Dr. Md. Khaja Mohiddin is the Dean Training and Placement at the Bhilai Institute of Technology, Raipur. He completed his B.Tech. from Al-Ameer College of Engineering & Information Technology, Visakhapatnam, M.Tech. in Digital Electronics & Communication Systems from Chaitanya Engineering College, Visakhapatnam and Ph.D. in Wireless Communication & Mobile Adhoc Network from GITAM (Deemed to be University), Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. His research interests include Wireless Communication, Wireless Sensor Networks, Image Processing, Power Electronics and Power Systems. He had published more than 25 research papers in referred international & national journals, international & national conferences.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“I allow students to face mock interview sessions to boost their confidence”

As a Dean of Training & Placement of BIT, Raipur, I have many responsibilities towards the students like making students capable of qualifying in the written round of all the campus recruitment drives. Allowing them to train in aptitude and personality development, core programming skills etc. Placement is one of the most important parts for most of the students that come to our college, so looking after a department of such great importance is a big responsibility for me. I try to do this job to the best of my capability.


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty members?

“By being a mentor to the students wherever required”

Healthy relations in the college with both students and fellow faculty is one of the most important factors to keep a positive atmosphere in the campus. We all follow some basic protocols to maintain good relations with each other. We interact with students and fellow teachers politely and maintain soft spoken behaviour with each other.


How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

“We allow the students for vocational training, internships etc. during their course”

We organize ‘Industrial tours’, making them visit the industries in person to have exposure to their core knowledge. This helps them to understand the practical application of the subjects which is beneficial for their overall core knowledge. We keep arranging the expert lectures via the industry persons from time to time for the students so that they can have an idea as to what skills are required to fit in the industry after they pass out from the college.

What are the best practices offered by your college to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

“We believe that skill development is the most important thing in today’s technology-driven world”

The value of a degree is not what it was before until a student does not have a certain skill that makes him employable. Keeping this in mind we arrange many things for the students like Aptitude Training, Personality Development Classes, Mock Interviews, Group discussions, Symposiums, JAM Rounds, Core Programming Skills Training and many more. These practices help in the overall personality development of the student, help them in gaining necessary skills and further help them in getting a good job. Not only a job but a good skill set prepares them for becoming competitive entrepreneurs in the future.


How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

“We have organized many skill development programs for students”

From time to time we are conducting Seminars and Webinars on the latest theme and current technologies for students for their interest and also interacting with industry experts. We also provide Training, conducting Mock tests, Group Discussions and Personal Interviews that students can be aware of the actual process of selection. We help them in upgrading their knowledge as per the forthcoming scenario by making them know the practical approaches in future technologies. 


How does the college enhance the skills of the faculty and prepares them according to the industry standards?

“We provide our faculty members with the latest courses to upgrade their skills”

We train the faculty according to the industry standards by allowing them to attend & acquire the skills in Faculty Development Programs, Seminars, Workshops, Short Term Training Programs, Conferences, Research Publications and Professional Memberships etc.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

“Never give up until you get settled in your career”

Keep working hard till then, learn from the failures in your life and avoid making those mistakes going forward. Continuous learning and implementing the same in life should be adopted to achieve success.
