Natalie Review at Concordia University, Montreal | Collegedunia

Concordia is a new university with big opportunities

N
8.7 /10

Offers a specialized training program. Also, the price is affordable and is near home so I don't have to pay for housing. It is a new university that's excellent for software engineering because of its labs and participation in research.

Course Curriculum :

It's good, although you have to take 5 courses per semester if you wanna graduate in 4 years. This is only for engineering students because you're required to complete 120 credits. The courses are very focused in your area and you can select electives that will count as specialization.

Exams :

I took the IELTS to get into the university and got a score of 6.0, for that reason I had to take ESL classes.

Placement :

At the university, I haven?t got a job but in the student success center online there are a lot of posts of opportunities at the university. The jobs are in areas such as bookstore, cafeteria, library, and sports.

Internship :

Yes, I don't have any experience with that. Although I do know that this is offered and there's a website with all the opportunities available. The internship sometimes is with known companies and usually, this is offered for co-op students.

Events :

There are a lot of events throughout the year, there's the frosh, academic conferences. And during holidays their different events, as well as in Halloween, Saint Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, etc.

Fees :

There the tuition, you pay for health insurance if you want and all the associated fees that you pay can be refunded if you ask for it. You pay for a number of credits taken and if your international student, comes from other provinces than Quebec, and Quebec students.

Scholarship :

Yes, with the AFE from Quebec and a loan and bursary. You have to fill out an online form and after the review of the application you're granted with the tuition money and a bursary for each month, it may vary if you're working or receiving money from your family.

Examination Structure :

Some courses have midterms with different percentages depending on the final exam. The question is usually to be solved in a booklet apart from the original copy and are reviewed by professors or different staff.

Faculty :

It's a faculty that cares about its students and staff, offers help and activities throughout the semester. Academic advisors are always available for students who need help.

Hostel :

I stay at home with my family in a town nearby called Boucherville. In Montreal, there are a lot of places affordable for students but my friends live in Notre dame de grace which is a sector near Loyola campus and is nice, not that old and cheap.
