Taranjyot Singh Review at Concordia University, Montreal | Collegedunia

Great!

I chose this University because of the course model and the location because Montreal one of the biggest IT hubs in Canada.

Course Curriculum :

It's been a year for me at Concordia and so far it's been excellent. The professors are co-operating and understanding. One can easily access the resources of the university on the premises or the online services. It is a student-friendly environment. The course curriculum is very much designed according to industrial aspects so as to make students ready for the field.

Exams :

CV, LOR, and SOP all are a must.CV should include all your experiences and certifications/project work. Apart from that, humanitarian or extra-curricular activities add up to great benefit.LOR's are not a tough job to do. It actually consists of your professor's/teacher's reviews of you and the topics you have covered in their lectures.SOP is many times deciding the time for your application to be accepted. A strong SOP contains all your details from schooling to certifications to internships to work experience. It must contain why you aspire to study abroad and what you can contribute to their country; and once you are done with your degree, what are your plans ahead for your home country or what prospects you think you have in future your home country.

Placement :

There are plenty of opportunities; in the end, it all depends on your skill set, network, and references.

Internship :

No, I didn't as this is my first year. In the future, when I have my first-year transcript I will surely apply for the same.

Events :

There are a lot of events and activities happening all week round the campus by different bodies of the University. It ranges from hackathons to presenting business ventures to movie nights and cultural festivals to volunteering programs. The participation is quite easy and interesting, you meet new people and expand your network.

Scholarship :

Graduates hardly get any scholarships, but there are many scholarship options for undergraduates.

Faculty :

My course is under Gina Cody School of Computer Science. The faculty to student ratio is 1:21 which makes it quite easier for query/ doubt solving individually. The faculties are very much open to new suggestions/ ideas/ reforms which make them highly understanding and co-operating. Every professor can be reached out directly or via their TA's. There are advisory bodies for all courses that guide throughout your program.

Hostel :

I opted for off-campus living. It is more suitable as you don't have time and food restrictions; moreover, the cost for off-campus housing is cheaper than the on-campus living. My approximate expense per month is $600 which includes house rent, wi-fi, electricity, laundry, gym, transportation card, grocery, and mobile bill.
