Overview
My professor asked me to apply here because it is one of the top 50 universities in the world and among the top ten in Canada. After his recommendation, I did some research on my own and came to know about its state of the art facilities and also interdisciplinary learning programs and decided to submit my application. The fee was $168.
Fees
The total tuition fee for my program was around $44,000. I was required to pay the tuition amount in three instalments which came down to around $15,000. Along with this, I also had to pay around $3,000 as a continuing fee. I also had to pay around $1000 as a student services fee and around $270 for health plan charges.
Overview
The University of British Columbia is one of the most oldest and prestigious universities. The only deal behind making my choice was placement is good for this university.
Overview
I have heard a lot about the University. Their representatives have visited us many times. UBC also offers a "testing" online learning session where students would get to be a part of the program for several sessions. This has allowed me to fully experience how my class would feel like if I were an official UBC student. UBC also offers many clubs activities and are especially good in helping students find jobs and internships.

work study options in the university of british columbia
Educational experience at University British Columbia is much more than just obtaining a UBC undergraduate or graduate program degree. It is also about gaining developing employable skills, building a network, and gaining professional experience. All this can be done with UBC work study programs, available for both domestic and international students.
University of British Columbia’s work study program offers five components to aid a student’s personal growth:
- Personal and professional development
- Learning workplace skills and etiquette
- Exploring potential career options
- Experimental academic learning
- Ongoing mentorship
As you must be aware international students, on Canadian student visa, are required to adhere to certain regulations while opting to work part-time (or work study) during their studies, not just at UBC but any Canadian university. Students may even require a work permit.
Like in any other university, international students at UBC can choose to work on-campus or off-campus.
On-Campus Work Study Options at UBC
UBC on-campus work study opportunities include university-related work such as working at facilities like clinics, research institutes, teaching, etc.
Apart from this, students may choose to work with:
- UBC student organization
- Private contractor operating within UBC campus boundaries.
For these on-campus employment options, international students do not require any work permit. However, if their on-campus work is an internship or co-op program, then they may need the Canadian work permit.
Off-Campus Work Study Options at UBC
Off-campus work options include volunteering and internship opportunities. UBC students enrolled in any program, do not require a work permit for off-campus work as well, as long as you maintain your full-time student status.
While it is your choice to go for on-campus or off-campus work options, international students are highly recommended to seek on-campus employment. This is because UBC on-campus jobs do not have any restrictions in terms of the number of working hours. However, students working off-campus can only work for 20 hours per week. Therefore, decide your UBC working while studying options wisely.
