Because I got to move away from home and experience living on my own as well as gaining the freedom of having my own place without someone always asking me questions. As well as the program here at Laurier is amazing for business.
Course Curriculum
Honestly, I think Laurier has some interesting courses only for older years and first-year students are stuck with boring electives. For example, there is a poli sci class on president Donald Trump but you can only take it in 3rd year.
Exams
We don't do this in Canada. All we have to apply with is our grade 12 marks and our admission is based on that.
Internship
It does but you have to have a crazy high average for it which isn't really fair to maintain such a high average but different programs don't need to have such a high average as business kids need to have.
Events
One of our biggest events is hoco which is known as homecoming which happens in September and it is a really fun way to enter the school year another one is st Patty's which is one the biggest and people from all over come and celebrate on one certain street.
Fees
The fee structure is you pay your fees twice so basically once in September and then another time in January. Other charges have to be textbooks which are so expensive and you can?t even buy used ones bc each textbook has a code for an online class.
Scholarship
Yes, I have applied for OSAP which was really simple and easy to apply for but Doug Ford is making it harder and harder to receive funding so I don't know what will happen in the future.
Examination Structure
Honestly the exam structure kind of sucks. Most exams are not fair and that's up to the prof but exam schedules are too messy and I understand catering to every student wants is hard the faculty is not easy going about moving exams around.
Faculty
Honestly, I've had really bad professors that can?t teach and are rude about it and I've had some amazing profs that understand that transitioning from high school to the first year is hard.
Hostel
Well, I didn't live in residence. I lived off residence on my first year which isn't really recommended but I didn't feel like I missed out on anything, to be honest. I still feel like I had the same experience as others except for the first month or so.
