Prof. Omprakash Barapatre is an Associate Professor (CSE) and Exam Superintendent in the Bhilai Institute of Technology, Raipur. He graduated from Raipur Institute of Technology in 2006 and post-graduation from Rungta College of Engineering and Technology, Bhilai in 2014. He has 15 years of experience in the technical education field. His interest areas are Computer Networks, Data Structures, Algorithms, and Image Processing. 

What keeps you connected with the education Sector?

“To create more opportunities and connect me with the education sector”

One of the best possible methods to mingle with individuals is through the education sector. It provides me with more opportunities and attains human values. I impart my knowledge to many students and it leads to their development. Apart from these, I like my profession and it is beneficial for the world. 

What are your roles and responsibilities?

“Impart proper guidance for students with the best quality education”

My duty is to implement human values and technical ideas for students. It assists them to innovate new ideas and raises their growth. Our responsibility is to give proper guidance and valuable resources for their studies. We feel happy when they attain success all over the world. 

What extracurricular activities enhance students' skills to face real-world challenges?

“Sports and cultural events like Cricket, Volleyball, and Badminton are provided to all”

We conduct cultural events like Cricket, Volleyball, and Badminton for students. The campus also organizes quizzes, Debate, minute shows, Ad Mad Show, Poster Making, Flower Decoration, and Management Games. Our infrastructure consists of an LCD projector, computers, laptops, microphones, speakers, and a sound system. 

How does the curriculum of Bhilai Institute of Technology, Raipur prepare students' future?

“Blended learning processes and research activities occur for the growth of students”

Our students use technological methods to widen their knowledge. They learn about new things with a blended learning process. We provide research activities for students in several fields such as Computer science, Civil, mechanical, Electronics and telecommunications.

How do you bring a practical approach towards subjects as industry-oriented?

“Focus on industry demand and necessity for practical knowledge for students”

We provide theoretical and practical aspects inside the campus. Our focus is on industry demand and students get real-world examples to resolve the issues. I always bring forward the industry necessity instead of sticking into the curriculum. It leads us to innovate new ideas, aware of rules and regulations in industrial scenarios. 

What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to train the students?

“Training for interviews, mock viva and case studies available to candidates”

Campus signed MOUs with industries. It avoids the gap between academia and industry needs. We give training for Interviews, Mock viva, Case studies, and Group Discussions. It makes them ready for placement interviews.

What do you like people to know about the Bhilai Institute of Technology, Raipur?

“Provide quality engineering education and employability for students”

Our campus was established in 2009 and is the second institution by BIT Trust. BIT engineering college was established in the heart of new Raipur, Kendri. We are famous in the quality engineering education field and give employability for students after their studies. The campus carves our complete engineers into the society.

What challenges do you see for higher education and Bhilai Institute of Technology, Raipur?

“Insecurity of students from rural areas with low income”

The campus faces several challenges. One of these is the insecurity of students from a low background. Most of the pupils are from rural areas seeking admission. We try our best to bring these students to education.
