions on what constitutes disruption, creating a disruption to change the status quo and how to use it as an opportunity for growth. 

Martyrs Day’23

Martyrs’ Day is observed on 30th January every year to pay tribute to one of the most prominent leaders in the history of India, ‘Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary. The day also honors all freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country. NIIT took part in this remembrance day and hosted various events and competitions to spread awareness among the students. The day began with an online quiz followed by deliberations on Gandhi’s messages and ideologies.
