Students in the undergraduate program in electrical engineering, will receive a broad foundation in electrical engineering through combined lectures and laboratory work that will prepare them for entering the profession of electrical engineering as well as for further study at the graduate level. They will take core courses that provide them with a strong background in mathematics, physical sciences, engineering sciences and the fundamentals of electrical engineering. In addition, the curriculum offers a wide range of elective technical courses.

Electrical engineering students compete for the BBG Incorporated Endowed Scholarship in Engineering. Rising junior and senior students compete with other engineering students. Recipients of the scholarship are also considered for an engineering cooperative education/intern position with BBG Incorporated.

The graduates find employment in a wide spectrum of activities covering various fields. These include controls, image processing, communications, networks, computers, semiconductor and solid-state devices, physical electronics, lasers, biomedical applications and solar power. There are many different job functions associated with these technical areas. Electrical engineers are employed in systems analysis and design, engineering design and development, applications design and technical sales, production and manufacturing, field service and user training, management, and many other job titles.
