Dream Institute of Technology

Dr. Dipankar Sarkar is the Principal of Dream Institute of Technology. He is an academician who has over three years of experience in research and over sixteen years of academic experience. He believes in leading by example and setting benchmarks for others to follow the footsteps. He is a pragmatic person and the same can be said about his approach towards the institution. Read here in his interview what he has to say

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“A participative leadership style brings many ideas that can be explored and implemented”

I prefer a democratic and participative type of leadership style. I delegate work to different people and try to push them to achieve success. A whole new ecosystem forms through the process when there is no dependency on anyone. As a leader, I create examples for others to follow. It leaves a mark and traces a path where others can follow your footsteps.

Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“We are secular in terms of racism and economic-backgrounds”

We have a temporal attitude towards secular practice in true sense. We encourage the students to form economically deprived segments of the society to avail all scholarships available for them. We even give them our scholarships as per the norms of the institute management. Also, we have facilities of fully furnished hostels for the students who hail from the North-eastern and North-western parts of the country. The culmination of these students creates a secular atmosphere which is welcoming for the students of diverse race and economic backgrounds.

“I think that the institute’s top priority over the next 10 Years would be to create an Autonomous Institute catering Global Standard Digital education empowering students to tackle innovative demands of the industry.”

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Dream Institute of Technology, specifically?

“The cost factor is one of the biggest challenges, which still persists for a student to opt for a four-year course”

The challenges of higher education start from the cost factor. The cost of a four-year education in India is high for the average income category of the Indian population. If the government provides more facilities to eradicate the barrier of affordability, there will be more students opting for a four-year course.

The government should also find standardized accreditation processes for all colleges. If colleges have to go through the accreditation process and quality control processes, then that can overcome their shortcomings. Additionally, the government can come up with more innovative scholarship schemes for backward people. As far as the Dream Institute of Technology is concerned, we are promoting many schemes of the government from which the student can benefit in terms of their financial requirements.

What is the placement statistics of your college?

“We help students by forming a bridge to the resources they require during their placements”

At Dream Institute of Technology, we provide satisfactory placement to all the students who enrol in the system. It is a two-way traffic where students are the job seekers, and we become the bridge to resources with all the necessary tools for industry requirements. As of the placement of the students, we can assess if a student is dedicated enough and has attended at least 75% of the classes conducted, then we can place the students. At the time of admission, it is discussed openly with the students, and we give guidance to the students if they can attend at least 75% of the classes conducted.
