Remi Bernard Review at Concordia University, Montreal | Collegedunia

JMSB: Three years view on University

RB
7.5 /10

Price, additionally I am half French so I thought it would be nice to get away from the USA and practice my French in a new country. Also, Montreal is a gorgeous city and I was looking to move out of a small town to a big city.

Course Curriculum :

It is very challenging but also very rewarding. My major is very intensive and I find myself doing work 20-30 hours a week to ensure that I keep up to date with my courses. The classes are very interesting as well.

Exams :

SAT, ACT that's it. Got 1990 on SAT and 30 on the ACT. I didn't need to take any tests upon arriving in Canada.

Placement :

Concordia's alumni outreach spans across Canada as well as the US. Although not as extensive as McGill's, it is still considered very prestigious for studies in business. I've received multiple job opportunities from employers who are aware of JMSBs reputation.

Internship :

They provide a form of internships called co-op however I have not registered for the program. I do internships outside of the school. They have been extremely educational and provided a bit of extra cash but not much.

Events :

I do not regularly attend events held by the university. I am pretty busy during the week and during weekends I'm either playing intramural soccer or enjoying the beautiful city of Montreal. I am aware of the great events that the university does hold.

Fees :

I pay the tuition fees as well as insurance fees. Within all the charges are the accumulated administrative fees. I am not entirely sure the breakdown of all the fees but I know they are grouped together and are distributed to the various societies and other organizations that the school offers.

Scholarship :

No, I have not. I have applied on several occasions but am yet to receive any form of financial aid. It would greatly help and I've explained this through applications but have not been fortunate enough to receive anything.

Examination Structure :

We take exams for midterms and finals. In my personal experience, the exams are usually pretty fair, although a few of the math based JMSB courses have been extremely difficult in my opinion. They are also well distributed over exam season and the school is responsive to any scheduling conflicts.

Faculty :

The professors are all very well qualified and I have had no problems with any professors. Everyone seems to be very approachable and eager to teach. Although at times it is difficult to understand certain professors.

Hostel :

I live with 4 roommates outside of downtown Montreal. We live in a student geared apartment complex. The rent is fair and the location is sweet. We are right on Saint Laurent so on weekends we can party, but it is also close enough to the metro to get to class in 10 minutes if ever in a rush.
