- Biology is organized around six focal areas of faculty expertise: (1) molecular, cellular, and developmental biology, and genetics; (2) physiology and neuroscience; (3) organismal biology and zoology; (4) plant biology; (5) evolution, behavior, and conservation; and (6) ecology and environmental biology. Many of Miami’s faculty work across one or more of these subdisciplinary boundaries. The breadth of Miami’s expertise enables us to offer a wide range of courses, pre-professional programs, and research experiences that prepare students for success in graduate and professional schools and for career paths in health, biotechnology, the environment, and plant science.

- International students hailing from non-English speaking countries must submit proof of English proficiency. Students may provide score reports of TOEFL/IELTS/… or any equivalent test with at least a minimum score as per program guidelines to prove English proficiency.
- In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Miami is accepting the Duolingo English Test for the 2021-2022 application cycle as an alternative to the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE test.
