Prof Aditya Tiwari is working as a Senior Assistant Professor and Alumni Professor Incharge at Bhilai Institute of Technology. He has been working with this institute since 2011. His areas of interest are Data Structures and Algorithms, Data Mining, Soft Computing, Big Data, Computer Graphics. He has published 5 research papers in various national and international journals. He is also working as Faculty Coordinator for conducting Spoken Tutorials, NPTEL at Spoken Tutorial Centre of Bhilai Institute of Technology, as member of central committee i.e. Discipline committee, Sports committee, etc as a member of Anti-ragging committee.

What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far?

“Desire to teach posterity to help reshape my country is the main cause”

Being an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering department, my love for education and teaching the future generation which would help in rebuilding this nation is what keeps me associated with the education sector. Apart from this, the passion for transforming this world in a better way our institute gives me ample opportunities, space and freedom along with the much-needed friendly environment.


What are your roles and responsibilities towards your students?

“To be the best mentor for them via my teaching and guidance”

Working as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering department of Bhilai Institute, I need to take care of several things including proper guidance and teaching for students, to develop required skills in them for technical events like Hackathon, Paper writing for Journals, workshops, webinars and innovative Projects.


What extracurricular activities are organized in college to expose students to real-world challenges?

“I am driving the Hackathon initiative and helping students to implement innovative ideas”

As far as co-curricular activities are concerned, I am leading as a SPOC of the institute in Hackathon and under my guidance students are developing their skills and putting their Innovative ideas on the table to make society a better place. Also, we have various different programs which help in the overall personality development of students.


How does the curriculum of BIT ensure the future preparedness of students?

How do you bring in a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?

“I take help of original case histories documentation to assure this”

To ensure that students are not only mugging up theory but understanding the concepts in a better way, I use real-life case studies in my classroom teaching to make them aware of existing issues and what skills does the industry expects from our students in the corporate world.


Which approaches do you follow apart from the curriculum to teach students?

“I take everyone’s strength and weakness into account while teaching them”

The approach is learner-centric while incorporating students of different abilities and backgrounds. Also, students are encouraged to participate in various online and offline hackathons and webinars so that they can be well informed about how the world is progressing and how we have to work on updating our skills to match the industry's standards.

What is the biggest challenge you see for higher education in general?

“Scarcity of students in engineering field”

The number of students opting for mathematics and pursuing engineering is less these days. Their interest is being diverted to some of the other fields and few of them don’t go for engineering due to inaccessibility and financial issues.
