This university had the program I was interested in and was the most reputable university close to where I lived. I did not want to move too far.
I chose UBC because it is close to home and has a very high reputation. They are a world-class research facility as well which motivated me to accept their offer. Their campus is filled with a lot of beautiful, natural scenery as well. A lot of my friends from high school also accepted their offers to UBC which made me want to join them.
The co-op program is where you're able to get related work experience to your program. So when you come out of the program as a fresh undergrad, you already have contacts and work experience under your belt. Most Canadian universities have this program, which is great.
I always dreamed of coming to Canada and UBC was my first choice for engineering, considering the campus, ranking, and the Vancouver weather as compared to the rest of Canada.
